1 Safety instructions and warnings
To ensure safe operation ofthe device, it is necessary to read thefollowing
safety instructions and warnings carefullyand comply with them.
The safetyinstructions summarized here are repeatedin the corresponding
chapters, where necessary.
1.1 General
1.1.1 Definitions
Operator
Owner or person whoprovides the units described here to users on acom-
mercialbasis. The operator is responsiblefor the correct operationof the unit
as wellas compliance with the maintenance intervals.
Private user
Owner or person whodoes not usethe units described here on acommercial
basis,but instead uses them privatelyor makes them available to other users.
The private user is responsible for the correct operationof the unit as well as
compliance with the maintenance intervals.
User
Person who uses the unit.
Staff
Peoplewho are responsible, onbehalf of the operator,for the operation,
cleaning andgeneral maintenance work andwho instruct the users in the
operation ofthe units.
Electrician
A person with suitable professional training, knowledge, experienceand
knowledgeof the applicableregulations which enable them to identify and
avoid thedangers which can arisefrom working with electricity.
Authorized, trained and qualified personnel
Qualifiedstaff from an external companywho have been trained and author-
ized by the manufacturer to undertakeassembly and maintenance work on
specific equipment.

1.2 Intended use
This unitserves the purpose of cosmetic tanningfor one adult person with
skin suitable for tanning. More detailed information can also be found on
pages 11 and 37.
Somepeople are notpermitted to use the unit, see Section '1.4.1 Prohibited
usage'.
The unit maynot be used by users withreduced physical, sensory or mental
capabilities or who have insufficient experience and/or knowledgewithout
supervision.If there is any doubt asto whether this can be achieved, use of
theunit by these users is prohibited!
The device may only be operated with the specified or equivalent lamps. The
tanning times given in this instruction manual are valid only for the specified
lamp set.
Any other use shallbe considered improper. The manufacturer cannot be
held liable for damage or injuries resulting from improper use.The operator or
private user alone bears the risk for improper use.
Proper use also includescompliance with the manufacturer’s instructions and
its operating and maintenance conditions.The unit may only be repaired by
authorised, trained professionals familiar with thisunit and that havebeen
informed ofthe dangers involved.
1.3 Foreseeable misuse
The following uses of theunit are explicitly prohibited:
The unit maynot be used by several peopleat the same time.The base
may otherwisebreak and cause injuries.
Peoplewith a body weightof more than 135 kg may not use the unit. The
base may otherwise break and cause injuries.
Exceeding the specified tanning times may result in sunburn and long-
term skin damage.
When the unitis in use no other people may remain in theroom, in par-
ticular children.
While usingthe unit no petsmay be present in theroom.
Do nothang any objects on the canopy that place anystrain on it.
The inlets and outlets must not be covered, e.g.with a hand towelor
clothing.
People under 18 years ofage may not use the device.
The unit mustnot be connected to a multi-plug or socket board.
The unit mustalways be connected to a separate socket with its own
fuse.

1.4 Tanning safety information
1.4.1 Prohibited usage

UV radiation
Danger of skinand eye injuries or skin diseases!
–Please observe thefollowing instructions.
The following people may not use the device:
Peopleunder 18 years of age
Peoplewho cannot tan
Peoplewho cannot tan in thesun whithout risking asunburn
Peoplewho easily sunburn whenin the sun
Peoplewith acute sunburn
Peoplewho repeatedly suffered from serious sunburn duringchildhood
Peoplewith naturally red hair
Peoplewith atypically discolouredareas of skin
People who haveor have had skin cancer
People who suffer from anincreased risk of skin cancer (e.g. cases of
skin cancer inthe family)
People amongwhose closest relatives amelanoma has occurred
People who are being medically treated for photosensitivity
People taking photosensitivity causing medicine
Peoplewith freckles and people who tend to develop freckles
Peoplewith more than 16 moles on their body (2 mm diameter or larger)
People with atypical moles(atypical moles are, for example, asymmet-
rical moles with a diameter greater than 5 mm, with varying pigmentation
and irregular edges)
–Seek medical advice without fail if in doubt!

