POWER
Alwaysusetheprovided ACadapter.
Operateonlyfromthe powersourcespecified AC100-240V,50/60Hz(6VDC ,1.5A)on theACadapter.
Inusing,the ACadaptergetheaton thesurface ofthecase. It isnormal,notdefective.
Do not be covered with anymaterialon case ofACadapterwhile itis in operation. Leave the 15 cm
space(minimum)around the AC adapter.

LEADS
Ensurethe powersupplylead, and all otherleads, arepositioned sotheyarenot likelytobe walkedon or

The receivershouldnotbe placed neartonaked flamesorsourcesofintenseheat, suchasan electric fire.

PREPARATION
Connections
Placeyourreceiveronafirm, levelsurfacewithat leasta10cmgaparoundallsidesofthecaseand in
aposition convenient forconnection toyourtelevision, amainspoweroutlet and aTVaerialwall outlet (or
the'flyinglead'fromyourTVaerial,asappropriate).
PleaserefertotheSafetyPrecautionsonpage2.
Turnoffyourtelevision atthemainsand disconnectthelead goingtothe aerialwalloutlet(orthe flyingaerial
lead)andconnectthistotheANTENNAINsocketontherearofthereceiver.Connecttheaerialcablesupplied
fromtheTVOUTsocketonthereceivertotheTVset'saerialsocket.
Connect the TVSCARTsocketon the rearof the receivertoasuitableSCARTsocketon yourtelevision.
Theremaybemorethan one SCARTsocketon yourtelevision and,ifunsurewhichtouse,youshouldrefer
toitsmanualforguidance.

Removethebatterycompartmentcoverfrom therearoftheremotecontrolhandsetbyliftingthecatch
at one side. Insert twoAA(R6)sized batteries, taking caretoobservethe correct orientation asmarked on
theinsideofthecompartment. Replacethecompartmentcover.

PREPARATION
Switchingon
TurnonyourTVsetand selecttheSCARTinput(withtheAVkey,orsimilar,onthe televisionremotecontrol).
Pressthe[STANDBY]keyon theremotecontrolhandset.The powerlampchangetogreenand thereceiver's
menu will be seen on the TVscreen.
Ifyoudo notsee thereceiver's menu onthe televisionscreen,press theAVbuttonon yourTVremotecontrol
until youseetheFirstTimeInstallationmenu.
Initialsettings
Becausethis is the first timethatthe receiverhasbeen used,thereareno channels stored inthe receiver's
memoryandtheFirstTimeInstallationmenu is displayedonthescreen.
First youshouldselectthetypeofTVsetyouhaveconnectedtotheSTB. Press the[LEFT]or[RIGHT]
keysontheremotecontrolhandsettoswitchthe indicatoronthescreen toshoweither16:9, if youhave
a16:9or'widescreen'TV, orto4:3if you haveastandardTVset. Thenpress [OK] tostartthe installation
process. The nextmenu will appear.
Pressthe[OK]keytostarttheautomaticsearch.
The receiverwill automaticallytune tothe UHFtransmission channels 21 to68 looking fordigitalterrestrial
TVbroadcastsand displayingthenamesof channelsfound. This processwill takeabout fiveminutes.
Whenthesearchis finished,thefirst channelofthechannellistandtheinformation bannerisdisplayed
youcan nowwatchdigitalterrestrialbroadcasting,selectingthe channelyourequireasdescribed inthenext
section.
HINT
Depending on thereception conditionsinyourparticulararea,you may find thatthelistof channels
foundincludes oneormorerepeatednames.Thisisbecause thereceivermay detectand storesome
channels, includingthoseitcannot receive clearly, from adjacent areas alongsidethe strong
channelsfrom atransmitternearby. Thisisnot aproblemand theweakerchannelscanbedeleted
from thereceiverlater,as describedin-ADVANCEDOPERATION -Editingthechannel list/PR list
onpage14.

