Lieferumfang
Das Gerät besitzt ein wasserdichtes
Gehäuse. Es verfügt über eine
integrierte Elektronik mit einem
eingebauten Trockenlaufschutz
(„ADRPS“ = „absolute dry run protection
shield“, zum Patent angemeldet).
Das Anschlusskabel ist bereits
wasserdicht montiert. Der piezo-
keramische Ultraschallwandler besitzt
eine spezielle Schutzbeschichtung.

Warning: Safety glasses and protective
gloves appropriate for ultrasound must
be worn while installing or testing the
LIQUIFOG®®. Installation and testing of
the LIQUIFOG®®should be performed by a
qualied and trained technician. Failure to
follow this warnings may result in serious
injury to the skin, eyes or other parts of the
body.
Warning: The LIQUIFOG®®must be
disconnected from the electrical power
supply before cleaning it. Cleaning of the
LIQUIFOG®®should only be performed by a
person trained and qualied to clean this
device. Failure to follow these warnings

or other parts of the body.
Warning: No person should have direct
contact with the LIQUIFOG®®when it is
connected to the electrical power supply,
unless such person is a qualied technician.
Only qualied technicians should install or
test the LIQUIFOG®®. When the LIQUIFOG®®is
connected to the electrical power supply,
only qualied technicians should open the
box which houses the LIQUIFOG®®, or have
any direct contact with it. Failure to follow
these warnings may result in serious injury

Scope of supply
The unit comprises a watertight
housing and integrated electronics
with “ADRPS“ = “absolute dry run
protection shield“, patent pending).
The supply cable is already xed
watertight. The piezoceramic
ultrasound generator has a special
protection coating.

Funktionsprinzip
Das Gerät mit dem Ultraschall-
zerstäuber bildet den Boden eines
Flüssigkeitsbehälters, über dem
ein bestimmtes Flüssigkeitsniveau
gehalten werden muss. Die
Piezokeramik wird durch eine
hochfrequente Wechselspannung in
Schwingungen versetzt. Es bilden
sich Ultraschallwellen aus, die ihre
maximale Stärke auf einer bestimmten
Flüssigkeitshöhe besitzen.
Aus diesem Bereich hoher Ultra-
schallkonzentration (= Brennpunkt)
lösen sich kleine Flüssigkeits-
tröpfchen - das Aerosol. Das Flüssig-
keitsniveau von 50 mm ist mit einer
Genauigkeit von 5 mm konstant zu
halten. Dies kann z. B. durch einen
Schwimmerschalter oder nach dem
Überlaufprinzip geschehen. Die Menge
des erzeugten Aerosols kann über
eine externe Steuerspannung oder ein
Potentiometer (nicht im Lieferumfang)
verändert werden.

Functional Principle
The unit with the ultrasonic atomizer
forms the bottom of a liquid reservoir.
The liquid has to be kept at a constant
level of 50 mm with an accuracy of
5 mm. A oat control switch or
overow control can be used for this
purpose. The piezoceramic transducer
is driven by a high frequency RF
generator and transmits ultrasonic
waves which are focussed at the
surface of the liquid (focal point).
In this area of high concentration
of ultrasound (= focal point), small
droplets of liquid are generated
which form the desired aerosol. The
aerosol output can be controlled
by an external) control voltage or a
potentiometer (not supplied).

Einbauhinweis
Für eine besonders gute Aerosolaus-
beute empfehlen wir, den LIQUIFOG®®
um ca. 5° geneigt einzubauen.
Note
To improve the eciency of the atomi-
zer, we recommend to install the unit at
an angle of 5 degrees to the horizontal.

Anschlussmöglichkeiten
Neben den Anschlussleitungen für
die Versorgung (weiss/braun) hat das
Gerät noch drei Steuerleitungen:
Grün: liefert einen Konstantstrom
I = 1 mA
Gelb: dient als Steuereingang
U = 0 - 10 V DC
Grau: 0 V, d.h. Masse des Gerätes.
Die Spannung an gelb
bezieht sich auf diese Leitung.
Zur Zerstäuberleistungseinstellung
dient die vom Steuereingang (gelb)
gemessene Spannung (0 V - 10 V).
Diese Spannung wird entweder vom
Konstantstrom (grün, 1 mA) erzeugt,
der durch das Potentiometer ießt,
oder extern durch einen Regler vorge-
geben.

