SERVICING OF DOUBLE-INSULATED APPLIANCES:
In a double-insulated appliance, two systems of insulation are provided instead of
grounding. No grounding means is provided on a double-insulated appliance, nor
should a means for grounding be added to the appliance. Servicing a double-insulat-
ed appliance requires extreme care and knowledge of the system, and should only
be done by qualified service personnel. Replacement parts for a double-insulated
appliance must be identical to the parts they replace. A double-insulated appliance is marked
with the words “DOUBLE INSULATION” or “DOUBLE INSULATED”. The symbol (square within a
square) may also be marked on the appliance.
For safety, turn the ON/OFF switch o and unplug after and when not in use.

INTRODUCTION & GETTING STARTED
CONGRATULATIONS! You can now skip blow drying your hair and still
get that amazing blowout look that you could never get with any other styling
tool. The MAX Wet to Dry dries hair by whisking water out of the hair strands,
and then as the water travels up the rotating barrel, it is vented away safely
and quickly. It does this as you style resulting in significantly less styling time!
TOP 4 THINGS YOU MUST KNOW ABOUT YOUR MAX WET TO DRY
#1 Towel Dry.Try to get your hair as dry as possible with a
towel before you begin.
#2 One to Dry and One to Style. Glide the MAX Wet to Dry
SLOWLY down your hair once to dry and once to style.
#3 Go Slowly! The MAX Wet to Dry works best if you glide it
through your hair slowly. Repeated passes should be un-
necessary if you proceed slowly
#4 Listen for the Crackle! If you hear a little crackling, that
means the moisture is evaporating properly from the barrel

SAFETY FIRST Using Your Thermal Guard
NOTE: It is recommended that you use your MAX Wet to Dry
with the included Thermal Guard Training Aid, to help prevent
burns while you get used to this hot new styling tool.
Attaching Your Thermal Guard Training Aid
1. Before attaching the Thermal Guard, make sure the barrel
of the unit is cool to the touch.
2. To attach, snap the Thermal Guard Training Aid onto the
side of the unit, directly under the ring, below the barrel.
3. Rotate the Thermal Guard Training Aid until tabs are
snapped into the indentations on the body of the device.
4. Once the Thermal Guard is snapped in place, you can use
your MAX Wet to Dry as you normally would.
Removing Your Thermal Guard Training Aid
5. Before removing the Thermal Guard, make sure the barrel
is no longer hot.
6. To remove the Thermal Guard Training Aid, make sure the
barrel of the unit is cool, then firmly grab the guard piece.
Twist to release it and pull to remove.
NOTE: It is important to keep your MAX Wet to Dry clean, as
hair product buildup can accumulate on the barrel and bristles.
With the unit unplugged and cool, wipe the outside surface
only with a lightly dampened cloth. The bristles can be lightly
scrubbed if necessary. Make sure the MAX Wet to Dry is com-
pletely dry before plugging into power source. Please see page
19 of this manual for more detailed cleaning instructions.
Always allow the MAX Wet to Dry to cool before storing.

THE BASICS
Preparation For All Hair Types
• Before using your MAX Wet to Dry, you
should always start with clean, dry hair.
• Detangle and comb.
• Start with 1-inch to 3-inch sections.
Make sure the section is no wider than
the length of the MAX Wet to Dry
barrel.
• Style the under layers of your hair
first. Then, move onto the top layers.
• Use any salon-quality styling product
with your MAX Wet to Dry. However,
we do not recommend the use of oil-
based products with the device.
• For better hold, you can use your favor-
ite light styling spray before using your
MAX Wet to Dry. Do not use an aerosol
spray.
• GO SLOWLY! The most important
lesson is to glide the MAX Wet to Dry
slowly. Don’t worry if you see “steam”
coming o of your hair when using
your MAX Wet to Dry. This is not the
result of any damage to the hair, it is
simply excess moisture that is evapo-
rating.
HAIR TYPES
The way you use your MAX Wet
to Dry depends on what type
of hair you have. Use the tech-
niques best suited to your hair
type.
The four hair types are:
1. FINE: Set the MAX Wet to Dry at the
Low or Medium heat setting. With
fine hair, you should only need 1 to 2
passes to achieve preferred results.
2. MEDIUM (most common): Set your
MAX Wet to Dry to the Medium or
High setting. You should only need 1 to
2 passes with the MAX Wet to Dry for
your desired look.
3. THICK: Set your MAX Wet to Dry to
the High or Max heat setting. With
thick hair, 2 or 3 passes should be
enough to set your style.
4. WET HAIR (towel dry) - For wet hair,
use the appropriate heat setting to dry
while styling.

