CAUTIONS AND NOTES
This unit is designed to operate on 12 V DC, NEGATIVE ground electrical systems.
JVC recommends consulting a qualified technician for installation.
• ThisunitusesBTL(BalancedTransformerless)ampliercircuitry,i.e.,oatinggroundsystem,so
complywiththefollowing:
– Do not connect the “·”terminals of the speakers to each other.
– Do not connect the “·”terminalsofthespeakerstothemetalbodyorchassis.
• Covertheunusedleadswithinsulatingtapetopreventthemfromshortcircuiting.
• Whenanextensionleadisused,itshouldbeasthickandshortaspossible;connectitrmlywith
insulating tape.
• Besuretoleaveanappropriatespacebetweentheantenna(aerial)andthewiresofthisunit.
• Ifthefuseblows,rstmakesurethewiresaren’ttouchingtocauseashortcircuitthenreplacetheold
fusewithonewiththesamerating.
• Donotletpebbles,sandormetallicobjectsgetinsidetheunit.
• Tokeeptheheatdissipationmechanismrunningeectively,wipetheaccumulateddusto
periodically.
• Listeningtothetape,radio,CDordigitalaudioplayer,etc.withthevolumesetatahighlevelfor
alongperiodoftimewillexhaustthebattery,whiletheengineisturnedoorwhiletheengineis
idling.
• Thisunitbecomesveryhot.Becarefulnottotouchtheunitnotonlywhenusingbutafterusing.
• DONOTdisassembletheunitsincetherearenouserserviceablepartsinside.
INSTALLATION OF THE UNIT
Thefollowingillustrationshowsatypicalinstallation.However,youshouldmakeadjustments
corresponding to your specific car.
Location of the unit
Under the front seat
Onto the trunk floor
•Mountthisunitonafirmsurface,suchasinthe
trunk or under the front seat.
•Sinceheatisgeneratedintheunit,donotmount
itnearinflammableobjects.Inaddition,mount
itinanareathatwillnotpreventtheunitfrom
dissipating the heat.
•Donotmounttheunitintheplacessubjectto
heat:neararadiator,inaglovecompartmentor
ininsulatedareassuchasunderacarmatthatwill
prevent the unit from dissipating heat.
•Whenmountingtheunitunderthefrontseat,make
surethatadjustingtheseatpositionwillnotcatch
anywireoftheunit.

TERMINAL CONNECTIONS

illustrated.
• Useringterminals(notprovided)forsecureconnection.

• Makesurethescrewisfixedinplacetopreventdisconnections.
• Avoidover-tighteningasitmaycausethedamagetothescreworitshead
slot.
SPEAKER SYSTEMS
Notes
• Besurenottoconnectthe“·” terminals of the speakers to a common point.
• Ifthesameleadisusedforbothleft/rightorfront/rearspeakerwirings,thisunitcannotbeused.
Alwaysusetheindependentleadsforeachspeaker.Inthiscase,redothewirings.
• Usethespeakerswithanimpedanceof2Ωto8Ω(4Ωto8Ω:whenusedinBridgeMode).
• Usethespeakerswhichhavesufficientcapacitytotheunit.

TROUBLESHOOTING
For more details, consult your JVC car audio dealer.
The POWER lamp does not light.
•Changethefusesifthecurrentoneisblown.
•Connectthegroundleadsecurelytoametalpartofthecar.
•Turnontheequipmentconnectedtothisunit.
•Usearelayifyoursystememploystoomanyamplifiers.
•Confirmthebatteryvoltage(11Vto16V).
The PROTECT lamp lights in red and/or the unit heats up abnormally.
•Usethespeakersofsuitableimpedance.
•Correctthespeakerwiringsiftheyareshort-circuited.
•MakethespeakerwiringsawayfromthepowercordtopreventDCoffseterror.
•Leavetheunitturnedoffforawhiletocoolitdown.
No sound is heard.
•Confirmtheconnectionsforthepowersupply(see"POWERSUPPLY"onpage1).
•ConnectRCApincordstotheINPUTjacks,orthespeakerinputconnectortotheHIGHINPUTterminal.
Alternator noise is heard.
•KeepthepowercordsawayfromtheRCApincords.
•KeeptheRCApincordsawayfromotherelectricalcablesinthecar.
•Connectthegroundleadsecurelytoametalpartofthecar.
•Makesurethenegativespeakerleadsdonottouchthecarchassis.
•Replacetheplugsoruseplugswithloadresistors.
•Connectabypasscapacitoracrosstheaccessoryswitches(horn,fan,etc.).
•ConnecttheLINENOISEFILTER(commerciallyavailable)betweenLineOutput(throughthereceiver)
andINPUTjacksonthisunit.
Noise is made when you connect the unit to an AM tuner.
•Movethespeakerandpowercordsawayfromtheantennalead.