Connection possibilities
The unit has 3 control wires in
addition to the supply wires
(white/brown):
Green: supplies a constant
current I = 1 mA
Yellow: serves as a control
input U = 0 - 10 V DC
Grey: 0 V is the reference potential
of the power control circuit
The measured voltage (0 V - 10 V) of the
control input (yellow) is used for the
adjustment of the atomizing power. This
voltage is either produced by the constant
current (green, 1 mA), owing through
the potentiometer or set by an external
controller.

Die Methode 2) erlaubt die parallele
Ansteuerung mehrerer Geräte gleich-
zeitig durch Verbinden der Steuer-
leitungen grau und grün der zu
steuernden Geräte.
Achtung: Die verwendete Stromversor-
gung muss den 1.3-fachen Sicherungs-
nennstrom (4.1 A) dauernd aushalten
können oder bei Überlastung abschal-
ten (z.B. durch Thermoschalter)!
Die ab Werk montierte Anschluss-
leitung nicht kürzen!

The method 2) allows a parallel activation
of several units at the same time by
connecting the control wires grey and
green of the units to be controlled.
Please note: The power supply has to
constantly withstand 1.3 times the rated
current of the fuse (4.1 A) or has to switch
o in the case of overload (e.g. through a
thermo switch)!
Do not shorten the factory supplied
connecting lead of the unit!

Das Gerät verfügt über einen
integrierten Trockenlaufschutz
(„ADRPS“) und schaltet sich bei
Betrieb ohne Flüssigkeit ab.
Im Betrieb ist das Berühren des
Brennpunktes (siehe Seite 3) un-
bedingt zu vermeiden, da aufgrund
der hohen Energiedichte Gewebe-
schädigungen verursacht werden
können.
Eine mechanische Einwirkung auf
die Piezokeramik (z.B. Verkratzen
der Oberäche) kann zur Zerstö-
rung dieses Bauteils führen und
damit den Ausfall des Gerätes
bewirken.
Das zugeführte Wasser sollte
möglichst < 8 dH (Härtebereich 1)
aufweisen und nicht mit Schwebe-
stoen, die sich ablagern, verunrei-
nigt sein.
Ein Betrieb mit Wasser > 8 dH
(Härtebereich 1) bewirkt Ablage-
rungen im Gerät, die häugeres
Säubern (Entkalken) bedingen.
Reinigung:
Vor Arbeiten am Gerät, wie z.B.
Reinigung, etc., ist die Strom-
versorgung abzuschalten.
Die Piezokeramik ist mit einem
weichen Tuch zu reinigen, Kalkab-
lagerungen sind mit einer 5%igen
Wasser-Essiglösung zu entfernen.
Betriebshinweise






The unit has an internal dry run
protection („ADRPS“) and switches
o when running dry to prevent
overheating of the atomizer.
Never touch the focal point area
(see page 3!). High concentrated
ultrasound may cause damage to
the dermal tissue.
A strong mechanical impact on the
piezoceramic atomizer may nega-
tively inuence the life time of this
part and may even destroy it.
The water used to atomize should
be of low water hardness and
should not contain any particulate
material.
Operation with water of higher
hardness may cause residues which
must be regulated by more fre
quent cleaning (descaling).
Cleaning instructions:
Please note: Disconnect the device
from the power supply before
cleaning.
Clean the piezoceramic using a soft
cloth. Remove any lime scale using
a solution of 95% water and 5%
vinegar.

