Pleasereadthefollowing recommended
safety precautions carefully foryour safety
1. Power Source
The setshould be operated onlyfrom a220-
240VAC, 50 Hz. outlet. Ensureyou selectthe
correct voltage setting for your convenience.
2. Power Cord
Donotplace the set,apiece offurniture,etc.
on the powercord(mains lead) orpinch the
cord.Handle the powercordbythe plug.Do
notpull outthe plug bytugging the cordand
nevertouch the power cord when yourhands
arewetas this could cause ashort circuitor
electric shock.Nevermake aknotin the cord
ortie itwithothercord.The powercordshould
be placed in such awaythattheyarenotlikely
tobe stepped on.
A damaged power cordcan cause fireor give
you an electric shock.When itis damaged
and need tobe changed,itshould be done by
qualified personel.
3. Moisture and Water
Do not use this equipment in ahumid and
damp place (avoid the bathroom,the sink in
the kitchen,and nearthe washing machine).
Donotexpose this equipmenttorain orwater,
as this maybe dangerous and do notplace
objectsfilled withliquids,such as flowervases
ontop oftheset.Avoidfromdrippingorsplash-
ing.
If anysolid objectorliquid falls intothe cabi-
net,unplug the setand have it checked by
qualified personnel beforeoperating itanyfur-
ther
4. Cleaning
Beforecleaning,unplug the setfrom the wall
outlet. Donotuse liquid oraerosol cleaners.
Use soft and dry cloth.
5.Ventilation
The slotsand openings on the back coverare
intended forventilation and toensurereliable
operation.Topreventoverheating,theseopen-
ings mustnotbe blocked orcovered in any-
way.
6.Heat and Flames
The setshould notbe placed neartonaked
flames and sources of intense heat,such as
an electric heater.Ensurethatno naked flame
sources,such as lighted candles,areplaced
on top ofthe set
7.Lightning
Incase ofstormand lightning orwhen going
on holiday,disconnectthe powercordfrom
the wall outlet.
8. Replacement Part
Whenreplacement partsarerequired,besure
theservicetechnicianhas usedreplacement
partswhich arespecifiedbythemanufacturer or
havethesamespecificationsastheoriginalone.
Unauthorisedsubstitutionsmayresultinfire,
electrical shock, or other hazards.
9 . Servicing
Please referall servicing toqualified person-
nel.Donotremovethe coveryourselfas this
mayresultin an electric shock.

MAINS(AC) OPERATION
The wires in this mains lead arecoloured in
accordance withthe following code :
BLUE-NEUTRAL
BROWN-LIVE
As the colours of the wires in the mains lead
ofthis appliance may notcorrespond with
thecoloured markings identifying the
terminals in yourplug,proceed as follows:
Thewirewhichiscolouredbluemust be
connected to the terminal which is marked
withthe letterNorcoloured black.
The wire which is coloured brownmustbe
connected to the terminal which is marked
with the letterL orcoloured red.
No connection is to be made to the earth
terminal ofthe plug.
If a 13 Amp (BS 1363) Plug is used a 5Amp
Fuse mustbe fitted,orifanyothertype of
Plug is used a5Amp Fuse mustbe fitted,
eitherin the Plugof Adaptor,or on the
Distribution Board.

steady,itshould then be secured to the wall with a sturdytie using the hook on the back ofthe
TV,this will preventitfrom falling over.Use curtains orblinds topreventdirectsunlightfalling on
the screen.
A floorand table top stand areavailable forthis television,orand angled bracketwhich enables
the TV tobe wall-mounted.
The LCD displaypanels aremanufactured using an extremelyhigh level ofprecision technol-
ogy,howeversometimes some partsofthe screen maybe missing pictureelementsorhave
luminous spots.This is notasign ofamalfunction.
Make surethe TVis located in aposition whereit cannotbe pushed orhit by objects,as
pressurewill break ordamage the screen.
Distance Recommendation
Install the TV on solid horizontal surface such as atable ordesk.
Forventilation, leave a space ofat least10 cm free all around the set.To preventany faultand
unsafesituations, please do notplace anyobjectson top ofthe set.

CHANNELIDENTIFICATIONLOGOS, COM-
PUTERDISPLAYS, VIDEO GAMES, ON
SCREEN MENUS,etc. are left ontheTV
screen foranylengthoftime,theycould be-
come permanently ingrained.
Ifyouuseyourtelevisiontodisplaycompletely
still images, ormoving pictures which havea
permanent stillimage superimposed e.g.
broadcastnetworklogos,itis alwaysadvis-
able toreduce BOTHthe brightness and con-
trastsettings.

