ThankyouforchoosingaJUWELAquariumproduct.
Ourproductsrepresentover40yearsexperienceinthemanufacturingofaquariums
andtheiraccessoriesapplyingthemostmodernproductiontechniquesinbringing
togethertheJUWELAquariumsystem,whichisbotheasytouseandsimpleto
maintain.
Safetyinstructions:
Thisappliancecanbeusedbychildrenagedfrom8yearsandaboveandpersons
withreducedphysical,sensoryormentalcapabilitiesorlackofexperienceand
knowledgeiftheyhavebeengivensupervisionorinstructionconcerninguseof
theapplianceinasafewayandunderstandthehazardsinvolved.Childrenshall
notplaywiththeappliance.Cleaningandusermaintenanceshallnotbemadeby
childrenwithoutsupervision.
Alwaysunplugallimmersedelectricalequipmentfrommainsbeforeplacingyour
handsintothewater.
OperationwiththeRCcircuitbreakeronly,max.30mA.
Thepowerplugsoftheelectricaldevicesmustnotbecomemoist.Connectthe
powerplugstothepowersupplyatsuchaheightthattheconnectioncable

JUWELSeaSkim
TheJUWELSeaSkimcombinestheproductbenefitsofaninternalskimmer
characterisedbythefactthatnowaterexitstheaquariumwithacompactshapeand
highskimmingcapacity.
Withoutputof1500l/h,theintegratedpumpairintakeof150l/handconsequently
ensureseffectiveproteinskimmingforseawateraquariumswithavolumeof100-500
litres.However,theJUWELSeaSkimdoesnotserveasfiltersystemreplacementinthe
seawateraquarium.
Theskimmingutilisesthefactthatmanyso-calledsurface-activesubstances
accumulateattheboundarybetweenwaterandair,especiallyinsaltwater.This
includesproteinsandtheirfirststagesofdecomposition(thesecontaintheundesired
elementsnitrogenandphosphorus),butalsosmallestdirtparticles(solids)etc.
InstallationinJUWELaquariums
TheJUWELSeaSkimisintendedforinstallationintheJUWELRio,Lido,Visionand
Trigonaquariums.TheseJuwelaquariumsarecharacterisedbythefactthatanopening
fortheSeaSkimisalreadyavailableandclosedbymeansofacap.Removethecap
closingthecover.
Recommendation:FlapsetforJUWELSeaSkim
IfthecoverofyourJUWELaquariumdoesnotincludeaspecialopeningfor
SeaSkim,werecommendthatyoucontactyourspecialistretailer.
ThematchingflapsetforSeaSkimcanbepurchasedthereasanoriginalJUWEL
sparepart.
InstallationofthemountfortheJUWELSeaSkim
TheSeaSkimispermanentlyinstalledbymeansofthemountincludedinthedelivery.
Thisensuresthecorrectpositionintheaquariumandconsequentlyoptimumskimming
results.Theaquariumshouldbeemptiedtosuchanextentthatyoumaywipethe
panesdry.
Youachievethecorrectpositionbyusingtheenclosedtemplateforpositioningthe
mount.
1.Initiallyfoldthetemplateatthedesignatedlinesandalignitinthemanner
detailedbelow.
2.AquariummodelRIO,LIDO,VISION:
Hangthetemplatefromtheinsideovertheedgeoftheframeoftheleftsidepaneand
alignitattherearleftcorner(ref.figureA).
2.AquariummodelTRIGON:
Hangthetemplatewithadistanceof25cmtotherearouteredgeoftheframefrom
theinsideovertheedgeoftheframeoftheleftsidepane(ref.figureB).
3.Securethetemplatebymeansofanadhesivestripinordertoavoidshifting.
4.ApplyasufficientquantityoftheenclosedJUWELConexoglue(itemNo.88355)to
theoutsideofthemountafterattachingthetemplate.
5.Affixthemountthroughthedesignatedopeningofthetemplatefromtheinsideto
theaquariumpaneandletitdryforatleast48hours.
6.Removethetemplateafterthedryingtime.
7.Checkthatthemountissecurelyseatedandremoveanyglueresiduesthatmay
haveescaped.