12
®
SECTIONING HAIR
To achieve the style you want with your MAX Wet to Dry,
it is important to know how to properly section the hair.
• With longer hair, clip up the top layers and begin sectioning and styling the
under layers first.
• For best results, do not use fingers to gather each section of hair. You can
gather a much “cleaner” section with a sectioning comb.
• Start with 1-inch to 3-inch sections, working around each side of the head to
the nape of the neck. Use small sections of hair.
• When using the MAX Wet to Dry, grip the device firmly but not tightly and let
your hair glide through. Go slowly and let the MAX Wet to Dry do the work.
• For straightening damp hair, glide the MAX Wet to Dry once to dry, then once
more to straighten.
NOTE: For color-treated hair, we recommend both a lightweight shampoo and
leave-in conditioner.
• Volumizing products can be used to set the style.
• To hold your look, end with a light, professional finishing spray.
• Although the MAX Wet to Dry uses less heat than other hair appliances, we
recommend using thermal protectant products before use.

DON’T RUSH!
Take your time
and move slowly
through the hair.
STRAIGHTENING
• Position the MAX Wet to Dry with the rotating
barrel as close to roots as possible (with the barrel
underneath the section of the hair).
• Ensure the barrel is always rotating toward the end
of your hair.
• Pull the MAX Wet to Dry straight down SLOWLY to
the ends.
• Go slowly to allow the MAX Wet to Dry enough
time to be able to dry and style at the same time.
For straightening damp hair, glide the MAX Wet to
Dry once to dry, then once more to straighten.
STRAIGHTENING AT THE ROOT
• Open the MAX Wet to Dry and hold the barrel
against sectioned hair near the scalp. DO NOT
CLOSE MAX Wet to Dry over hair.
• Slide the MAX Wet to Dry back and forth -
without rotating - against the roots for 3 to 5
seconds before releasing and moving onto the next
section. Use caution to avoid burning your scalp.

14
SOFT CURLS
• Decide which direction you want to curl. Double-click to change barrel
direction to curl toward or away from the face.
• Wrap a section of hair around the barrel from roots to ends with the barrel
side facing the scalp.
• Gently close the MAX Wet to Dry onto the barrel.
• Rotate the wrist slightly to ensure the ends of the hair are included.
• If you are curling toward the face, the barrel should rotate toward the face.
• If you are curling away from the face, the barrel should rotate away from
the face.
• Allow the barrel to rotate for 5-10 seconds in the direction of the curl.
• Open the barrel and let the curl drop.
• DAMP HAIR: When curling damp hair, let the barrel rotate longer on the
section than you would with dry hair.
VOLUME BOOST
• Position the MAX Wet to Dry so the rotating barrel side is as close to
roots as possible (with the barrel underneath the section of the hair).
• For volume that is sleek and finished the barrel should be rotating
back toward the ends of the hair.
• For max volume that is similar to backcombing and back-teasing the
barrel should be rotating forward (toward the root of the hair).
• Allow the barrel to rotate for 3-5 seconds in place at the roots before
pulling the MAX Wet to Dry down through to your ends.

ADVANCED TIPS
To create extra body and volume using the
MAX Wet to Dry:
With the MAX Wet to Dry barrel facing
toward the back of your head, close the de-
vice onto sectioned hair and slowly pull the
MAX Wet to Dry in the opposite direction
of where you want your hair to lay. In other
words, close the MAX Wet to Dry on a sec-
tion of hair at the crown of the head and
pull forward slowly, toward the forehead.
To boost the volume on the sides and
back of the head, gather a small section
of hair and push the MAX Wet to Dry
upward, toward the ends of the section.
This technique gives extra body in the root
area, giving hair a fuller appearance. This
technique can be used anywhere you need
extra body, volume or height.
For additional height in your bangs, wrap
the bangs around the barrel, toward your
face, and let the MAX Wet to Dry rotate for
a few seconds toward your face. Open the
barrel and allow bangs to gently fall from
the barrel.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How do I use the MAX Wet to Dry, com-
pared to my flat iron?
The technique is similar in that you put your
hair into the MAX Wet to Dry, close it onto the
hair and then slowly work your way through
the length of your hair. But that’s where the
similarities end! The rotating, heated, ceramic
barrel and wet-to-dry bristles will do most of
the work for you. Plus, you’ll find that you can
do much, much more with your MAX Wet to
Dry than you could ever do with a flat iron.
How is the MAX Wet to Dry MAX dierent
from the InStyler Original Rotating Iron?
We took a great product and made it even
better! The InStyler Original Rotating Iron has
been improved with new features like a 2-way
rotating barrel, a fourth higher heat setting, an
upgraded Ceramic Tourmaline and Titanium
rotating barrel, exclusive wet-to-dry bristles
and 20% increased barrel RPM speed. Not
only that, but now that MAX Wet to Dry can
be used on damp hair for faster styling time.
The Thermal Guard Training Aid and Cool Tip
are upgraded features for additional comfort
and safety.

