Replace CrystalPress Sorter Bowl
For Kit 110688-90, Procedure P/N 110907 Rev 0
Step 1: Turn off, unplug the power cord and
communication cable. Step 2: Turn the CrystalPress over, remove the 7
screws, take the bottom pan off and place aside.
You will need to support and balance the Crys-
talPress when you turn it up-side down.
Step 3: From the sorter bowl that you need to re-
place, unscrew the 3 locking nuts (counter clockwise).
Step 4: All 3 locking nuts are removed. No need to
remove the silver screw (arrow).
You can turn the CrystalPress back on its legs.
Step 5: Using the 11/32” socket wrench, unscrew
(counter clockwise), the nylon locking nut from the
front of the bowl as shown.
Step 6: Sorter bowl is shown with the locking nut
removed. (You do not need to remove the 2
screws shown by the arrows)
Step 7: Pull the sorter bowl towards you to clear the
threaded stud, and then lift slightly up, then pull the
bowl out and place it on the table as shown. (Wires
are still connected to the PCB board at this
point).
Step 8:IMPORTANT: WRIST STRAP MUST BE
WORN UNTIL FINISHED WITH THE DISCON-
NECTIONS ON THE BOARD.
Tools required: Phillips screw driver, an 11/32”
socket wrench and a grounding wrist strap.

Step 9: Start by disconnecting the (4 prong) Com-
munication Connector as shown by the arrow by pull-
ing up off the pins.
Step 10: Next, disconnect the (2 prong) Power Con-
nector as shown by the arrow by pulling up off the
pins. Place the damaged sorter bowl to the side.
Step 11: The new Sorter Bowl is ready to attach the
Communication and the Power wires from the Crys-
talPress to the bowl.
Step 12: A close up of how the (2) connectors should
appear when attached correctly. (Red arrow) to power,
(blue arrow) to communication.
Step 13:Once that the 2 connecting wires are
attached, you are ready to insert the new bowl into the
CrystalPress unit.
Step 14: Close up of 2 wires running through square
hole in the back of the base plate. You can help guide
them through as you lift and push the bowl.
Step 15: Push the bowl in so the threaded stud
pushes through the hole (arrow), then the (3)
threaded studs on the bottom (not seen) will fall into
place. See step (4) to view.
Step 16: Screw on the nylon locking nut. Do Not
tighten fully at this time. The (2) silver phillips
screws should be already inserted into the new bowl.
These screws are also not tightened all the way in at
this time.

Step 17: This is how the bowl should appear Step 18: Turn the CrystalPress over on its top again.
NOTE: Make sure that you have support to pre-
vent the machine from tipping back.
Step 19: With the 11/32” socket wrench, tighten
(clock wise) down the nuts until they just touch the
bracket plate. NOTE: You will fully tighten later.
The reason for this is you will still need to move
the bowl in or out for alignment. Turn the Crys-
talPress back over.
Step 20: You need to re-calibrate the new bowl
with the alignment tool (arrow). (This tool tip can be
screwed on the c-stick body). Place this tool in the jaw
and clamp tight. PLUG IN THE POWER & COMMU-
NICATION CHORDS and TURN ON.
Step 21: Open up the Control Center and click on
Sorter Bowl Pickup Location’ (arrow).
Step 22: Click on the sorter bowl number (1 or 2) that
you replaced (Blue arrow) Then click on the ‘Alignment
Tool Test’ (Red arrow). At this time, leave the ‘Current
Location To Test’ number alone (Yellow arrow).
Step 23: Press the ‘Perform Basic Test’ (Red arrow).
The carriage will move to the assigned bowl and lower
the tool. The goal is for the tool tip to be FULLY
inserted into the pocket hole.
Step 24: Once the carriage is over the area, it will
lower the tool tip into the pocket. If it is NOT aligned,
you can push the bowl in or out to align in that axis.
Once aligned in that axis, you can tighten the 3 screws
on the outside of the bowl. NOTE: The left/right
alignment is next. See (step 25).

Step 25: You are now ready to align the carriage right
or left. (You have already adjusted the bowl in or
out). With the alignment tool over the pocket, press
the jaw by hand, down into the pocket. The pin needs
to lower fully into the hole. To move the carriage left or
right, you need to change the number (black arrow).
Increase to move the carriage to the left, decrease to
move it to the right. Start by increments of 10. (Exam-
ple: 5105...change to 5115). Press ‘Perform Basic
test’ (red arrow)The carriage will move quickly a
small amount. Press the jaw down again and visually
see how close you are to the center. Keep adding/sub-
tracting as needed for the tool tip until fully inserted.
IMPORTANT: When you are satised, you MUST
press ‘Set Sorter Bowl’ after you enter the number.
This will set the location. The new number will appear
in the ‘Stored Pickup Locations’ (blue arrow).
Step 26: Remove the alignment tool, and place the
c-stick in the jaw. With a 6ss wheel in the bowl and
6ss stones, you are ready to test the alignment one
step further.
Step 27: The last step is to press the circle ‘C stick
Tool Test’ (arrow).
Step 28: With the Control Center open, press and
hold Ctrl/Alt/P. You will see 3 more tabs open. Press
‘Perform Alignment Test’ (Red arrow). The box on
the upper right will open. Enter 20 (amount of stones)
(Blue arrow). Press ‘Perform Test’ (Black arrow).
20 stones should be placed on the media if the align-
ment is correct. If you are pleased with the results,
empty the stones, remove the media. NOTE: Unplug
the power cord and the communication cable.
Turn the CrystalPress over.
Step 29:NOTE: Unplug power & comm cables.
With the CrystalPress back on its top, you can NOW
tighten the nylon nuts with the 11/32” socket wrench.
These nuts need to be tight so the bowl does not move
in or out. Replace the bottom pan cover with the 7
screws.
Step 30: Turn back over, plug in power/comm cables
and you are ready to resume running stones.