The following people may only use the device after consultation with
their doctor:
Peoplewith chronic illnesses, in particular those related to the skin
Peoplewith illnesses of the immune system/ auto-immune diseases
Peoplewith collagenosis(e. g. lupus erythematodes, scleroderma)
Peoplesuffering from rosacea (copper rose)
Peoplewith spider veins (e.g. couperose, Osler's disease,spider nevi)
People with low blood pressure,cardiovascular diseases
Peoplesuffering from venous diseases
Peoplesuffering from cancer
Peoplewith fresh wounds following an operation or surgery
Peoplewith tattoos or piercingswhich have not fully healed
Pregnant women
Should there beany doubt with regard to compatibility, despite noknown
medicalside effects, a test applicationof a maximum of 5minutes should be
initially carried out and thereactions observed. If no adverse reactions are
foundafter 48 hours,normal application may bebegun.
1.4.2 Important notes
All other people must observe the following instructions:
Danger of skinand eye injuries or skin diseases!
The skincan become sunburnt when exposed toexcessive radiation.
Excessive,frequently repeated UVradiation exposure from natural sun-
lightor UV devices can resultin premature ageing of the skin and an in-
creased risk ofskin tumours.
Particular caution isadvisable for individuals whoare especially sensitive
to UVradiation, and when certainmedicaments or cosmetics are used.
Seek medicaladvice without fail if in doubt!
Seek medicaladvice if any unexpectedconsequences, such as itching,
occur within 48 hours ofthe first tanning session.
Behaviour before, during and after a sunbath:
During thetanning session no other peoplemay remain in the room,in
particular nochildren.
Remove alljewellery (includingpiercings) before the tanning session.
Remove cosmeticsbefore tanning and donot use sun screen products.
Do notuse any products intended to accelerate tanning.
UV light can causeirreversible eye injuries or skindamage. The surface
ofunprotected eyes can becomeinflamed and theretina can also be
damaged by excessive radiation incertain cases. Cataracts canform af-
ter frequently repeated exposure to radiation. Use the accompanying
UV-impermeable goggles (Order no.auf www.dayon.com). Contact
lenses and sunglasses are notreplacements for the safety goggles!
Protect sensitive skinareas such as scars, tattoos and genitals before
tanning.
Observe the recommended tanningtimes.

During atanning session the quantity of radiation which results in the skin
reddening (MED,minimum erythemadose) may not be exceeded. If red-
dened skin occurs around 16-24 hours after the tanningsession you may
not use the tanning device again for one week. After one week you can
start againfrom the beginning with the first tanning session in accordance
with thetanning table.
The time between thefirst two sessions on the sunbed must be atleast
48 hours! Donot take an additional sunbath on the same day.
See a doctor if stubborn swelling, sores or pigmented moles form on the
skin.
General instructions
Increasing tanning requires increased exposure time (= radiation time) or
after a certain degree of tanninghas been achieved, increased tanning is
notpossible. However, the radiation time maynot be extended asdesired
within the scope of thepermissible radiation doses! Therefore, only a cer-
tain level of final tanning, which depends on the skin type,can be
achieved withoutendangering your health.

1.4.3 Skin type descriptions

Burns and long-term damage!
People with skin type I may not use the tanning device.
The following applies to people with skintypes II, III and IV:
–Observe the tanningtimes.
– Observe the safety instructions.

The tanningtimes are only valid for thelamp set specified on
thelamp set sticker.
The tanning sessions should be at least 48hours apart.
The maximum dosageof 25 kJ/m² per year should notbe
exceeded.

be exceeded.
The maximum tanning time must not exceed 33.

1.5.1 Operator's obligations
As the operator you are responsiblefor providing clear operating, cleaning
and maintenance instructions andensuring the intendeduse and the proper
operation ofthe device by means of training and instruction for the personnel.
Your operating instructions mustenable the safe use andsafe operation of
the device andtake into account the characteristics and expertise of your
company and also the national work safety and environmental protection
regulations (within the European Union,the EU directive 89/391/EEC).
1.5.2 Personnel training
As the operator you are obliged to trainyour personnel and instruct themin
theestablished legal and accident preventionregulations. Ensure that your
personnel have understood andobserve these operatinginstructions. This
applies in particular to the
information in 'Intendeduse' and 'Foreseeable misuse'
safety instructions in the 'Operation' chapter

–Please makethe instructionsand additional information from the manu-
facturer available to the personnel at their workplace.
– Regularly check your personnel's safety consciousness and awareness

cleaning after every tanning session.
–Please ensure thatyour personnel provide your customerswith appropri-
ate advice, inparticular regarding tanningtimes, possible risks and the
operation ofthe device.

tocheck the customer'sidentification in the event of doubt.