If no digitalterrestrialtelevision broadcastsare
foundthe receiverwill displayamessage:

on page 20toestablishthe causeof theproblem.
When you havefinished watching digitalterrestrial
broadcasting,you maywishtoswitchthe receiver
tostandbytosavepower-althoughthereceivercan
remainpoweredup continuously,evenwhenthe
televisionisturned off, without harmto the
television oritself.
Hint
Instandby,thereceiverstillconsumespower
andtherebycontributes toairand water
pollution andthe exhaustion ofthe World's
naturalresources. Overnight,orwhenyour
receiveris not goingto be usedforlong
periodsof time,you canturnitoff atthemains
andthis will saveenergy(and saveyour
money).Youwill nothave to re-install the
receiverwhenitisturnedonagain.
EVERYDAYOPERATION
Whileusingthe STBtothefulltherearegreatmany
buttonstouseindifferentsituations.Manyofthe
menuscreensdisplayed bythereceiverhave
remindersastowhichkeysdo what, atthe baseof
the screen. Inaddition,manyscreenshavefurther
helpavailablewhichisdisplayed whenthe[i] key
is pressed, aspromptedatthe bottomright ofthe
screen.
ProvidingyourTVsetSCARTsocket hasswitch
control,pressingthe [TV/DTV]keyatanytimewhile
watching television programmeswill switchthe TV
set between displaying the digitalterrestrial
television programme and itsnormalanalogue
televisionreception.
CHANGINGCHANNELS
You can choose thechannelbyusing the P /
buttonsorthenumberbuttons.
Whenusingthenumberbuttons,enterthe
programmenumberasfollows.
Example: PR6 press6, PR12 press 12 ,
PR123 press1,2and 3.
Hint
Thechannellistnumbersareassignedbythe
broadcasters. Becausenot all channels are
broadcastfree-to-airand storedbythereceiver,
the channel listnumbersdonotrun
continuously. Thefifteenthchannel inthelist,
forexample,may not bechannelnumber15 but
channelnumber17.
Hint
Ifyouenteranumberwhichdoes not
correspondto astoredchannel,thenextvalid
channelnumberisselectedinstead.Ifyou enter
anumbergreaterthanthehighestnumbered
channel inthe channel list, the receiverwill
selectthelastchannelinthelist.
InformationBanner
Wheneveryou change channel,using the [P+] and
[P-] keysorthe numberkeys,the receiverdisplays
thechannelpicturealongwithaninformationbanner
atthe bottomofthe screen.This will remainon the
screenforapproximatelythreeseconds. The
information bannercanalso be displayedat any
timewhilewatchingTVbypressingthe[i]keyonthe
remotecontrol. Pressing the [i] keyagainremoves
the banner.
Hint
Notallchannelsbroadcasttheprogramme
data.Ifthenameandtimesoftheprogramme
isnotavailablethen‘NoInformation’is
displayedintheinformationbanner.
The information bannergivesanumberof factson
thechannelselectedandtheprogrammesonit.The
name ofthechannelis displayed,along with its
channellistnumberandanindicationofthestrength
ofthesignalreceived on thistuning channel.
Thename andthestartandfinishtime ofthe
programme currentlyshowing on theselected
channelaregiven, and the currenttime.

Iftheselected channelis locked(see -ADVANCED
OPERATION-ChannelProtectiononpage14),you
mustenterthecorrectfourdigitcodetoviewthe
channel.
CHANNELLIST
Youcanalsoselecttherequiredchanneldirectly
from theon-screen channellist. This is displayed
using the receiver's MainMenu. Firstbring up the
menuwiththe[MENU]keyonthe remotecontrol
handset.
Usingthe[UP]or[DOWN]keyson theremote
control,choosethe Edit PR Listand press the
[OK]key,todisplaythechannellist.
Here,youcanpreviewanychannelstoredbythe
receiverbeforeviewingitfull screen.Thecomplete
listofchannelsisdisplayed inpagesof11channels
at a time, withtheirchannellist numberand a
favourite channeliconifappropriate (see-
ADVANCEDOPERATION-FavouriteChannels).
Thename anda quarter-screen imageofthe
channellast viewedis displayed inthe top right of
thescreen.
Using the [UP]or[DOWN] keys, the highlightis
moved through the list to the channelrequired.
Pressing [OK] nowchangesthe quarter-screen
displaytoshow the highlightedchannel.
Hint
FromtheChannel Listscreen, itispossibleto
editthechannel list, includingchanging the
nameofstoredchannelsordeletingthem.

