GOSFORD SATLTNG CLUB BBQ
The BBQ has been supplied for the benefit of members and Club Sections. The BBQ may be used by
external bodies on approval by the Board. ln order to protect the Club asset, this facility is to be
used in conjunction with the attached rules and manual.
Rule 1. The BBQ is to be signed out for use by the person using the asset.
Rule 2. By signing for the asset, that person acknowledges the safety notices, use of equipment and
care and maintenance of the BBQ in accordance with the attached manual.
Rule 3. Any third party user is to be briefed fully on the rules and manual by the person signing for
the asset.
Rule 4. The BBQ is to be returned in a functional, hygienic and clean state, in accordance with
cleaning and maintenance procedures contained in the manual.
Rule 5. The BBQ is to be signed in after use.
The register is located in the Administration Office during Business hours or the Bar at other times.
Copies of the notice are attached to the registers and on the Club website. There is provision for
noting damage occurred or maintenance required.

" The barbeque must have a rninimunr side clearance fronr any combustible material of at least
250mrn. Additionaliy there must be a clearance of at leasi 1500mm above the cooking sur-face of
the barbeque.
' Flammable materials and liquids must be stored well away from the barbeque.
. Aerosols musi not be used near the banbeque.
. The barbeque should noi be moved when iit or hot.
. A lit barbeque should be attended ai all times.
. Gas cyiinders MUST b= only siored and used vertically.
" Never attempt to ignite the barbeque with the main hood or side burner lid closed.
. Avoid dousing the barbeque with water.
. Turn off the gas cyiinder whcn the barbeque is not in use.

" For safety reasons it is advisable to keep a fi;'e extinguisher and fire biankei close io hand.

2. GAS TYPE AND REGUI.ATGR:
' This barbeque is designed to run from a ULPG gas eylinder only.
. To ensure maximum performanee a gas cylindei of 3kg and rainimum of 4.5kg is recommended.
. The regulaior as supplied should be firrnly tightened but care must be iaken not ta overtighien the
connections.
. The reguiaior as suppiied is ihe correct regulator for ihis barbeque.
. Do not aitempi to connect gas to a barbeqi.,ie that is nct properly secured on ihe gas eylinder hook.
3. IT YGU SMELL GI\S:
lmrnediately isolaie ihe gas supply by turning the gas off at the cylinder-
Extinguish ail naked flames.
Do not operate any electrieal devices close to the barbeque.
Check for leaks as described in section 4: Precautionary Leak Test.
Ensure that local area is weli ventilaied to remove any excess gas.
lf ihe gas smeli continues the barbeque should not be operated under any circumsiances and it is
important io make immediate contact wiih your siore of purchase or after sales suppcrt centre.

4, PRECAUTIONS:
Connections can be checked for leaks by using a soapy water solution as described in section 4:
Precautionary Leak Test.
Naked flames (matches or other open flarnes) must not be used to check for leaks, this is a
Flammable liquids of any descripiion, including petrol, lighter fluid, o!ls, etc must not be stored
close to the barbeque.
Spare or extra gas cylinders must NOT be stored within
other gas or eleciric aPPliance.
Spare or extra gas cylinders should not be stored where
sunlight, as this is a potentially dangerous practice.
The position of the assembled barbeque should be such that the gas
direct sunlight as this is a potentially dangerous situation.

i. POSITiONING
" Please make sure that the barbeque is NOT positioned underneath any combusiible material or
surface.
. There MUST be a clearance of ai leasi 250mm from the sides of the barbeque to any combustible
materials or surfaces. There must also be a clearance of at least 150Cmm above the cooking sufaces
to any combustible surface, and 250mm clearance at the back.
. Flammable materials of any description MUST be kept well away from the barbeque.
' The barbeque must be posiiioned such that the gas cylinder is kept away from direci sunlight.
. The barbeque must be positioned to avoid walkways, gangways and generai pedestrian access.
. The nature of a barbeque is such that many of the surfaces are hot to touch, the positioning of ihe
barbeque should take intc consideration the possibility of accidental hand or body contact.
Any enclosure in which the appliance !s used shal! cornply wlth one of tlre following:
An enclosure with walis on all sides, but at least one permanent opening at ground levei and no
overhead cover.

. Gas hoses nlust NOT be iwisted kinked or under any form of tension, ihe gas hoses should hang
freely with no bends, fclds, oi- kinks.
" No part of the flexible hose should come into coniaci with any part of the barbeque that wili
become hot during oPeration.
. A regular inspection of the hcse shoui,l be made tc ensure that it is no craeking, breaking cutting
or deteriorating in anY other waY.
. Any damage to tne hose requires an immediate replacement from your local agent or gas expert'
3. GAS CYL!NDER CONNECTION
" Check that all the control knobs are in ihe 'OFF' position before any attempt is made to connect ihe regulator
to the gas cYlinder.
. Double check that the gas cylinder valve is securely in the 'OFF' position before attempiing to
connect ihe regulator to the gas cylinder'
" Attach the con"nection of the regutator ta the gas cylinder. lt is important ie ncte thai this connection
is a ,i-EFT I{AND TI{READ'. A Ieft hand thread is tightened in an 'A}{Tl-f LCICKWISE DIR=CTION''

4. PR=EAUTIGruARY LEAK TEST
Confirm all control knobs are in the 'OFF' position.
Open the gas control valve on the cylinder or regulator.
To check fir gas leaks a solution of soapy rsaier is required (50% water and 50% soap)
The gas oiping system M.UST be checked for leaks by brushing the soapy water solution across
eachloint incluOing valve connections, hose connections, wok connections and regulator
conneciions
lf bubbles ap?ear across any joint or conneciion there is a leak:

. Check and retighten all gas cannections and joints.

