precautions during its usage.
Please read all instructions, warnings and cautions prior to use to maximize
convenience and safety when operating the VPism.

The VPism aids in identifying and locating hypodermic veins during
medical procedures by detecting and showing real-time video of veins.
The VPism has built-in batteries which makes it portable.

Precautions

The operator must read and beware of all the instructions, cautions and warnings
for the safety of the patient and to prevent any accidents from occurring. (iiSM Inc.
is not obligated to be responsible for any injuries or accidents occurring from not
complying to all the warnings and cautions.)
WARNING: These warnings are related to situations which can lead to death or
serious
injuries of the operator or the patient.
A. Warnings
1. General
1)
Only personnel with proper education and training of the VPism should operate.
●
VPism must be used only as a diagnosis supplement to the judgment of medical professionals.
●
VPism must be operated following only the instructions of this manual.
2) When setting up the VPism, please comply with the following measures to
avoid malfunction, fire or electrical hazards.
●
Set up the VPism in a place where it is not adversely affected by atmospheric pressure,
temperature, humidity, wind, light and ions.
●
Do not place any flammable gas or materials near the VPism.
●
Connect the VPism only to an electrical outlet with a protective grounding system.
●
Do not connect the power cord of the VPism to a damaged electrical outlet, extension cord or multi-outlets.
●
Do not use power cords with any form of damage.
●
Do not disassemble, fix or remodel the product without Manufacturer’s approval.
3) When using the VPism, please comply with the following measures to avoid
malfunction, fire or electrical hazards.
●
Do not touch the VPism, power cord or electrical outlet with wet hands.
●
Do not place heavy objects or apply pressure on the power cord.
●
Do not place any fire weapons or water near the VPism.
●
Do not apply any physical or electrical shock to the VPism.
●
Use only designated parts or replacements.
●
If there are any malfunctions please contact the local distributor’s service center.
2. For patient and operator safety
1)
VPism supplements in identifying and locating hypodermic blood vessels during medical
procedures by detecting and showing real-time video of blood vessels. VPism must
not be used to replace sound medical judgment based on the visual and tactile location
of blood vessels.
2)
For long-term continuous operation of the VPism, connect it to an electrical outlet.
3) VPism is designed to show only hypodermic or superficial blood vessels. Thus, only
the blood vessels within the designated depth may be visible. VPism does not provide
any information about the exact depth of the veins. Depending on a variety of patient
factors, some blood vessels may not be visible.
4) Do not use the VPism simultaneously with any other electrical medical devices.
5) VPism is for external use only.

CAUTION: These cautions are related to situations which can lead to injuries or
property damage.
B. Cautions
1. General
1)
When setting up the VPism, place it on top of a stable and flat surface to
prevent any malfunction, fire or electrical hazard.
2)
When using the VPism, please comply with the following measures to avoid
malfunction, fire or electrical hazards.
●
Check for any faults or defects of the VPism before using it.
●
Follow the recommendations of medical professionals regarding the distance and time of usage.
●
●
Stop using the VPism if any symptoms are observed or operating problems occur.
Assist the patient accordingly in case of emergencies.
●
Do not apply strong pressure, or touch two areas simultaneously when using the screen of VPism.
●
Do not use the VPism while covering it with any form of blanket or cover.
●
Do not place any objects on top of VPism or stand on it.
●
Disconnect the power cable when not in use.
●
Turn off the VPism while moving it.
●
Do not use the VPism inside any form of transportation. (cars, trains, airplanes, etc.)
2. For patient and operator safety
1)
The VPism must be used under the supervision of medical professionals or
experts. Infants, elderly people and patients with disabilities must be accompanied
by their guardian.
2)
Do not use the VPism for purposes other than detecting and imaging the blood vessels.
3. General safety
1) Do not apply strong pressure, external shock or drop the VPism.
4. Maintenance (battery)
1)
The VPism contains an internal battery which needs to be fully charged before
using it for the first time.
3)
The internal battery should not be replaced or disconnected. Any attempt to
disassemble or replace the battery will void the warranty.
2)
The internal battery is an additional source of power which needs regular
maintenance and replacement.
4)
Please contact the local distributor or iiSM Inc. when replacement or repair is
necessary. (subject to payment)
5)
Please dispose the VPism following the laws of disposal or recycling of electronic
devices.

How to Setup

Set the kickstand to support the display. Connect the LED power and camera cable
connector to their respective ports.
In case the battery is low,
connect the adapter to the main
power jack.
Slide the camera adapter onto the camera
mount to hold/stabilize the camera.
WARNING: Do not connect any other product
on the port except for the designated one.
Set the camera onto the camera mount when
not used.
CAUTION: The camera may not function properly
when dropped or applied with pressure.
CAUTION: Use the provided adapter.

How to Start

Press the power button to turn on the VPism.
The Program will be operated automatically in about 20 seconds.
WARNING: Do not touch or operate the VPism until the program has fully loaded.
Tap the button for 1 or 2 seconds.
Do not press the button too hard or for a long time.

The main display and the camera can be freely operated to observe blood
vessels located at different parts of a body. The camera can be rotated freely
to observe the target area at the front, above and below the operator.
In case the operator observes himself/herself, the display shows 180°rotated image.
The camera can be operated more freely by detaching from the camera mount.
The camera mount adapter should be at the left side of the operator to not turn the display 180
°
CAUTION: Excessive tilting and rotation of the camera can damage the camera mount adapter.

Hold the camera around 20 cm above the surface of the target area.
Do not move for at least 3 seconds to optimize the auto-brightness function.

Viewing
the Target Area
in Real-time
1. Bring the camera into the focus while keeping the proper distance between the
Camera part and the observation part. (about 20 cm)
2. Select the region of interest and thickness of the blood vessel to be observed.
3. The brightness of the image is automatically adjusted. (AUTO mode)
(Manual mode : If you press AUTO button, you can adjust the brightness by the
control bar or and button.)
If you do not touch the display for 5 minutes, the display brightness automatically dims
and enters Standby mode.

1. Press button. Then, the light assistance mode is turned on.
2. When the light assistance mode is turned on, the icon is changed →
3. You can see the blood vessels which is hard to find more clearly by using the
specialized
light source.
If you turn the light assistance mode on without the specialized light source,
you may not see the image of blood vessels.
: SLism-F using mode
Use SLism-F while placing it on the observation parts(face, arm and so on).
: SLism-N using mode
Plug in SLism-N to the nose to observe more clearly the blood vessels near
the nose.

1. Touching button will pause the real-time display.
2. Then, the Image load button will change to Image save button ( → )
Touching button will create a folder with the current date and save the image.
3. Shows the file name and the date.
4. Touching button will continue the real-time video.
Pause button is especially useful when the patient is continuously moving.