page14. Whenusing theChannelListto select
channels, use the[LEFT]or[RIGHT] keysto
ensurethatthehighlightedbuttonatthebottom
ofthescreenisSELECT,sonoediting functions
areaccidentallybegun.
When you leave the ChannelList screen, by
pressing[MENU]thechannelshowingonthequarter
screen is selected fornormalviewing on the whole
screen.
ELECTRONIC PROGRAMMEGUIDE
Thefourthwayofselectingachanneliswiththe
electronicprogramme guide, orEPG.The EPGis
accessedbypressing the Guidekey,[GUIDE]. Like
the ChannelList, the EPGscreen displaysalist of
thestored channels along withinformation onwhat
programmesarebeing broadcast.
Depending on the area whereyou arelocated, you
will haveeither7daysEPGorNow and Next EPG.
TheEPGviewsinformation aboutserviceson a7
daybasis.

Thechannelsarelisted at theleftofthe screen,
eachwiththe'currentevent'(thenameofthe
programme showing at that time)and the 'next
events'(the followingprogrammes).WhentheEPG
screen is first displayed, the channellastwatched
is highlighted inthelist of channels.
Detailsofthe selected programmeonthatchannel
(the name oftheprogramme and,typically,a
synopsiswith detailsofthestarsinvolved, the
teamsplaying,orsimilarinformation)alongwiththe
startand finishtimesaredisplayedatthebottom
ofthe screen.
Moving the highlightthrough thelistof channels
usingthe[UP]and[DOWN]keyswillchangethe
programmedetails inthe textwindow toreflect the
channelhighlighted.
You can leave theEPGscreen, bypressing the
[GUIDE] keyagain, orthe [MENU]key.
Hint
Notall channelsbroadcastalltheprogramme
informationdata. Somechannelsdonot
providethecurrent andnextevent dataand/or
theprogramme details.Inthis case the
programmenames and/orthe details are not
displayed.Thisisnot afaultwith yourreceiver.
WhiletheEPGscreenisdisplayed,pressingthe
[UP]or[DOWN]keys changesthetimeand
displaysthehighlightedchannel'sprogrammedetails
forthenexteventsintimeinthe textwindow.As
before, you can browsethroughthelist,checking
theprogrammescomingupnextonallthechannels.
Pressingthe[OK] keywhilethe next eventdetails
aredisplayedwillset areminderto watch that
programme.The scheduled icon will appear.
Youcanreturntothelist ofchannelsbypressing
the [LEFT]keyortothe time and shortevent
descriptionlistbypressing[RIGHT]key.
You can change the daybypressing [YELLOW] or
[BLUE]keys.Pressing[BLUE]willdisplayevents
ofthe nextday.Pressing [YELLOW]will displaythe
eventsof the previousday.
Youcanreturntonormaltelevisionviewing(towatch
the channellast selectedintheEPGscreen)by
pressingthe [GUIDE]keyagain,orthe[MENU] key.
WIDESCREEN
TVsetsareavailablewithscreensof the standard
(4:3)format and widescreen (16:9)format. When
youfirst installedyourreceiveryouspecifiedthe
formatoftheconnectedTV(this cannowbe altered
if necessary;see Section 3 -ADVANCED
OPERATION-Configuring YourReceiver).
Digitalterrestrialtelevisionbroadcastsarealsomade
in both standard and widescreen formats. In
particular,filmsanddramastendtobebroadcast
inwidescreen formattocloseremulatethe cinema
experience, buteven some newsbulletinsare
widescreen.Tohelpget the most frombothTVset
andprogrammewhen awidescreenfilmis watched
onastandardTV,orastandardbroadcastis viewed
on a widescreen set, the receiverincludesthe
[WIDE]key.
Solong asthereceiverhasbeencorrectlysetup
fortheTVsetconnected,awidescreen programme
will alwaysbe displayed correctlyon awidescreen
set,andastandardformatprogrammewillcorrectly
fillthescreenofastandardformatTV.
WithastandardformatTVdisplayingawidescreen
programme, the [WIDE]keyswitchesbetween
displayingthe picturewithblackbarsatthe top and
bottomofthe screen,andfilling the wholeheightof
the screenbut croppingthe sidesoff accordingto
instructionsbroadcastwiththe programme(called
'panand scan').
The effect of the [WIDE] keyon the picturedisplay
iscancelledbypressing [WIDE]again,changing
channelorturning thereceivertostandby.
Subtitle
With Digitalterrestrialbroadcasting,some
programmesarebroadcast withsubtitles.
Subtitlescan be displayedwhenwatching these
programmes.