I. WARNINGS:
' Befcre using the barbeque please efisure you have read and undersiood the entire insii"uction
manua!.
2. PRIGR ?S CCIGKII$G:
' lt is advisable to wash the cooking surface with soapy water, then apply a lighi coatlng of cooking I
oil before starting to ccok.
" When you are iighting your barbeque for the first time, first read siep 3 "STARTIhIG THE
BARBEQUE". Turn the burners to the "LO" pcsition and ieave then running for 15 minutes. Your
barbeque is now seasoned and ready for firsi use.
. Check that the grease cup is empty before every barbeque. Never handle the grease cup uniil it
has compleieiy cooled.
Note: During manufacturing the cooking surface was covered with a non-toxic and food safe
eoating. This coating will come ofrf overtime. lts purpose is purely to protect your banbeque
during transport and against damage.
3, STARTING THE BARBEQUE:
. Ensure that all the controls are in the "OFF" position before attempting to light the barbeque.
. Remove the lid before lighting.
. Turn on the gas supply at the gas cylinder.
. Select burner io light. Push anC turn the selected control knob to "l{1" (automation igniiion).
. if ignition does noi occur wiihin 5 seconds, turn burner controi knob ia "GFF". Wait 5 minutes and
repeai the lighting prccedure.
4 MAf{UAL LIG,HTING:
. Lighi a 90mm barbeque match or a iighting gun and hoid adjacent to the burner underneath the
right end of the barbeque.
. Ensure the match remains lit then turn the right hand control kncb tc the "Hl" pcsition, the burner
wiit light from ihe match.
" Once the burner is lit, repeat the process fcr the remaining burners.
. Each burner can be adjusted to a lovr heat setting by turning the conlrol knob to the "LO" posiiion.
4..ATTER COSKING
' Ensure ALL conirol knobs are turned "OFF" by turning ihem fuily clockwise.
" Once ihe burners have extinEuished iurn the gas off ai the gas cylinder.
' Tne harbeque should then be stored in accordance with the storage guidelines in this manual
. See cleaning instructions on the following page.

Piease note the following when malntaining and caring for your barbeque:

1. CLEANING THE HOT.PIATE
After you have finished cooking ii is best to clean the cooking surface while it is siiil warm. scrape off all
excess food using a stiff plastiJ spaiula or paper towel secured with tongs so that you don't burn yourself'
DO NOT r." **tul scraping toois on this hot piate as yor-i will scraich the surface and leave ihe metal prone
to rusting. There is litfle poini in cleaning your cooking surfaces until they sparkle because they'll be black
again after your next baibeque. Just remove the excess lurnps of food, and ensure a film of oil renrains on the
plate io protect the cooking surfaces against rusi. Ycu should also spray a lighi film of cooking cil on ihe plate for
additional Protection.
2. CAR= OF THE BURNERS
" Normal use and the burn off should ensure thai any exccss fcod and juices are burni off and this
wili help to keep the burners clean.
, The burners should be checked and cleaned yearly. li is impcriant tc check that the burner holes
are free of debris and insects.
. Blockages and debris should be carefully removed using a pipe eleaner'
. Ensure that when the burners are replaced they are positioned correctly cvei'the control rralves,
care must be taken not to damage the valves'
3. CARE OF THE BARBEQ!.'E BODY
. Regular care and maintenance of the barbeque body will significantly increase its life and long
term apPearance.
. Excess grease and fat can be removed with a soft scraper'
. lt is not necessary to remove all the grease from the body'
. lf required painted surfaces of the barbeque body can be cleaned by using hot soapy water and a soft bristled
brush and cloth.
. Care must be taken not to immerse the gas controls (manifold and injeciors) in v'rater
. When re-assembling the barbeque after cleaning it is important to check that the barbeque funciions correctly'
4. MAINTENANCE OF FIXINGS
. Over time and with regular use the fixing screws and nuts may start to become loose, a regular check of all
fixings is recommended. !
5. STSRAGE
, To ensure maximum life from your barbeque it should always be siored in a cool dry place'
. During long periods of stcrage the burners should be covered with alun':inium foil to prevent debris and
insects from blocking the burner holes'
. lf you choose to stoL the main barbeque inside the gas cylinder musi be disconnected and stored outside
under the following condiiions:
o Always store the gas cylinder outside in a raveil ventilatecj area
o Ensure that the gis cylinder is not siored in direct sunlight or close to heat sources and other
dangerous aPPliances.
o Keep the gas cylinder out of reach of chiidren'
