A single LZ-2290A Series machine is extremely versatile
and can perform many different stitching patterns.

It comes in two different models, one with standard specifications
and the other with an anti-material slip capability. For both
models, there are two subclass models, i.e., the "minute-quantity
lubrication type" and the "dry-head type", which eliminates oil
stains on sewing products. You may select the best-suited model
from the diversified subclasses according to your applications.
The machine is also provided with a newly-developed operation
panel, the IP-110. With this operation panel, you can easily
establish settings for stitch shapes and stitches, as well as conduct
setup changing, thereby achieving further increased availability.
A liquid crystal display has been
adopted. It displays stitch shapes,
zigzag width and standard lines with
pictographs and settings all together
on one screen to improve operability
of the panel.
The machine has added capabilities
that make the most out of the
computer-controlled sewing machine
functions, such as program stitching
(constant-dimension sewing), cycle
sewing and continuous sewing.
With these capabilities, the machine is
able to respond to sewing in various
processes.
Custom pattern data can be stored
using the same CompactFlashthat is
widely used for digital cameras.
This enables the sharing of custom
patterns, not only in one plant, but
also among two or more sewing
plants, by exchanging data via e-mail
systems.
The machine is provided as standard with fourteen different
basic zigzag stitching patterns grouped into eight different
types. You can choose the zigzag stitching pattern you want
directly on the operation panel (IP-110) of the machine body.
The zigzag width, needle throw position and number of blind
stitches can also be easily adjusted on the operation panel.
A single unit is extremely versatile and can perform straight
stitching, standard zigzag stitching, 2-step zigzag stitching,
3-step zigzag stitching, scallop stitching, and blind stitching.
As a result, the system is available for a far wider range of
applications.

You can quickly create an original stitching pattern on the operation
panel and then try to sew it on a trial basis.
A wider variation in design enables the machine to respond to wider
applications, such as foundations, ladies' wear and men's wear.

The thread tension mechanism, bobbin
case and feed timing have been improved
to produce soft-textured seams.
The machine is equipped with a hook-
driving shaft-offset mechanism which
places the hook-rotating shaft off-center
from the center of zigzag stroke of the
needle. This mechanism allows the blade
point of the hook to catch the needle
thread every time regardless of the needle
throwing direction. As a result, the
machine is immune to sewing troubles
such as stitch skipping and thread
breakage, annoyances likely to occur with
the conventional machine, especially
when the needle throws to the right.
For the minute-quantity lubrication type hook,
the inner hook is finished with titanium to keep it
from becoming hot. The machine requires only a
very small quantity of oil. This prevents oil stains
on the material and the improves durability of the
hook. In addition, the hook configuration is
carefully designed to avoid needle breakage.

With the culmination of advanced technologies, the LZ-2290A Series
Wider space under the arm
In the standard zigzag stitching mode with the zigzag width set
to 4mm, a frequently selected operating condition, the machine
sews at a top speed of 5,000rpm, that is the world's highest
available speed as a computer-controlled zigzag stitching
machine, to increase in productivity.
(The dry-head type and the anti-material-slip type machines are excluded.)
The machine is provided as standard
with a micro-lifter screw. This helps
prevent material slippage or damages
when using elastic materials.
JUKI has developed a new high-long arm machine head one size
larger than the head for the conventional lockstitch machine. With
its wider area under the arm, the machine permits easy handling of
the sewing material for improved operability. The shape of the
jaw gives the operator a clear view of the area around the needle.
Higher productivity
Since the machine supports the feed amount as large as
5mm, this single machine is able to handle various feed
types from standard feed to coarse feed. The coarse feed
is effective when sewing stretched elastic tapes in
processes such as elastic tape attachment to waistbands in
shorts. (For the anti-material-slip type machine, the maximum feed
amount is 2.5mm.)
The stitch dial is a stepless adjustable type. This enables
fine adjustment of the feed amount.
The machine is structured without an oil pan. Oil is supplied
from the oil tank installed on the machine to the hook and
needle bar.
In addition, the oil hole is located on the machine arm.
This is quite helpful to female operators; since oiling can be
carried out without tilting the machine head.
Time and effort are conventionally required to remove the
knee lifter and cover. This means the machine head can be
easily tilted when cleaning the machine or performing
maintenance.
A safety switch is mounted on the machine head. If the
machine is tilted with the power on, the safety switch is
activated and disables the machine operation. In this
disabled condition, the machine will never run even if you
depress the foot pedal.

The machine comes with a more rigid and well-balanced
machine head frame. This, coupled with the direct-drive
method, dramatically reduces the noise and vibration of the
machine and helps reduce operator fatigue.