Turnoffthepower,clean the screenandcabi-
netwithasoft, dry cloth.Werecommend that
you do notuse any proprietarypolishes or
solventson the screen orcabinetas this may
cause damage.

GettingStarted
FollowStep 1to 7to set up your TV:
Step 1: Checking the accessories supplied
• Remotecontrol unit x1
•AA/R6batteryx2
• Powercordx1
Step 2: Inserting batteries
• Removethe battery cover located on the back ofthe remotecontrol by gently pulling upwards
from the indicated part.
• Insert twoAA/R6 dry cell orequivalent type of batteries inside.
•Replace the battery cover.
NOTE: Remove the batteries fromremote control when it is not to be used for along
period.Otherwise itcan be damaged due toany leakage ofbattery.
Old batteries mustbe disposed in adesignated area.Ifperformance ofthe remotecontrol
reduces,replace the batteries withthe correcttype.Donotcombine aused,old batteryoranew
one ormixed batterytypes.Remove dead batteries immediately topreventacid fromleaking
intothe battery compartment.
Step 3: Removing the terminal cover
Thereareconnection terminals and acardsocketbehind the coversof the rearofthe TV.
Remove the coverbeforeconnecting an antenna,VCR, DVD and otherdevices.
Removethe coversbyremoving the hooks.When replacing the covers,place the side orbottom
ofthe coversagainstthe TV and insert the hooks.
•Leavethecoversoffiftheydonotfitproperly.DO NOT forcetoreplacethecovers.Doingsomay
cause damages ofthe connection cables and the covers.
•Leave these covers off when mounting the TV on a wall.

• The stand can be removed byloosing the screwswithascrewdriverwhen mounting the TV on
awall.
•Spread asoftclothon aflattable and then place the TV on the cloth withthe screen facing
downwards when you removethe stand.
Step 4: Connecting an aerial VCR and mains
Please read the usermanual ofeach device beforeconnecting,toensureacorrectsetup.
It is necessary toconnectaerial towatch TV.
Please see “Peripheral Equipment Connections” section for connections to other devices.

InitialSettings
When the TV is firstturned on,itgoes intothe
initial settings mode.Followthe instructions
on the screen displayto make the initial set-
tings.
Note: IftheTV doesnotgointotheinitial settingsmodethis
isbecauseyour TVhas already been turnedonforthefirst
time.(Performthe initial settings with “INSTALLATION”
(seepage23) intheDTV menuand“AUTOSTORE”(Ana-
logue)(seepage28)inthe PROGRAM menu.)
Because this is the firsttime that IDTVhas
been used,thereareno channels stored in
the memory and below information will be dis-
played on the screen.
1.Press the [OK] button tostart the auto-
maticsearch.
PRList Empty.Startautomatic search

The IDTV will automaticallytune tothe UHF
transmission channels 21 to 68 looking for
digital terrestrial TV broadcastsand display-
ing the names ofchannels found. This pro-
cess will take aboutfiveminutes. Tocancel
searching,you can press MENU button atany
time during the process.
HINT: Depending on the reception conditions
in yourparticulararea,you mayfind thatthe
list ofchannels found includes one ormore
repeated names.This is because the receiver
maydetectand storesome channels,includ-
ing those itcannotreceiveclearly,from adja-
centareasalongsidethe strong channelsfrom
atransmitternearby.This is not aproblem
and the weakerchannels can be deleted from
the receiverlater,as described in -EditPR
List section.Whenanindoorantennais used,
and ifitrequires 5voltstobe powered, set
antenna power to 5 volts.

When the automaticsearch has finished,
theEDITPRLIST menuappears.
•Ifyou want to,you can noweditthe
programme numbers (PR)using the EDIT
PR LISTfunction.Fordetails,see “EditPR
List” section.
•If you do notwantto editprogramme num-
bers(PR), go tothe next step.
2.PresstheMENU button.
The EDIT PR LISTmenu disappearsand the
following message appears.

castingAUTOPROGRAMwindowis displayed.

pre MENU button to exit the menu.
If you have a T-V LINK compatible VCR con-
nected to the EXT-2 terminal, pre but-
ton to di play T-V LINK menu. Then follow the
operating procedure Downloading data to
VCR in the following T-V LINK ection.

Downloading data to VCR:
The VCR will automatically download the reg-
i tered data on the TV channel from the TV.
Thi mean you do not need to et up the
programme channel on your VCR manually.
The T-V LINK menu will be di played when
you pre the button while PROGRAM
menu i di played.

