2Normal use
Outdoor Compact Cooling Unit MULTICOOL 1100
was developed for the sole use of cabinet and shelter
cooling. This compact cooling unit is NOT designed
for use in hazard areas.
Walk-in cabinets and shelters must have a sufficient
ventilation/air changes. This unit has no ventilation/air
change capability.
Any use other than the intended, as well as
unauthorized changes, is prohibited and voids any
warranty or damage claims against INTERTEC-Hess
GmbH.
3Description
This compact cooling unit was designed for cooling
and dehumidifying of cabinets and shelters.
Electronic devices within cabinets and shelters will
be protected against overheating and premature
failure. The unit works according to the principles of
standard compressor/condenser/refrigeration air
conditioners. It consists of the 4 main components:
- compressor
- condenser
- expansion valve
- evaporator
The refrigerant circulates through pipes in a closed
loop preventingunacceptable operating pressures. As
a result there is minimum maintenance and high
operational safety.
The temperature within the cabinet / shelter is
controlled by an integrated thermostat.
The cooling unit is mounted inside a maintenance free
and durable GRP-housing.
Important:
With the use of this outdoor compact cooling unit the
shelters/cabinets IP-class will be unchanged.

6Transport
The outdoor compact cooling unit can be transported
in up-right or flat position. During transport the unit
must be secured to prevent any damages.
Risk of damages to the unit may occur if start-up is
too early.
Irreversible damages will be caused if the unit is
started without the refrigerant being equalized.
Please wait at minimum 4 hours after finishing
mounting before start-up.
7Installation site
Risk of unconsciousness and death may occur through a
lack of oxygen in walk-in cabinets and shelters.
If walk-in cabinets and shelters don’t have sufficient
ventilation there is a risk of lack of oxygen. The
compact cooling unit just cools –additionally there
must be sufficient air circulation provided by an
auxillary ventilation system.
Risk of damages to the unit or reduced power through
insufficient outside air supply.
This unit can be overloaded or damaged if the air
supply outside is insufficient. Ensure that …
- no air from other sources will be drawn in.
- free space in front of the cooling unit is at minimum
0.8 m.
The mounting pad has to be level to maintain the IP-
class of the cabinet or shelter.
8Mounting
Material Required:
INTERTEC supplied:
- 4 pcs. M10 * 6,5 c/w 4 washer
By customer:
- 2 pcs. threaded rod M10;
length (min) = wall thickness + 75 mm
- sandpaper with grain size 100
- hand drill with drill bit Ø 12
- jigsaw
- 2 people for mounting required
Risk of cuts when putting hands into the lower
ventilation opening.
Take pre-caution to not put your hands into the
lower ventilation opening.
Recommended procedure:
1. Ensure that the mounting area inside and
outside is free and clear of any equipment.
INTERTEC recommends the mounting of the
compact cooling unit in the upper half of the
wall.
2. Mark all drill holes and ventilation openings
on mounting area. Please see
„Attachment C –mounting drawing“
3. Cut out ventilation openings.
4. Drill holes.
fig. 1 –wall with holes and ventilation openings
5. Remove burrs on cut surfaces (sandpaper)
6. Clean the outside of the wall. The mounting
area has to be free of any residues.
7. Ready screws for installation c/w washers.
8. Screw both rods in the upper threads. They
will serve as positioning guide. Please take
care that both threaded rods can be screwed
out easily.

9.
2 people required
Position the cooling unit on the outside wall.
Please note: insert both threaded rods
completely.
10. Screw the compact cooling unit at the bottom.
Please use the provided screws/washers.
Lightly tighten both screws.
11. Remove the first threaded rod and using
screws/washers provided tighten lightly.
12. Remove the second threaded rod and using
screw/washer provided tighten lightly.
13. Now tighten all screws.
Thighten screws to ensure the safe and
permanent position of the unit. Please
tighten the screws accordingly. The torque
required depends on the wall material. Ask
the cabinet vendor for detailed information
on values.

14. Check all seals for correct position.
Check for damaged seals.
15. The electrical connection must be done by a
qualified electrician.
16. Wait at minimum 4 hours before starting-up
the unit.
9Commissioning
Risk of damage may occur when starting up unit too
early.
Irreversible damages may be caused if the unit is
started before refrigerant equalizes. Please wait at
minimum 4 hours after installation before starting-
up.
The unit will be delivered as „ready to use“. The
thermostat is already preset. The unit has a switching
hysteresis of 5 °C (Example: The unit will be
switched on at an inside temperature of 35 °C and
switched off at 30 °C). Changes of thermostat
settings are only allowed after consulting INTERTEC
and only it those changes are done by refrigeration
expert.
1. Do a visible check.
- Are there any damages?
- Is the fan blade running freely
- Is the unit placed correctly?
- Are all screws tightened?
- Are there any damages on the electrical wiring?
2. Switch on power.
3. Check the display for the preset temperature.
4. Check if the air inside is circulating and cooled.
10 Maintenance
Risk of cuts through rotating fan propeller.
After removing the exterior housing there is a risk of
cuts when in contact with the rotating fan propeller.
Power down the unit before removing the exterior
housing.
The maintenance is limited to a periodically cleaning
of the ventilation grilles. The grilles are not coated
and must be cleaned if necessary.

Clean ventilation grilles on both sides. Remove
the dirt with a hand brush. Remove hardened
dirt with a wet cloth.
Clean the heat exchanger with compressed air.
Keep a minimum distance of 10 cm.
5. Mount the exterior housing and lock it securely.
6. Switch on power again.
