Assuming that you have already downloaded the drivers for your Linux
version and have the knowledge to compile them under Linux. The following
explains how to connect the device to the driver:
In the makefile file, a command was set to integrate the driver into the kernel,
so you can type “make inst” to install the driver. Then type the command
“dmesg” and press Enter. A message will appear on the screen, including the
“usbserial.c” entry.
The USB to serial cable is now connected to ttyUSB0 (or usb/tts/0 for devfs).
This means that the virtual COM port can be found under ttyUSB0. If you want
to use this port, you must use the “In” command to establish a fixed link to the
device, for example: When using the USB to serial adapter cable to connect a
modem (or ttyS0), the input “In –b/dev/ttyUSB0/dev/ttyS0” is required and
confirmed with Enter. If the screen message “[root@localhost / xxxxx]#”
appears, the connection was successful.
In the next step, please run Start Programs System Internet
Configuration Wizard to set up the modem and its port.
1. In the “Select device type” dialog box, select “Modem connection”, ignore
the message “No modem found”, click “Next” and in the following dialog
box “Modem” select “/dev/ttyS0” and again “Next”.