Direct REC:
You can ea ily record to VCR the image that
you are watching on the TV. For detail , read
the manual for your VCR. U e your VCR con-
trol you can not carry out Direct REC u ing
your TV control.
When the VCR i not ready (For example when
there i no tape in erted), NO RECORDING
i di played.
When you pre the following button ( / I,
, TV / DTV, ZOOM, , , AV, MENU,
SUBTITLE, GUIDE, , BACK, / ,

Do not turn the TV off in the following cases:
When recording image from an external
device connected to TV (For example
camcorder).
When recording a TV channel after it ha

TV output becau e the VCR own tuner
can not properly receive that channel.
When recording Digital terre trial broadca t-
ing (DVB-T).
TV autopower on/VCR image view:
When the VCR tart playing, the TV automati-
cally turn on and image from EXT-1 and
EXT-2 appear on the creen.
Thi function doe not happen if your TV main
power i turned off. Set your TV main power
to on (StandBy Mode).
Basic Operations
You can operate your TV using both the re-
mote control and TV buttons.
Operation with the buttons on the TV
Volume Setting
Pre - button to decrea e volume or
+ button to increa e volume, o a vol-
ume level cale ( lider) will be di played at
the middle of the bottom on the creen.
Programme Selection
Pre button to elect the next pro-
gramme or button to elect the previ-
ou programme.
Switching input mode
Pre ing TV/AV/OK button will change the
input mode.
Entering Main Menu
Pre MENU button to enter Main menu. In
the Main menu elect ubmenu u ing
or button and enter the ub-
menu u ing - / + or TV/AV/OK or
MENU button. To learn the u age of the
menu , refer to the Menu Sy tem ection .
Operation with Remote Control
The remote control of your TV i de igned to
control all the function of the model you e-
lected. The function will be de cribed in ac-
cordance with the menu y tem of your TV.

Programme Selection (direct access):
Press digitbuttons on the remotecontrol to
selectprogrammes between 0and 9.TV will
switch tothe selected programme.Toselect
programmes between 10 -99,press the digit
buttons consecutively which programme you
want to select(eg. forprogramme 27, first
press 2and then 7). When itis latetopress
second digit button only thefirstdigit
programme will be displayed.The limitofthe
delaytime is 3seconds.
Example:PR6 press 6,PR12 press 1
and 2.
Press directly the programmenumber to
reselect single digit programmes.
Hint: The channel listnumbers areassignedbythe broad-
casters.Because not allchannels arebroadcastfree-to-air
andstoredbythereceiver,the channellist numbersdonot
runcontinuously.Thefifteenthchannelinthelist,forex-
ample,may notbe channel number15butchannelnumber
17.
Hint: If youenter a number which doesnot correspondto a
storedchannel,thenextvalidchannelnumberisselected
instead. If you enter anumber greater than the highest
numberedchannelinthe channellist,theIDTVwillselect
thelastchannel inthelist.
Operatingwhilewatching
IDTV
Pressing theTV/DTV button atany time while
watching television programmes will switch
the TV setbetween displaying the digital ter-
restrial television broadcasting andits nor-
mal analogue broadcasting.
It is also used toswitch tothe lastwatched
mode(TV orDIGITALTV) fromthe EXTmode.
Forexample;ifaDVDplayeris connected
withaSCART cable and powered on,then the
IDTV will automaticallyswitch toEXT mode.
The IDTV will switch tothe lastwatched mode
(TV orDIGITALTV)ifDVD playeris switched
off or “TV/DTV” button is pressed.
EVERYDAY OPERATION
WhileusingtheIDTVtothefull,therearegreat
many buttons to use in different situations.
Manyofthe menu screens displayed bythe
IDTV haveremindersas towhich button do
what, atthe base ofthe screen.Inaddition,
manyscreenshavefurther helpavailablewhich
is displayed when the button is pressed,
as prompted at the bottom ofthe screen.
INFORMATIONBANNER
Wheneveryou changechannel, using the
/ buttons orthe numberbuttons,
an information banneris displayed atthe bot-
tomof thescreen.Thiswillremainonthe
screen forapproximatelythree seconds.The
information bannercan also be displayed at
anytime while watching TV bypressing the
button on the remotecontrol.Pressing the
button again removes the banner..
Hint: Notallchannels broadcast the programme
data.If thename andtimesoftheprogrammeis not
availablethen “NoInformation”is displayedinthe
information banner.
Theinformationbannergivesanumberoffacts
on the channel selected and the programmes
on it. The name ofthe channel is displayed,
along withitschannel listnumberand an in-
dication ofthe strengthofthe signal received
on this tuning channel.
The name and the start and finish time ofthe
programme currentlyshowing on the selected
channel aregiven,and the currenttime.