-Removethehousinglidaswellasthefoamcollectorandretrievetheseparationwall
fromthehousing.
-Assemblethepumpandattachtheventurinozzletotheadapter.
-Slidethepumpintothedesignatedretaineroftheseparationwall(1)androutethe
powercablethroughthelowercableguideoftheseparationwall.
-Attachtheaircontrollertotheendofthehose(2).
-Connecttheairhosetotheventurinozzle(3)androuteitthroughtheupperhose
guideintheseparationwall.
-Routetheairpressurecontrollerthroughthemountingsoftheseparationwall.
-Afteryouhaveattachedtheairpressurecontrollertothepump,connectittothe
topendbyturningtotheright(4).
-Inserttheseparationwallintothehousing(5)andinstallthedistancepiecesonthe
housing(6).
-Installthefoamcollectorandthehousinglid(7).Checkthecorrectpositioningof
thesealingringonthefoamcollector.Routetheairhosethroughthemountingofthe
housinglid.
-AttachtheoutletnozzletothehousingoftheSeaSkim(8).

1.PlacetheSeaSkimwiththeroundopeningonthepermanentlygluedmount.
2.InstallthelightingcoverwiththeopeningabovetheSeaSkim.
3.Routethetubeofthefoamchamberunitthroughtheopeningofthelightingcover
tothefoamcollector.
4.Closethefoamcollectorbymeansofthecap.
5.Aligntheoutletinaccordancewiththeenvironmentalsituationinyouraquarium.
IfyouwishtoclosethespacebetweentheSeaSkimandtheaquariumglass,applya
siliconeseam,asshown.Thiswayyoupreventfishfrombeingabletoswimintothe
gap.

OperationSeaSkim
ConnectthepowercableinsuchamannerthatyourSeaSkim(proteinskimmer)is
readyforuse.
First,opentheairflowcontrollerattheendoftheairhose.Now,turntheairpressure
controlleruntilthefoamriseshalfwayupthefoamcollector.Thenormalfoam
productionwillonlybereachedafterarun-inperiodthatmaytakefromafewhours
upto3days.
Thefoamisratherlightandwateryduringtherun-inperiodofthesaltwateraquarium.
Thefoamproductiondependsonthecontaminationoftheaquariumwater.We
recommendtoopentheaircontrollercompletelyandtoadjustthefoamproduction
withtheairpressurecontroller,inordertoutilisetheentirecapacityoftheSeaSkim.
MaintenanceJUWELSeaSkim
Weekly:
Checkthefoamproductionandreadjusttheaircontrollerandairpressurecontrollerif
necessary.
Removethefoamcollector,emptyandcleanitwithclearwateronlyandpossiblya
brush.
Donottouchtheinsideofthefoamcollectorwithyourfingers,asthissubstantially
reducesthefoamproduction.
Alwaysensurethattheairholeofthefoamchamberunitisfreeofdirt(ref.fig.).
Checkthewaterintakeinthehousingoftheskimmerfordirtandcleanthemif
applicable.
Donotdeactivatethepumpduringcleaning!
Reinsertthefoamcollectoraftercleaning.Aftercleaning,normalfoamproductionis
achievedagainafterafewhours.
Keep clean!
MaintenanceJUWELSeaSkim
Quarterly:
DeactivatetheSeaSkimpumpandliftoffthefoamcollectorunit.Removethecapand
thehousingandretrievetheseparationwallwiththeSeaSkimpump.
Removetheairpressurecontrollerbyturningittotheleftanddisconnecttheairhose
fromtheventurinozzle.Now,youcanremovethepumpandtheventurinozzlefrom
theseparationwall.
Cleanallcomponentsandcheckthemfordamage.Openandcheckallpartsfordirtor
damage.(Alsoread"MaintenanceoftheSeaSkimPump")
Removesaltdepositsintheairhosebymeansofwarmwateratregularintervalsin
ordertoensurethefunctionality.
Reassemblethecomponentsinreverseorder.
Nowreconnectthepumptothepowergrid.

