thebackside ofthehand-heldcomputer,theserial
numberislocatedontheinside ofthecase.
3.Saveall paperworkpertainingtoshipment,andim-
mediatelynotifythetransportcompanyofthedam-
ageditem(s).Followtheirinstructionsforfilinga
claimonthedamageditems.

Backlightand Display Contrast
Adjustment
Yourhand-heldcomputerdisplaycontainsa backlightfor
operatingindarkconditions.Althoughitgreatlyimproves
operatingindarkconditionsitdoes shortenyourbattery
run time.Yourhand-heldcomputerwill shut thebacklight
off whenthereisnoactivity.Section2explainshowtoturn
onthebacklightandadjust thecontrastofthedisplay.
Battery
MainBatteryPack
Thishand-heldcomputerusesarechargeablelithiumion
(LiIon)batterypack.
Yourhand-heldcomputersensesthecapacity(run time)left
inyourmainbatterypackbeforeitgoesintoalowbattery
condition.
Thisuser’sguidemayoccasionallyusetheterm “cycles”
whenpresentingrechargeablebatteryinstructions.Cycles
arethenumberoftimestherechargeablebatterypackcan
bedrained,andrecharged duringthelife ofthebattery.The
rechargeablebatterydesignshouldgiveyoumanycyclesof
use.
Whenyoupress theONkeytosuspendoperation,your
hand-heldcomputerdoesnotcompletelyturnitselfoff.The
mainbatterypackisprotectingdata andifthepackiscom-
pletelychargeditwill protect thedataforaboutsixdays.
Backup Battery
Whenyourhand-heldcomputergoesintoshutdownmode
because oflowbatterycondition,thedataisprotectedby
thebackupbattery.Yourhand-heldcomputerwill notac-
ceptdataorprocess transactionsuntil youdealwiththe

lowbatterycondition.Afullychargedbackupbatterywill
savedataforabout10 hours.
Yourhand-heldcomputer containsarechargeableNiCd
backupbattery.Mostofthetimethebackupbatteryisina
rest mode,readytotake overdataprotectioninstantly
whenthemainbatterycellsareinlowconditionoroutof
thehand-heldcomputer.
Ifyouarestoring yourhand-heldcomputerforalongperiod
removeall batteries.Thiswill preventanydamagethat
couldoccurtoyourhand-heldcomputershouldthecellsde-

Intherare event thatyourhand-heldcomputerfailstore-
spondtoyourinput,it maybenecessaryto“reset.”Avoid
usingtheresetswitchasthisincreasesthechancesthat
datawill belost. Onlyusetheresetswitchaftertryingall
othersolutions.RefertotheTroubleshootingTableinSec-
tion4 andtrythosesolutionsbeforeresetting your comput-
er.
TheResetswitchaccess islocatedbehindthe15-pincon-
nector.Toaccess useastraightenedlargepaper clip,insert