ELECTRONICPROGRAMMEGUIDE (EPG)
Anotherwayofselecting achannel is withthe
electronic programme guide,orEPG.Like the
Channel List, the EPG screen displaysalist
ofthe stored channels along withinformation
on whatprogrammes arebeing broadcast.
Using the Electronic Programme Guide
EPGcan display 7daysprogramme guide,
but in some areas onlycurrent and next
programme guide is displayed.
By using EPG,you can selectthe channel and
setthe reminderforthe programme which you
do notwanttomiss.
Todisplaythe EPG screen,press the GUIDE
button while watching Digital terrestrial broad-
casting.
You can exitthe EPG screen bypressing the
GUIDE button again or the MENU button.

Programme Reminders
You can easilysetthe reminderso thatyou

tons tochange the date.

The reminder icon will be displayed on the
rightsideofthe chosenprogrammename
and the setting is completed.
When the TV is being watched,itautomati-
callychanges tothe channel ofthe reminded
programme when the start time ofthe sched-
uled programme is reached.
•This function does notworkwhen the TV is
turnedoff.
Tocancelthe remindersetting
Displaythe EPG screen, choose a
programme which has the reminder icon, and
press the OK button.
Note:
•Reminder events are ignored if any timer
eventis activeatthattime.
•You can not set the reminder for the
programme which has alreadystarted.
•“No Information” isdisplayedfor the
programme or channel which does not have
anyinformation.Youcan notsetthe reminder
forthese programmes.

DISPLAYINGTHESUBTITLES
WithDigital terrestrial broadcasting (DVB-T),
some programmes arebroadcast with sub-
titles. Subtitles can be displayed when watch-
ing these programmes.
•Press the SUBTITLEbutton when watching
Digital terrestrial broadcasting (DVB-T).
“Subtitle ON” appearsatthe top-left ofthe
screen and, ifprogramme has subtitles,the
subtitles aredisplayed.
•WhentheSUBTITLEbuttonispressedagain,
“Subtitle OFF”appearsand the subtitles dis-
appear.

DIGITAL TELETEXT
WithDigital terrestrial broadcasting (DVB-T),
in additiontopictures and sound,you can also
watch digital teletext.
Digital teletextis sometimes broadcastatthe
same time as normal broadcasting.
1. Press the button.
The digital teletextinformation appears.
2. Operate it with the colour buttons,
/ / / buttonsand OK button.
The operation method maydifferdepending
on the contentsof the digital teletext.
Follow theinstructions displayed ondigital
teletextscreen.
•When “Press SELECT”orsimilarmessage
appearson the screen,press theOK button.
•Whenthe (Text)buttonispressed,theTV
returns totelevision broadcasting.
•WithDigital terrestrial broadcasting (DVB-T),
in addition todigital teletext broadcasting at
the same time as normal broadcasting,there
are also channels with just digital teletext
broadcasting.
•The aspectratio when watching achannel
with justdigital teletextbroadcastingis the
sameastheaspectratioofthe picture watched
previously.
•When you press the (Text) button while
subtitles areon,the subtitles areturned off.
When you press the (Text) button again,
the digital teletextscreen is displayed.

By setting the timer,you can recordaDigital
terrestrial broadcasting (DVB-T) programme
withaVCR connected to EXT-2while you are
out.
•Beforeusing DTV timerrecording,the VCR
and TVmustbe connected correctly.For
details,see T-V LINKsection.

• When you haveaT-VLINK compatible VCR
connected to Ext-2,all you need to do is set
the TV timer settings and the programme
will be recorded.
By using “DirectRec” ofthe T-V LINK func-
tion,the DirectReccommands aresentfrom
the TV tothe VCR toautomatically start and
end the recording.It is notnecessary toset
the timer on the VCR.
•When yourVCR is not T-V LINK compatible,
you also need tosetthe VCR timersettings
to match the TV timersettings.
•The recording maynot start and stop atex-
actlythe righttimes forsome programmes.
It is recommended thatyou allowsome lee-
waywhen setting the recording times.
• Provided thatthe days and times arenotthe
same,you can setup to ten timersettings.
•When subtitles are ON, the subtitles dis-
played withthe broadcastwill be recorded.
When you do not want to recordthe sub-
titles,you need toturnOFF the subtitles set-
tingsbeforehand (See “Displaying the sub-
titles” section).
•During DTV timerrecording,you areunable
toview the DTV menu.
1.Choose Timersand press the OK button.
The TIMER MENU appears.

ous screen is returned to.
