1 Introduction
1.1 GENERAL
Orthopantomograph® OP100 D is software controlled diagnostic
panoramic dental x-ray equipment for producing high quality digital
images of dentition and TM-joints.
This manual covers the installation of panoramic unit, PC system and
optical link between PC and OP100 D unit. As the manufacturer we
strongly recommend that you read this manual before installation. For
information about how to use the OP100 D unit and CliniView software
please refer to the appropriate manuals.
Following manuals and documents are shipped with the OP100 D:

1 Introduction
1.1 GENERAL
Orthopantomograph® OP100 D is software controlled diagnostic
panoramic dental x-ray equipment for producing high quality digital
images of dentition and TM-joints.
This manual covers the installation of panoramic unit, PC system and
optical link between PC and OP100 D unit. As the manufacturer we
strongly recommend that you read this manual before installation. For
information about how to use the OP100 D unit and CliniView software
please refer to the appropriate manuals.

1.3 RADIATION PROTECTION GUIDELINES
X-ray equipment may cause injury if used improperly. The instructions
contained in this manual must be read and followed when operating
the Orthopantomograph® OP100 D. All government regulations
pertaining to radiation safety must be observed.
NOTE!
For USA: Many provisions of these regulations are based on
recommendations of the National Council on Radiation Protection and
Measurements. Recommendations for dental x-ray protection are
published in NCRP Report #35 available from NCRP Publications,
7910 Woodmont Avenue, Suite 1016, Bethesda, MD 20814.
During the exposure the operator must protect himself/herself by
either staying behind a protective wall or use other means for personal
protection and stay at least 2 meters (7 ft.) from the radiation source
yet maintaining visible contact with the patient and technique factors.
This allows immediate termination of radiation by the release of the
exposure button in the event of a malfunction or disturbance.
Personal radiation monitoring and protective devices are available and
recommended for staff members. It is also recommended to provide
the patient with a protective apron. Consult physician before taking
images of pregnant patients.

1.4 MANUFACTURER’SLIABILITY
As a manufacturer we can only assume liability of safe and reliable
operation of this unit when
• Installation of OP100 D unit, PCI board and optical link between
PC and OP100 D unit was performed according to the OP100 D
Installation & Adjustments Manual and
• Unit is used according to the OP100 D User Manual
• CliniView PC software was installed according to the Installation
& User Manual for CliniView Software.
• CliniView PC software is used according to the “Installation and
User Manual for CliniView Software”.
• Maintenance and repairs are performed by a qualified
Orthopantomograph Dealer and
• Original or authorized spare parts are used and
If service on the unit is performed, work order describing the type and
extent of repair, must be provided by the service technician. This must
contain information of changes of nominal data or work range
performed. The work order must furthermore indicate the date of
repair, the name of the company concerned and a valid signature.
User should keep this work order for future references.
NOTE!
For PC system: Instrumentarium Dental can guarantee OP100 D PCI
board and CliniView software compatibility with other PC hardware
and software only if that configuration been tested by Instrumentarium
Dental. Any later changes to the hardware and software may void this
test.

2.3 CHECKING THE SITE
Patient Access Area:
OP100 D should have a minimum clearance of 80 inches/203cm
(wide) and 61 inches/155cm for the patient entry, patient positioning
and for servicing the unit.
Radiation Shielding:
Follow the governmental and local regulations for radiation shielding
of the x-ray room.
Location:
OP100 D unit is normally installed next to the wall. The operation is
either from the left or right side of the unit. The swivel joint of the wall
bracket allows the unit to be installed at an angle, e.g. in the corner
when the space is limited. OP100 D PC hardware can be located
almost anywhere in the dental office. Limited factor is actually fibre
optic cable which is either 10m or 20m long.
LL Controls on the left side of unit. Left sided operator’s view for
panoramic patient positioning. Cephalostat arm on the left.
Controls and ceph arm can be reversed any later date.
RR Controls on the right side of unit. Right sided operator’s view
for panoramic patient positioning. Cephalostat arm on the
right. Controls and ceph arm can be reversed any later date.
LR Controls on the left side of unit. Left side operator’s view for
panoramic patient positioning, cephalostat arm on the right.

CAUTION!
Do not locate PC hardware closer than 2 meters from the OP100 D
unit otherwise patient could have a possibility to touch the PC
hardware during exposure.
Door width: A minimum door width of 32 inches/80cm is required to
bring OP100 D crates and boxes into the installation room.
Height: Minimum room height is 93 inches/235 cm for standard
column.
Wall: The wall and mounting hardware must sustain a pull of 350 lbs./
1500N, from each wall bracket bolt. If the wall is constructed with
metal, an optional support plate (part #9955) may be used to help
support this style of construction. Wall brackets are predrilled at 16
inch and 12 inch / 406mm and 305mm centers. Optional Wall mount
short (part #60564) does not have the swivel and it brings the unit
about 3’’/76mm closer to the wall.
Floor: The floor must withstand the minimum weight of 120 lbs/sqft/
500kg/m2.
Free Standing:
An optional base plate allows a free standing installation in sites where
the wall mount is not used. For maximum stability, wall mounting is
recommended in addition to the base plate.
Exposure button:
Some local building codes will require a remote exposure button. If
needed order part # 69961. If necessary, the control panel and coiled
cord can also be remote mounted on the wall with an additional holder
(part #61228, not included).

NOTE!
OP100 D can be programmed so that the exposure can be initiated
only from the remote exposure button, except in Test (T) mode. See
OP100 D Service Program Manual or Service Manual for details.
Radiation Safety:

3.1 UNPACKING THE COLUMN
The column is packed front side up and supported with styrofoam
plates.
Move the cardboard box near the mounting location and cut the metal
straps.
NOTE!
During lifting the packages use assistance.
Card board box: Open the cover of the package and remove the top
styrofoam pieces and use them as supports under the column. Rotate
the package upside down. Remember to keep the cover beside the
package so that the column can flow down from the package.

Lift the column and place it front side upwards over the styrofoam
plates.
3.2 UNPACKING THE CARRIAGE
Card board box on a pallet contains the complete vertical carriage and
the accessories.
Move the crate near the installation site and cut the tie straps. Move or
lift the crate aside from the wooden pallet.
Remove the crate top by removing the staples from sides and lifting
the top away.
Remove the staples holding the card board bottom flaps. Unfold the
flaps.
Lift the styrofoam top (H) with accessories and set aside.

From the styrofoam bottom (G), remove the wall mount assembly (C)
and a bag of column accessories (A).
Locate all the accessories and check against the packing list
enclosed.
Tilt the carriage assembly and the styrofoam bottom so that it is
standing on its back.
Remove the styrofoam bottom by tilting the carriage slightly and
pulling out the foam.

the unit and/or degrade to imaging quality may occur if done so!
Tilt the carriage up to its normal position. Remove the 2 rear styrofoam
package supports (F) from the rear of the carriage. The carriage will
be standing on its own.
Remove the package support (D) from CCD camera and package
support (E) from the main support / the rotating unit. Do not remove
supports (C) at this time.
Remove the main support cover (2 screws) and carriage top plate (4
screws).
