First steps
Turn on the tablet, by pressing the
‘ON’ button on the side of the tablet.

Section 1 - Getting started
Open the HeartWorks AR app
by clicking on it.
HeartWorks AR
If the app is not on the tablet
desktop, it can be found in
the list of available apps.
To close or restart the app, swipe
up from the bottom of the screen, press
the left button shown below and select
‘Close all’.

The three modes
There are three modes for using HeartWorks AR:
3D viewing mode (default)
In this mode the 3D heart is
shown on screen and not in
your surroundings, so can be
used without the QR code or
a suitable surface.
Image Target (AR) Ground Plane (AR)
In this AR mode the 3D
heart is positioned on a
suitable surface within your
surroundings using the camera.
In this AR mode the 3D heart
is positioned within your
surroundings using a printed
QR code.

Connecting to a projector
The HeartWorks AR tablet can easily be connected to a projector or large screen.

Step 1
USB-C to HDMI adapter and
a HDMI cable (not included).
Step 3
Plug the HDMI cable
into the adapter.
Your tablet should now appear on your projector/screen.
Step 2
Plug the USB-C adapter
into the tablet.

Pin Slice Position
Fix the current position of the slice plane
Invert Slice
Display the heart on the opposite
side of the slice
Slice Slider
Move the slice plane
through the 3D heart

Hide or show all of the individual
structures within the 3D heart
Close Window
Close the structures list
Deselect Structure
Deselect the highlighted structure
Select Structure
Click on the structure to highlight
in the 3D heart
Open/Close Structure
Expand the structure list to
reveal sub-structures
Hide/Show Structure
Hide or show the selected
structure in the 3D heart
Display Default View
The selected structure
will be revealed in the 3D heart

Adjust the transparency
of the ultrasound image
Whole/Sliced Heart Toggle
Show the ultrasound plane
through the sliced or whole
heart
Invert Slice
Display the heart on the opposite side of the slice
Hide/Show Ultrasound Plane
Turn the ultrasound sector display on or off
Hide/Show Ultrasound Image
Display the ultrasound image or the ultrasound sector outline
Frame Ultrasound Plane To Screen
Align the ultrasound plane with the centre of the screen
Standard Image Plane Name
The name of the selected imaging plane
Next/Previous Image Plane
Select the next or previous imaging plane
in the complete list
Remove Image Plane
Close the ultrasound imaging

Place the printed QR code (target)
on a surface where you would
like to position the heart
Open the Image target (AR) mode
and point the camera towards
the QR code (target)
Note that moving the QR code will move the heart.

Positioning the heart
Open ground plane mode and point the tablet camera at a surface to build a 3D grid.
Note that this works best on textured or patterned surfaces (not plain or flat surfaces).
Once the heart representation appears
and is in the desired location tap on it
to save the position.