When this device is installed, the LZ-2290A-MM(without
automatic thread trimmer) can perform reverse feed operation.
(The mirroring switch for scallop stitching is used as the push-
button-type reverse feed switch.)
This handy switch is used to control various functions*. It is most
effective when operating the machine in a standing position.
(✽Needle up/down correction, 1-stitch correction, reverse-stitch correction,
auto lifter and thread trimmer, etc.)
The aforementioned parts are used when a lockstitching type
presser foot is installed on the machine.
The blade point of this hook prevents abrasion.
The hook with non-rotational bobbin eliminates sewing
troubles resulting from bobbin idling. It provides a uniform
bobbin thread tension at all times, thereby guaranteeing a
consistent stitch formation.
The amount of tape to be fed can be adjusted in accordance
with the sewing speed of the machine. It is adaptable to
processes for attaching reinforcement tape, attaching elastic
tape or lace to foundation.
Applies tension to desired portions of the tape fed from tension-
free tape puller. The device is started/stopped by operating the
knee switch. This increases operator productivity without
interrupting the sewing work.

●With the IP-100D, program stitching and cycle sewing can be set. By using this function, it is
possible to sew labels with constant-dimension sewing or to topstitch welt pockets while
automatically changing over the stitching type from straight stitching to zigzag stitching
according to the number of stitches desired. This contributes to improved working efficiency. In addition, multi-layer sewing, continuous
sewing, one-shot sewing and the beginning point of a scallop pattern can be programmed easily through the operation panel.
●A liquid crystal display has been adopted for the display unit. It displays settings for the stitch
shape, zigzag width and stitch base line position together on one screen with pictographs,
facilitating operation. At the time of creating/modifying a custom pattern, data can be entered
with the shape of the pattern visible on the display, leading to increased efficiency.
●Custom pattern data can be stored using the same SmartMedia that is widely used for
digital cameras.
●Stitch pitch in the normal (to +5) and reverse (to -5) directions
can be set on the panel.
●Display style of the custom pattern can be changed over
between the entire pattern display and partial pattern display.
●Normal/reverse feed amounts are established on the panel. This enables the machine to perform sewing with consistency, preventing
unevenness in the feed amount. Since the sewing conditions are established on the panel, they can be easily restored to a previous setting.
●Reverse feed stitch length can be increased and decreased directly on Reverse Feed Stitching Setting Screen of the peration panel, when the
reverse feed lever is press down. At the corners of labels, the stitch number per inch can be adjusted to sew the corners with consistency.
●For men's garments, the machine is used in processes such as topstitching for welt pockets,
sewing collar cloths and sewing labels. For ladies' garments, it can perform pattern stitching for
the collars and front bodies of jackets and blouses. In addition, original patterns can be created
using the custom pattern feature, enabling the machine to be utilized for a broader range of uses.
●In addition to the conventional eight types and 14 patterns of zigzag stitching, the machine is
able to perform T-shape stitching and covering stitching. As a result, the machine is equipped as
standard with a 14-type and 20-pattern sewing capability. Furthermore, the machine is able to
perform condensation stitching (for reverse feed stitching) at a high speed during sewing to
dramatically increase the operating rate of the facility.

The machine is built around the newly developed LZ-2290A-7 machine head.
In addition to the conventional types of stitching, the machine is able to perform
T-shape stitching and zigzag pattern stitching to broaden its range of applications.

●The machine comes with a direct-drive type motor. As a result, the
machine quickly starts and promises an upgraded stopping accuracy and
excellent responsiveness.
●The arm of the machine head is longer than a normal arm by one size,
offering a longer distance from machine arm to needle to facilitate
handling of the sewing material on the machine, leading to improved
workability.
●Thread trimming mechanism notable for its simple structure and extremely
reliable performance. The knife-sliding method employed by the thread
trimmer guarantees that the thread is cut regardless of the needle throw
position.
●The machine is provided as standard with a micro-lifter screw. This helps
prevent material slippage or damages when using elastic materials.
●Since the hook and needle bar is lubricated with a minute-quantity of
lubricating oil, sewing products are rarely stained with oil.
●The zigzag width and feed amount are stored on a stitch-shape
basis. It is therefore not necessary, after changing the stitch
shape, to re-adjust it. For a custom pattern, data can be
programmed on a stitch-by-stitch basis.
●The magnet operating noise is virtually silent, even at the
time of changing over the sewing direction between normal
and reverse feed directions. This contributes to the
achievement of a comfortable working environment with little
noise.
●The feed mechanism is controlled with a stepping motor to enable
continuous sewing at a high speed. The machine achieves the
world's highest sewing speed of 4,000rpm even when performing
pattern sewing, including T-shape stitching and condensation
stitching, dramatically increasing productivity. In addition, the
machine retains stitching shapes with consistency (the maximum
sewing speed differs depending on the sewing condition).

