MaintenanceoftheFilterSystem
TheJUWELFilterSystemrequiresverylittlemaintenanceifyoufollowthefollowing
instructions.
-Replacethewhitefilterwoolpadonceaweek.Ifyouhavelargefish,thenthismay
requirechangingslightlymorefrequently.Thiswillensurethatthefilterspongeswill
notbecloggedbylargerdirtparticles.
-Replacetheblackactivatedcarbonspongeevery4-6weeks.Again,ifyouhavelarge
fishthenthismaybetobemorefrequent.Thisensuresthatanychemicalimpurities
fromthewaterwillberemoved.Pleasenotethatthechemicalswhichareabsorbedby
theactivatedcarboncontainedinthesponge,willbereleasedtothewateragainif
thechangeintervalsaretoolong.
-Ifthefilterwoolandtheactivatedcarbonspongearereplacedassuggested,thenit
issufficienttocarefullycleanorreplacethecoarsebluespongesat6-12weeksand
thefinebluespongesat3-6monthsonly.
Important-Cleaningorreplacingthebluefilterspongeswillaffectthebacteria
cultures.Werecommendtherefore,thatonlyoneofthespongesatatimeiscleanedor
replaced,neveratthesametime.
Youdonotneedtoworryabouttheliquiddirtaccumulatingatthebottomofthe
filterhousing.Normally,thisdirtcontainsimportantbiologicalsubstanceswhich
enhancethewaterquality.
Pleasedonotworryifsomedirtgetsintothewaterduringthecleaningprocess
causingcloudiness.Afterthefiltersystemisbackinoperation,thewaterwillsoon
clearagain.
-Inordertoallowaproperlevelofmicro-organismsinthefiltrationsystemitis
recommendedtoexchangethespongeevery6weeks.Thenitrateremovalsponge
containsbacteria,whichwillafterawhilereducethenitratelevelintheaquarium
significantly.

performanceofyoursystem.

TheJUWELAquariumPowerheadrequiresverylittlemaintenancebutwerecommend
thatyoucheckitregularlytoensureoptimumperformance.
Inordertomaintainthepowerhead,pleasefollowthefollowingsteps:
1.Disconnecttheheaterandthepowerheadfromthepowersupplyandallowthe
heatertocoolforapprox.30minutes.
2.Removetheheaterandplaceitonanon-flammable,safesurface.
3.Removethenozzlesfromthepowerhead.
4.Removepowerheadandadapterfromthefiltersystem.
5.Turntheadaptertotherighttofreeitfromthepowerhead.Checkthattherubber
sealsdonotshowanysignofwearandtear.Incaseofdoubtwerecommendto
replacetheadaptertoensurecontinuingoptimumperformance.
6.Removethepowerheadadapterfromthemotorandremovetheimpeller.
7.Cleanandcheckallparts,inparticulartheimpellerforwearandtearespeciallythe
magnet.
Thereafterpleasereassemblethepowerheadandrepositionitbackintothefilter.
Recommendation:
Withexchangeoftheimpellers400,600and1000theflowratecanbevaried.
Inordertoensurethatthepowerheadoperatesatitsoptimumandmaintainsits
lownoiselevel,werecommendtocheckandpotentiallyreplacethepartssubject
towearandtear,suchastheimpellerandtheadapter.

Safetyinstructions:
Neveroperatethepowerheadoutofwater.
Alwaysunplugthepowerheadfromthepowersupplybeforeremovingitfromthe
filter.
Thepowerheadisintendedforindooruseandforuseinfluidsupto35°C.
Neverrepairtheelectricalcordorplug.Incaseofdamagereplacethecomplete
powerhead.