1.5.4 Transport, assembly and setup
The unit isdelivered by a specialist company and assembled and set upby
an authorised service company.

trained and instructed personnel.
– The unit mustbe connected with a mains power cable
with a ‘Schuko’ protectedearth plug.

–Do notchange, obstruct or block the air inflow and
outflow to thedevice or make any unauthorized chang-

Where there are great differences in temperature between
thetransport route and the installation site thedevice may
notbe put into operation immediately after being set up.

Optimum ambient temperature: Between +15 °Cand +32 °C
Storage temperature:Between -15 °C and+60 °C
The device is not to be used outdoors.
Adaptation of the unit isrequired for operating altitudes greater than 2000m
above sea level in order toguarantee trouble-free operation.
Fundamentally, theunit is not suitable for operationin mobile facilities (e.g.
ships,buses,trains).

1.5.5 Commissioning

Damaged mains power cable!
Danger to persons due to electric shock and risk of burns.
–The unit mustnot be used if themains power cable is
damaged.
NOTE!
The process for replacingthe mains power cable is de-
scribed in Section 2and 2.2.
The unit isdelivered ready tobe used and plugged in.
Please inform customer service if youdiscover any transport damagewhen
unpacking and installing the unit.
Please observe theinformation below to makesure the damage can be regu-
lated quickly and without any problems:
Obvious damageis to be reported in writing within 4 working days – de-
livery dateand receipt of the report included –to the shipping company.
Ifyou notice any transport damage duringsetup, please report it straight
toyour setup team.
You mustclaim for thedamage sustained from theshipping compa-
ny/setup team which made thedelivery, as risks during shipping are the
client's responsibility under theshipping company's terms and conditions
ofbusiness.

1.5.6 Operation and maintenance
Error-free operation, maintenance andservice are required in order to ensure
thatthe health and safety of theusers is not endangered during operation and
toensure that the unit is in a fault-free operatingcondition.
Always abide by the information andrecommendationsgiven in this operating
manual.Ensure that the intervals for the inspection, maintenance and service
are complied with.Please ensure that the lamps are replaced after the speci-
fied usagetime.
Unauthorised modifications and changes to the unitare prohibited. Failure to
comply with this invalidates the operating licence!

1.5.7 Decommissioning
The mains plug mustbe disconnected inorder to temporarily or permanently
decommission it.
The legalrequirements regarding disposal must be observed when perma-
nently decommissioning the unit.
1.5.8 Storage
Store thedevices in a dry location with a stable temperature.Once the device
has cooled off, packit in plastic wrapping to protect it against scratches.
Storage temperature:Between -15 °C and+60 °C
1.5.9 Disposal
Environmental regulations –
disposal of lamps and batteries
Lamps contain fluorescentmaterials and other waste products containing
mercury.
Within the European Union the nationalimplementation of the WasteFrame-
work Directive2018/851/ECapplies. According to the national waste disposal
laws and in accordance with the municipal waste regulations; proof mustbe
provided of the proper disposalof lamps.
Your localsales agency will be happy to assistyou with the disposal oflamps.
– Report thenumber of lamps to your agency bytelephone or in writing.
The agency will then provideyou with the nameof a free delivery point for
your lamps or will take care, inconjunction with a disposal company, ofthe
collectionand proper disposal of the lamps.This service is available for a fee.
Local national laws apply outsideGermany. Please contactyour local sales
agency.
Packaging
All packagingconsists of 100 % recyclablematerials. Packaging broughtinto
circulationby the JK Corporate Group thatis no longer required can be re-
turned to the JK Corporate Group. Your partner agency or dealer will be hap-
py to advise.
Disposal of old devices
The device hasbeen manufactured using recyclable materials.The JK Corpo-
rate Group will provide you with information on the content or potential haz-
ards of thematerials used.
The manufacturer is obliged to take back and dispose ofcertain electrical and
electronic components in accordance with the 2012/19/EC Directive.

1.6 Signs and stickers on the device
Danger area warning signs andimportantinformation about components are
attached to the device. Thesigns shown below are examples.Ensure that the
warning signs are always clearly recognisableand legible. Any missing warn-
ing signs or stickers must be replaced.

The sticker islocated on the well at the feetend of the unit.