SeaSkimMaintenanceoftheJUWELEccoflowPump
TheJUWELEccoflowSeaSkimpumpshouldbecheckedandcleanedatregularintervals
(atleastonceamonth).
Pleaseproceedasfollows:
1.Disconnectallelectricaldevicesthatareoperatedinsidethewater.
2.TonowremovethepumpfromtheSeaSkim,proceedasdescribedinthe
"MaintenanceJUWELSeaSkimQuarterly"section.
3.Removetheventurinozzle(C)fromthepumpanddisconnecttheconnectionring
(B)fromthemotorbyturningitanti-clockwise.
4.Removetheimpeller(A)andtheaxlewiththeirrubberbearingsfromthemotor.
5.Thoroughlycleanallcomponents.
Itisnecessarytoremovetheimpellerfromthechamberandremovedepositsanddirt
fromthechamberitselfaswellastheimpeller.Usethecleaningbrushincludedwith
thepumpforthispurpose.Otherwisethefunctionalityofthepumpwillbeimpaired.
Alsochecktheimpellerfordamageandpossiblesignsofwearofthemagnet.
6.Afterthat,andbeforeyoureconnectthedevicesthatareoperatedinsidethewater
tothepowersupply,pleasereinstalltheSeaSkimpumpinreverseorderandreinsertit
intheSeaSkim.

Properdisposal(electricalwaste)
Thelabellingontheproductorontheaccompanyingliteraturedeclaresthatit
mustnotbedisposedof,attheendofitsservicelife,togetherwithhousehold
rubbish.Pleasedisposeofthisequipmentseparatelyfromotherwaste,toprotect
theenvironmentorpublichealthfromdamagebyunregulatedwastedisposal.
Recycletheequipmentandsupportthesustainedrecyclingofmaterialresources.
Privateusersshouldcontactthedealerwhosoldthemtheproductorthe
responsibleauthorities,forademonstrationonhowtorecycletheequipmentin
anenvironmentallyfriendlyway.
Guarantee
WeguaranteetheperformanceoftheJUWEL-Aquariumproductoritsaccessoriestothe
purchaserforaperiodof24monthsfromthedateofpurchaseaccordingtothe
followingconditions:
§1Extentoftheguarantee
(1)ThisguaranteeextendstotheJUWEL-Aquariumproductanditscomponents
excludingitemssubjecttowearandtearsuchaslighttubesandfiltermedia.Itis
limitedtotheproductassuchanddoesnotcoverdamagetootherpropertyand/or
individuals.Inaddition,theprovisionsoftheproductliabilitylawapply.These
provisionsarenotlimitedbytheaforementionedarrangement.
(2)ItistheprerogativeofJUWEL-Aquariumtodecidewhethertheguaranteeis
performedbymeansofrepairorreplacement.Ifneitherrepairnorreplacementcan
ensuretheperformanceoftheJUWEL-Aquariumproductthepurchaserisentitledto
demandareductioninpriceortoreturntheproductagainstrepaymentofthe
purchaseprice.
§2Guaranteeperiodandsettlementprocedure
(1)Theguaranteeperiodbeginsonthedayofthepurchaseoftheproductfromthe
retailer.Claimsunderthisguaranteewillnotbehonoured,if
(a)thedamageiscausedasaresultofimproperuseormaintenanceornon-
observanceoftheinstructionsgiveninthismanual
(b)theproductoritscomponentshavebeenmaintainedbypersonsorcompaniesnot
authorisedbythemanufacturertodoso
(c)theproductoritscomponentshavebeendamagedbymechanicalmeansof
whatsoeverkind,inparticularbrokenglass
(2)Allclaimsunderthisguaranteehavetobenotifiedtotheretailer,fromwhomthe
aquariumhasbeenpurchasedwithoutdelay,however,notlongerthan2weeksfrom
thedayoffirstoccurrenceofdefects.Rightsundertheconsumerprotectionlawswill
remainunaffected.
(3)Guaranteeclaimswillonlybeacceptedifthevalidityoftheclaimissupportedby
evidenceofpurchaseoftheJUWEL-Aquariumproduct.