My hair is coming out frizzy when I use my
MAX Wet to Dry. What am I doing wrong?
Go Slowly. Make sure hair is combed and
detangled to start. Position the MAX Wet
to Dry so that the barrel rotates toward the
natural direction of hair. Also, try to put as
little tension on the barrel as possible. This
will help keep frizz to a minimum.
Does the MAX Wet to Dry work on natural
African-American hair?
Absolutely! The MAX Wet to Dry is a
great appliance for African-American hair
because it won’t leave crease marks like flat
irons do, and the ceramic polishing barrel
and bristles will leave the hair looking shiny
and beautiful. The MAX Wet to Dry is safe
for any type of hair when used properly.
You will get best results if your hair is dry,
combed and detangled.
Can I use styling products before or after I
use my MAX Wet to Dry?
You can use any salon-quality product with
your MAX Wet to Dry, although we don’t
recommend any oil-based products on the
hair beforehand. A professional thermal
protectant spray can be applied to the hair
before you style. Professional quality hold
and styling sprays will help keep your style
in place.
Can I use the MAX Wet to Dry on already
dry hair?
Of course! In fact, you may get even better
results.
The MAX Wet to Dry doesn’t seem to be
working on my ends. Am I doing some-
thing wrong?
If you’re having trouble styling the ends,
try holding the MAX Wet to Dry on your
ends for a few seconds longer. The ends of
the hair are normally the driest part of the
hair, and can be a bit more dicult to set. It
helps to use a good conditioner, especially
on the ends, to help infuse moisture into the
hair shaft.
I see smoke coming from my hair! Is it
burning my hair?
No! The MAX Wet to Dry is not burning
your hair! This is just a by-product of the
evaporation.
Can I use my MAX Wet to Dry with real hu-
man hair extensions?
Yes. Make sure you start working with the
MAX Wet to Dry below where the extension
is attached. Do not drag the MAX Wet to
Dry through the hair with any pressure, as
you may inadvertently pull out the exten-
sion. NEVER use your MAX Wet to Dry with
synthetic hair.

How does the MAX Wet to Dry work?
The MAX Wet to Dry dries hair by whisking
water out of the hair strands. As the water
travels up the rotating barrel, it is vented away
safely and quickly. It does this as you style,
resulting in significantly less styling time.
I need a lot of heat to straighten my hair. Will
the MAX Wet to Dry get hot enough?
We get asked this question a lot and we’re
proud to say you can add this one to the old
“hair styling myths” column! With the MAX
Wet to Dry , you don’t need a lot of heat to
straighten and style your hair! The MAX Wet to
Dry’s unique design actually allows you to use
less damaging heat than you would with a flat
iron or other hot tool. It’s a totally new way of
thinking about heat styling - you don’t need
extreme heat to get the results you want!
Can I use the MAX Wet to Dry to curl my
hair?
Absolutely! Simply by wrapping your hair
around the rotating, heated, polishing barrel,
and closing the MAX Wet to Dry gently, you
can create loads of luxurious curls.
The heated polishing barrel rotates. Can my
hair get tangled?
No. Unlike some of our competitors’ products,
the surface of the MAX Wet to Dry is a single
piece and totally smooth, so there is no way
for your hair to get caught.
How do I get my MAX Wet to Dry to rotate?
Close the handle to start rotation, which will
begin automatically.
How do I get my MAX Wet to Dry to change
it’s rotation direction?
Close the MAX Wet to Dry twice quickly and
the barrel will automatically begin rotating in
the opposite direction. See page 7 for detailed
instructions.
What if my MAX Wet to Dry does not heat?
Check to make sure your MAX Wet to Dry is
plugged in and press the Power button. The
LED bars should light and begin flashing. Once
the LED lights remain lit, the MAX Wet to Dry
will be at the set temperature and ready to use.

19
For video tips visit YOUTUBE.COM/INSTYLERHAIR
When I use my MAX Wet to Dry, why does
the temperature LED start to flash?
It is normal for the heat to fluctuate during
use. As long as the MAX Wet to Dry has been
allowed to reach full heat (steady LED) after
powering on, you can continue to use your
appliance while the LED is flashing.
How do I clean my MAX Wet to Dry?
When cleaning your MAX Wet to Dry, discon-
nect it from the power source and make sure
it has completely cooled. Wipe the outside
surface only with a soft, damp cloth. Be sure
to wring out excess water before applying it
to the unit. Clean more severe dirt by using a
soft, damp cloth with a mild soap. The bristles
can be lightly scrubbed if necessary with a
damp cloth, to remove any built-up product.
Residual hair left in the bristles should be re-
moved. The barrel can be wiped down with a
soft, damp cloth. Use a mild soap if necessary.
Make sure the MAX Wet to Dry is completely
dry before plugging it into a power source.
MAINTENANCE
Your MAX Wet to Dry is essentially mainte-
nance free. No lubrication is needed. Keep all
openings clear of grime and dirt. If cleaning
is necessary, unplug the unit from the power
source and wait for the unit to completely
cool. Wipe the exterior of the unit with a
cloth. Do not attempt any repairs. If a repair
is required, unplug the unit, allow it to cool,
and return it for repair to authorized service
representative.
STORAGE
To store your MAX Wet to Dry, unplug and
wait for it to fully cool. Store out of the reach
of children and in a safe and dry location. Do
not pull on cord at electrical source or wrap
cord around the unit.
