Thank you for cho en 9BXAS/9BXAN/9BXAS-A/9BXAN-A/9ZXAS/9ZXAN mainboard. Thi i a
multifunction motherboard with mo t flexibility you can find in today’ computer market. The
motherboard integrate both Intel Pentium®II / Pentium®III & Celeron™(Slot 1 & Socket 370)
proce or interface into a tandard ATX compatible y tem along with 3D Stereo Sound Sy tem
audio chip. Moreover, thi motherboard allow you conditionally approach 133MHz * of Front Side
Bu Frequency.

The 9BXAS/9BXAN/9BXAS-A/9BXAN-A/9ZXAS/9ZXAN are de ign for the PC u er who want
highe t po ible quality and value in a mall package. Thi motherboard include following main

1-2-1 Overview
Support both Slot 1 & Socket 370 CPU interface (You can only use one CPU interface at
a time).
Support Jump-less solution for setting Front Side Bus Frequency (CPU ost Clock) and
CPU ratio under CPU ost/PCI clock of C IPSET FEATURES SETUP.
Conditionally support 133M z * of Front Side Bus Frequency. This function allow user
select CPU Bus Frequency by the BIOS to approach Over-Clock possibility.
Provide PC ealth Monitoring to track CPU temperature, system temperature, system
voltage, and fan speed. When CPU current temperature is over CPU warning
temperature, system will slow down automatically in order to reduce the CPU’s
temperature. (For 9BXAS/9BXAN only)
Logo-DIY: Provide CBROM utility for user to create their own loge in the BIOS.
Built in high quality PCI-Based RTF 3D Extension Positional Audio Chip

ardware Installation
2-1 Unpacking
Thi mainboard package hould contain the following:
The 9BXAS/9BXAN/9BXAS-A/9BXAN-A/9ZXAS/9ZXAN mainboard
USER’S MANUAL for mainboard
Cable et for IDE x1, Floppy x1
CD for Driver PACK
The mainboard contain en itive electronic component that can be ea ily damaged by electron-
tatic, o the mainboard hould be left in it original packing until it i in talled.
Unpacking and in tallation hould be done on a grounded anti- tatic mat.
The operator hould be wearing an anti tatic wri tband, grounded at the ame point a the anti-
tatic mat.
In pect the mainboard carton for obviou damage. Shipping and handling may cau e damage to
your board. Be ure there are no hipping and handling damage on the board before proceeding.
After opening the mainboard carton, extract the y tem board and place it only on a grounded
anti- tatic urface component ide up. Again in pect the board for damage.
Pre down on the entire ocket IC’ to make ure that they are properly in erted. Do thi only on
with the board placed on a firm flat urface.
Warning: Do not apply power to the board if it has been damaged.
You are now ready to in tall your mainboard. The mounting hole pattern on the mainboard
matche the ATX y tem board.
It i a umed that the cha i i de igned for a tandard ATX main board mounting. Place the
cha i on the anti- tatic mat and remove the cover.
Take the pla tic clip , Nylon tand-off and crew for mounting the y tem board, and keep them
eparate.

2-7 Central Processing Unit (CPU)
2-7-1 The mainboard provide a Slot-1 for Pentium II/III proce or. The CPU on board mu t have
a fan or heat ink attached to prevent overheating.
WA NING: Without a fan or heat sink, the CPU will overheat and cause damage to both the CPU and
the motherboard.
To in tall a CPU, fir t turn off your y tem and remove it cover. Locate the Slot- 1 and place
RETENTION MODULE a following:
IMPO TANT: You must set jumper JP14,JP15 for “Bus Frequency Selection” on page6 depending on
the CPU that you install.
1. Attach heat ink to the CPU.
2. Place Part A on lot-1 and gently crew four corner on top of the mother- board.
2-7-2 The mainboard al o provide a 370-pin ZIF Socket 370. The CPU on motherboard mu t
have a fan attached to prevent overheating.
To in tall a CPU, fir t turn off your y tem and remove it cover. Locate the ZIF ocket and open
it by fir t pulling the lever ideway away from the ocket then upward to a 90-degree right angle.
In ert the CPU with the white dot a your guide. The white dot hould point toward the end of
the level. The CPU ha a corner pin for three of the four corner , the CPU will only fit in the one

orientation a hown a follow. With the added weight of the CPU fan, no force i required to
in ert the CPU. Once completely in erted, hold down on the fan and clo e the ocket’ lever.
IMPO TANT: You can setting the CPU ratio and Host Frequency in the BIOS setup on page 18
2-8 Expansion Cards
You mu t read the documentation come with expan ion card for any hardware or oftware
etting that may be required to etup your pecific card.
Installation Procedure:
1. Read the documentation from your expan ion card.
2. Set any nece ary jumper on your expan ion card.
3. Remove your computer’ cover.
4. Remove the bracket on the lot you intend to u e.
5. Carefully align the card’ connector and pre firmly.
6. Secure the card on the lot with the crew you remove in tep 4.
7. Replace the computer’ cover.
8. Setup the BIOS if nece ary.
9. In tall the nece ary oftware driver for your expan ion card.
Assigning IRQs for Expansion Cards
Some expan ion card may require an IRQ to operate. Generally an IRQ mu t be exclu ively
a igned to only one device. In an tandard de ign there are 16 IRQ available but mo t of them
are occupied by the y tem and leave 6 free for expan ion card .
With mo t recent device, the BIOS automatically a ign an IRQ number to PCI expan ion card .
Plea e make ure there are no any of two device u e ame IRQ , otherwi e your computer may
experience ome problem when tho e two device are in u e at the ame time.
Assigning DMA Channels for Expansion Cards
Some device may al o need to u e a DMA (Direct Memory Acce ) channel. DMA a ignment
for thi motherboard are handled the ame way a the IRQ a ignment proce de cribed above.
You can elect a DMA channel in the PCI and PnP configuration ection of the BIOS Setup utility.
2-9 External Connectors
1. Power Connector: ATX Power Connector (20-pin block): PL1
ATX Power Supply connector. Thi i a new defined 20-pin connector that u ually come
with ATX ca e. The ATX Power Supply allow to u e oft power on momentary witch that
connect from the front panel witch to 2-pin Power On jumper pole on the motherboard.
When the power witch on the back of the ATX power upply turned on, the full power will not
come into the y tem board until the front panel witch i momentarily pre ed. Pre thi
witch again will turn off the power to the y tem board.

2. PS/2 Mouse & PS/2 Keyboard Connector: MINI-DIN
The connector for PS/2 keyboard and PS/2 Mou e.
3. USB Port connector: USB
The connector are 4-pin connector that connect USB device to the y tem board.
4. Parallel Port Connector (25-pin female): PRINT
Parallel Port connector i a 25-pin D-Subminiature Receptacle connector. The On-board
Parallel Port can be di abled through the BIOS SETUP. Plea e refer to Chapter 3
“INTEGRATED PERIPHERALS SETUP” ection for more detail information.
5. Serial Port COMA, COMB: COM1, COM2
