Unscrew the lter cartridge from the funnel reservoir
Screw the new cartridge into the funnel reservoir and
repeat steps 2) to 5) under Before Using.
Re-set and re-activate the indicator as before.
• You can easily change the number of users by
entering the users’ setting mode: quickly double
press the button, then repeat steps 5b and 5c. When
the number of users is changed, the cartridge life is
recalculated automatically.
• Keep replacement cartridge in the original sealed
wrapper while not in use and store in a dry cool
place.
• When lling the funnel reservoir, do not place lter
cartridge opening directly under the running water.
NOTE:
REPLACING THE FILTER CARTRIDGE:
When the blinking warning symbol (‘X’) appears on the
cartridge image in the display, it means that the lter cartridge
should be replaced within one week. As the
week passes, all symbols on the screen start
blinking reminding you that lter cartridge life
has expired. Replace the lter cartridge.

BEFORE USING:
Clean all components of the Alka Jug. All parts can
be washed in dishwasher except lid - clean the lid by
hand.
Clean surface of lter cartridge, then screw it rmly into
the bottom of the funnel reservoir of the jug. Place the
unit into the jug.
Fill the funnel reservoir with water and let the water
lter into the jug. Discard the water and repeat the
entire process. This will rinse away any loose activated
carbon particles and prepare the lter cartridge for use.
NOTE: Carbon particles are not harmful to consume.
The jug can be lled with 1.5 litres of water at a time.
When this has passed through the cartridge into the
jug it is possible to ll the reservoir more as the jug
itself has a capacity of up to 2.5 litres. (Do not overll
the reservoir or water will ow out into the handle.

Set up the electronic cartridge life indicator:
5a Press the button and hold it down for a few seconds
until symbols appear on the screen. Release the
button and the blinking symbol for users appears on
the screen.
5b Case 1: Four faces and cartridge icon (with cross
through) are blinking: double click button (a fast
double click), in order to nd one user (smiley face)
blinking, this allows you to change the number of
users. Go to 5c
Case 2: One user is blinking. Go to 5c
pH TESTING: The cartridge life is accurately tested by using
pH drops (Ionza pH test bottle): pour 20ml of Alka Jug water into
a glass, add 2 drops of testing liquid, and mix. The resulting colour
should be blue or purple, indicating an alkaline reading of pH9 to
9.5. When the colour becomes turquoise, the cartridge is exhausted,
and needs replacing. Testing means you will get the most life from
your cartridge. Please note: if your water source is acidic, water
from the Alka Jug won’t be as alkaline. It is possible to put the water
through the Alka Jug twice to achieve higher alkaline levels. Test
your source water for pH to see the difference.
COOKING: You can also use the
alkaline water for cooking wonderful
soups, stocks, rice and pasta.
5c Set the number of users by pressing the button
again until the desired number of users is displayed.
(Maximum is 4).
5d Next, press the button and hold it down for a few
seconds until symbols appear on the screen. The
indicator is activated. NOTE: The indicator will cut
off if the button is not pressed within 30 seconds of
programming the timer. If this happens, repeat the steps
avove.
To turn off the LCD display:

health properties best, use a vessel that you can cap.