For USA original purchasers only:
Denitions: The „LIQUIFOG®“ is an ultrasonic liquid
atomizer incorporated into refrigeration units. The „ori-
ginal purchaser“ is the manufacturer of the refrigeration
unit that will install the LIQUIFOG® into its refrigeration
unit and the person or entity that directly purchases the
LIQUIFOG® from Johnson Matthey Piezo Products GmbH
(hereinafter „original purchaser“ ).
Johnson Matthey Piezo Products GmbH warranties are
limited to and only provided to the original purchaser
of the LIQUIFOG® as dened in the „Denitions“ section.
This warranty is not extended to or provided to the end
user or any subsequent purchasers of the LIQUIFOG®.
This warranty is not assignable or transferable to
subsequent purchasers. Johnson Matthey Piezo Products
GmbH warrants the LIQUIFOG® to be free from defects
in material and workmanship if installed in accordance
with the Warnings and Installation Instructions for
Product Manufacturer.
The warranty period of the LIQUIFOG® shall be for the
rst 12 months starting from the date of delivery of the
LIQUIFOG® to the original purchaser who purchased the
LIQUIFOG® from Johnson Matthey Piezo Products GmbH.
Parts Replaced Under Warranty: This provision applies
to parts replaced under warranty only. The warranty
period of parts replaced under this warranty is 6 months
from the date of delivery of the replacement part to the
original purchaser.
What This Warranty Does Not Cover:
Part(s) Which Is(Are) Not Defective:
a. This warranty shall not cover any depreciation or
damage caused by misuse, abuse, improper or un-
authorized assembly, modication, service or storage,
inadequate transportation, improper installation or
resulting from accidents or failure to use the LIQUIFOG®
according to the Warnings and Installation Instructions
for Product Manufacturer.
b. Except for the cost of the LIQUIFOG® itself, no costs
of maintenance, service, installation or replacement are
covered by this warranty.
c. This warranty shall not apply to any damage or loss
which is attributed to other causes not attributable to
Johnson Matthey Piezo Products GmbH, such as ood,
re, lightning and other acts of God.
Costs not included under this warranty include any
costs for transporting any part of the LIQUIFOG® to an
authorized Johnson Matthey Piezo Products GmbH
dealer. The original purchaser is responsible for all
shipping charges for the parts in excess of those that are
usual and customary, any local taxes and costs involved
in investigating complaints.

IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND
FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
THIS WARRANTY AND JOHNSON MATTHEY PIEZO
PRODUCTS GMBH´S OBLIGATION UNDER IT ARE THE
PURCHASER‘S SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY AGAINST
JOHNSON MATTHEY PIEZO PRODUCTS GMBH FOR ALL
CLAIMS ARISING HEREUNDER OR RELATING HERETO
WHETHER SUCH CLAIMS ARE BASED ON BREACH OF
CONTRACT, BREACH OF WARRANTY, TORT (INCLU-
DING NEGLIGENCE AND STRICT LIABILITY) OR OTHER
THEORIES.
The remedies of the purchaser set forth herein are
exclusive and in no event shall the original purchaser be
entitled to direct or indirect incidental, consequential or
other similar damages, including, but not limited to, loss
of prots, cost for rental of substitute equipment, loss of
use, loss of income, loss of production, increased cost of
operation, spoilage of or damage to material and other
commercial losses.
The total liability of Johnson Matthey Piezo Products
GmbH with respect to claims arising hereunder or rela-
ting hereto whether such claims are based on breach of
contract, tort (including negligence and strict liability)
or otherwise shall not exceed the price of parts or the
LIQUIFOG® furnished hereunder.
Any action by the original purchaser arising hereunder
or relating hereto, whether based on breach of contract,
tort (including negligence and strict liability) or other
theories, must be commenced within one year after
the cause of action accrues or it shall be barred and
the original purchaser expressly waives any statute of
limitations which might apply by operation of law or
otherwise.
If there are any disputes arising from or concerning the
limited warranty provided by Johnson Matthey Piezo
Products GmbH, then the terms of the limited warranty
will be governed by the Uniform Commercial Code.
If any clause within this warranty is found or held to be
invalid and/or unenforceable, the remaining portions
that are not found or held to be invalid and/or unenfor-
ceable will survive and will continue to have legal eect.
Any technical advice furnished by Johnson Matthey
Piezo Products GmbH to the original purchaser is an
accommodation to the original purchaser. Johnson
Matthey Piezo Products GmbH assumes no liability the-
refore, and the original purchaser accepts such advice at
the original purchaser‘s sole risk.
Any use, incorporation or operation of the LIQUIFOG®
contrary to the Warnings and Installation Instruc-
tions for Product Manufacturer or any adjustment or
assembly procedures not recommended or authorized
by Johnson Matthey Piezo Products GmbH in writing or
in the Warnings and Installation Instructions for Product
Manufacturer shall immediately VOID this warranty.
