SafetyPrecautions
1.
The design
of this productcontainsspecialhardwareand manycircuitsand components
specially
for safety
purposes.
For
continued
protection,
no changesshouldbe madeto the
originaldesign
unlessauthorizedin writing by the manufacturer.
Replacement
parts
must
be identical
to those used in the original circuits. Servicesshould be performedby
qualifiedpersorlnel
only.
2.Alterations
of the designor circuitry
of the productshouldnot be made. Any design
alterations
of the product
should
not be made. Any designalterations
or additionswill
voidthe manufacturer's
warranty
and will further relievethe manufacture
of responsibility
for perconal
injury
or property
damageresultingtherefrom.
3.Many electrical and mechanical
parts in the products have special safety-related
characteristics.These
characteristics
are often not evident from visual inspectionnor can
the protection
afforded by them necessarily
be obtainedby usingreplacement
components
ratedfor higher voltage,wattage, etc. Replacement
partswhich havethesespecialsafety
characteristics
are identifiedin the PartsList of ServiceManual. Electrical
components
having
such
features
are identified
by shadingon the schematics
and by (A) on the Parts
Listin the ServiceManual. Theuse
of a substituterepalcement
whichdoesnot havethe
same
safetycharacteristics
asthe recommended
replacement
parts
shownin the Parts

4.
The leadsin the products
are routedand dressedwith ties,
clamps,tubings,
barriercand
the like
to be separatedfrom liveparts,
hightemperature
parts,
moving
parts
and/orsharp
edgesfor the prevention
of electricshock
and fire hazard. Whenserviceis required,
the
originalleadroutingand dressshould
be observed, and it shouldbe confirmedthat they
have
beenreturnedto normal,after re-assembling.
5.Leakage
currnet
check
(Electrical
shockhazardtesting)
After re-assembling
the product,
always
performan isolation
check
on the exposedmetal
parts
of the product
(antenna
terminals,
knobs,metal
cabinet,screwheads,
headphone
jack,
contorl shafts, etc.)to be surethe product is safeto operatewithout danger of electrical
shock.
Do not use
a lineisolation
transformer
duringthischeck.
o Plugthe AC line cord directlyinto the AC outlet. Usinga "Leakage
CurrentTester",
measure
the leakage
currentfrom each
exposedmetalparts
of the cabinet,
particularly
any exposedmetal part having a return path to the chassis,to a known good earth
ground. Any leakage
currentmust
not exceed0.5mAAC(r.m.s.).
o Alternatecheckmethod
Plug
the AC line cord directlyinto the AC outlet. Usean AC voltmeterhaving,
I,OOO
ohmsper volt or more sensitivityin the following manner. Connect
a 1,500Q
10 W
resistor
paralleled
by a 0.15
pFAC-type
capacitor
between
an exposedmetalpart and a
known
goodearth
ground.
Measurethe AC voltage acrossthe resistor
with the ACvoltmeter.
Movethe resistor
connection
to eachexposed
metal
part,particularly
anyexposedmetalpart
having a return path to the chassis, and
meausre
the AC voltage acrossthe resistor.
Now, reverse
the plug in the AC outlet and
repeat each measurement. Any voltage
measured
must not exceed
0.75VAC (r.m.s.).
This
corresponds
to 0.5mAAC(r.m.s.).
AC VOLTMETER
(Having
1000
ohms/volts,
or more sensitivity.)

probe on
each exposed
metal part.

ADJUSTMENTPROCEDURES
I ldlingCurrent
(1) Set the volume control to minimum during this adjustment.
(2) T\En R?51 anil R?52 fully counterclockwisebefore the power ie switch on.
(3) Always start fmm cold, and allow 5 minutes to warm up beforeadjustment.
If the hegtsink is already warm fiom previous use the conect adjustuent can not be made.
(4) Connecta DC voltmeter to R771 resietor's leads for left channel, or ta F"772for right channel.
(5) Adjust R751for Ieft channel, or R752 for right channel, so that the DC voltneter becomes
4.5
mV - 15mV.