A market-proven titanium-finished hook and rotary thread
take-up lever have been adopted. This allows the machine to
produce high-quality and consistent seams when an extra low
tension is applied to the thread. The combination of the hook
and the thread take-up lever prevents stitch skipping and
thread breakage under the high-speed sewing and provides
responsiveness to thread changing. A broad range of thread
types such as synthetic thread, spun thread and cotton thread
can be used.

LZ-2280N
The shape of the machine frame is designed to reduce
vibration and noise during sewing. By applying three
safeguards in the machine's design, oil leakage is
completely eliminated. The shape of the machine arm is
designed to prevent oil from gathering, the direct oil-
circulation method is adopted to circulate the oil directly
from the oil sight window to the oil pan, and a high-quality
packing is incorporated. In addition, a bobbin thread winder
is built in at a position that permits easy bobbin winding.
Thanks to the micro-lift mechanism, the rise of the presser foot
can be finely adjusted using a screwdriver. This will prove
effective when you need to perform sewing operations with
the presser foot kept in a slightly raised position such as
when reinforcing the material or attaching tapes.
A special dial with a built-in lever for adjusting zigzag width is
adopted for easier handling The machine is also provided with a lever
for changing the needle-throwing position that makes it convenient to
set the sewing position from the material edge. This enables the
operator to minutely adjust the needle-throwing position without re-
adjusting the positions of other components such as the guides and
binders. In addition, the machine is provided with a denser stitching
mechanism for fastening stitches.
The feed mechanism has been improved by widening the
adjustable range of the height and inclination of the feed
dog. Inclination of the feed dog can be widely adjusted to a
this-side-raised position, level position, or this-side-lowered
position. This facilitates sewing of overlapped sections of
material that have to be securely held between the presser
foot and the feed dog during sewing.

The machine is equipped with a hook-driving shaft-offset mechanism
which places the hook-rotating shaft off-center from the center of
zigzag stroke of the needle. This mechanism allows the blade point of
the hook to catch the needle thread every time regardless of the needle
throwing direction. As a result, the machine is immune to sewing
troubles such as stitch skipping and thread breakage, annoyances likely
to occur with the conventional machine, especially when the needle
throws to the right.
The inner hook is finished with titanium to keep it from
becoming hot. The machine requires only a very small
quantity of oil. This prevents oil stains on the material and
the improves durability of the hook. In addition, the hook
configuration is carefully designed to avoid needle
breakage.
The standard zigzag stitching machine creates softly finished
seams. The needle rocking mechanism is provided with a
triangular cam which helps produce beautiful seams with
consistency.

The machine incorporates a built-in lower knife that trims only the lower
material. This allows the machine to simultaneously attach lace to the
body of the foundation and trim only the body during processes to attach
lace to the bottoms or tops of slips or to the joint seam lines of shorts.
The knife is driven by a motor that runs independently from the sewing
machine motor. With this feature, the knife can continue to run at a
high speeds during trimming even when the speed of the machine is
reduced during startup or when sewing curved sections. Furthermore,
the knife is placed just beside the needle to provide a constant trimming
width even on the curved sections.
Since the knife stops at the upper position of its stroke at all times, the
material can be smoothly placed on the machine. The knife height can
easily be changed by operating the lever mounted on the front face of the
machine in accordance with the type of material to be used. If the knife
height is set at 0 (zero), the working surface of the machine will become
flat. In this case, the knife-driving mechanism will be automatically turned
off, permitting machine use for typical standard zigzag stitching operation.

The thread trimming mechanism which is
equipped with a knife slide mechanism.
This means that the thread trimmer cuts the
thread regardless of the needle entry both
when the needle throws to the right and left.
The thread trimmer is driven by the
recognized “solenoid and cam system” that is
used for JUKI lockstitch machines. This
means that the thread trimmer is highly
reliable. Since the knife unit is installed on
the slide plate, it can be removed/installed
with ease. So, easy maintenance is ensured.
The machine comes with a needle thread
feeding device which feeds the needle thread
only by the required amount at the start of
sewing. Thanks to the device, not only stitch
skipping and slip-off of the needle thread are
prevented, but also the length of thread
remaining at the needle eyelet after thread
trimming can be shortened.
The bobbin thread is retained with a low
tension after thread trimming, which enables
the bobbin thread to smoothly come out of
the hook. As a result, tensing-up of thread
and stitch gathering are prevented.

With its newly developed feed mechanism, the machine prevents
“uneven feed of the upper and lower cloths” when sewing girdles and
body suits made of slippery, elastic materials.
Drop-feed sewing machines are widely said to feed in the lower cloth
more quickly than the upper cloth. However, this machine prevents
uneven feed of the upper and lower cloths in spite of its a drop-feed
mechanism. In appearance, the gauge parts are identical to those of a
conventional zigzag stitching machine, and operability is in no way
affected by the newly developed feed mechanism.
The machine only requires simple adjustments when changing the
material* to power net and tricot, never failing to produce beautiful
