IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS
CAUTION: Please read and save these instructions. Read carefully
before attempting to assemble, install, operate or maintain the
product described. Do not use the control box if any part is damaged
or missing.
Protect yourself and others by observing all safety information. Failure
to comply with instructions could result in personal injury and/or
property damage!
Retain instructions for future reference.
General Safety Information
NOTE: To comply with UL507, air circulator is not to be used in
unattended areas.
1. Ensure that the power source conforms to the electrical
requirements of the fan. All wiring must be in accordance with
National Electrical Code (ANSI/NFPA 70-1999).
2. Use this unit only in the manner intended by the manufacturer. If
you have questions, contact the manufacturer at the address or
telephone number listed in the warranty.
3. Before servicing or cleaning unit, switch power off at service panel
and lock the service disconnecting means to prevent power from
being switched on accidentally. When the service disconnecting
means cannot be locked, securely fasten a prominent warning
device, such as a tag to the service panel.
4. Installation work and electrical wiring must be done by a qualified
person in accordance with appliance codes and standards, including
fire-rated construction codes and standards.
4
5. Sufficient air is needed for proper combustion and exhausting of
gases through the flue (chimney) of fuel burning equipment to
prevent excessive low pressure and to prevent back drafting. Follow
the heating equipment to guidelines and safety standards such as
those published by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA),
and the American Society for Heating, Refrigeration and Air
Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), and the local code authorities.
6. When cutting or drilling into wall or ceiling, do not damage
electrical wiring and other hidden utilities.
7. The wiring must be permanent. DO NOT USE EXTENSION CORD!
Although the Powered Gable Ventilator may be wired directly to
power, we advise that some type of shut off switch be installed on
the line. Please see the section on electrical wiring for suggested
wiring diagrams and instructions.
8. For general ventilating use only. Do not use this fan to exhaust
hazardous or explosive materials or vapors.
9. To avoid motor bearing damage and noisy and/or unbalanced
impellers, keep drywall spray, construction dust, etc. off power unit.
10. Ensure that the power source conforms to the electrical
requirements of the fan.
11. Always disconnect power before inspection or cleaning, as motor
may restart unexpectedly.
12. In cases in which property damage may result from malfunction of
the fan, a suitable alarm (air switch, temperature sensor, etc.)
should be used.
5
WARNING: Do not depend on any switch as the sole means of
disconnecting power when installing or servicing the fan. Failure to do
so may result in fatal electrical shock.
WARNING: Do not insert fingers or foreign objects into the fan. Do not
block or tamper with the fan in any manner while it is in operation.
WARNING: Unplug prior to servicing unit.