TV/ DTVKey
Ifthereis no connected VCR device, The TV/DTV
keyis usedtoswitchTVandDIGITAL TVmodes.
Whenthe set-top boxis inTVmode,the TVscart
isnotswitchedandtheTVoperatesinanalogmode.
When the set-top boxis inDIGITAL TVmode, this
timethe TVscart is switched onand the TVis
switchedtoAV/RGBmode.And also,whenthereis
no menu on the screen ,pressing TV/DTVkeywill
manuallytogglethesettopboxbetweenVCRmode
andTVmode.InVCR modesettop boxwilldisplay
the output ofVCR device, InTVmodeset top box
displaysitsownoutputs.
Ifboxscart modeisnotchangedbypressingTV/
DTVkey, scartmode willbe automatically
detected.(Forexampleifadvdplayeris connected
toVCR scartand powered on,then the settop box
will immediatelyswitchtoVCRmode. The set top
boxwillswitchtoTVmode ifdvdplayeris switched
off)
ADVANCEDOPERATION
CONFIGURINGYOUR RECEIVER
Manyaspectsof yourreceivercan be set up to
reflectyourcircumstancesand preferences.The
Configurationmenuscreen isaccessedfromthe
MainMenu. Press the [MENU]keytodisplaythe
Main Menu and the [DOWN] keyto highlight
Configuration, thenpress [OK] todisplaythe
Configurationmenuscreen.
Thevariousconfiguration functionsaredisplayed
inalist, alongwithaquarter-screen image of the
currentlyselected channel.You can select a
functionbyhighlightingthecorrespondingmenuline
with the [UP] or[DOWN] keys.There are seven
configurationfunctions.
MENU
UseLEFT/RIGHTbuttonstotoggleSystemMenu
Language. Press OKon the preferred language.
AUDIOLANGUAGE
Digitalterrestrialtelevisionchannels canbroadcast
simultaneoussoundtracksin more than one
language.Thisfunctionselectswhichlanguage
soundtrackyouwillhearwhenswitchingtoachannel
broadcasting withmultiplesoundtracks. Seealso
Section 2 -EVERYDAYOPERATION-Audio
Control.
Highlight theAudioLanguage linein the
Configurationmenu andusethe [LEFT]or[RIGHT]
keystocyclethroughthelanguageoptions.
ReturnNoMenu tonormalTVviewing bypressing
the [MENU] key.
DOLBYDIGITAL
Enable/ disableDolbyDigitalbymeansof [LEFT]
or[RIGHT]. Dolbydigitalisonlyavailable ifyou
havea home entertaintment system.”Dolby”and
thedouble-Dsymbolaretrademarks ofDolby
Laboratories.
SUBTITLE
Digitalterrestrialtelevisionchannels canbroadcast
withsubtitlesdisplayed on-screen forthehard-of-
hearing. Thisfunctionselectsthe desired subtitle
language andenablesthe automaticdisplayof
subtitleswheneversubtitleinformationisbroadcast.
HighlighttheSubtitleline intheConfigurationmenu
andusethe [LEFT]or[RIGHT]keysto cycle
through the language options.
ReturnNOMENUtonormalTVviewing bypressing
the [MENU] key.
TVTYPE
Digitalterrestrialtelevisionchannels canbroadcast
programmesinawidescreenformatwhichmustbe
outputdifferentlytonormalandwidescreenTVsets.
This functiontells the receiverthe screen formatof
the TVconnected sothatbroadcastsaredisplayed
correctly.
HighlighttheTVTypelineintheConfigurationmenu
andusethe[LEFT]or[RIGHT]keystoselect 4:3
if youhaveastandardTVsetconnected or16:9if
it isawidescreenTV.Thisfunction duplicatesthe
selectionmade at the timeof first installation (see
1-PREPARATION -Tuning In)and can be used if
youchangeTVsets.ReturntonormalTVviewingby
pressingthe[MENU]key.
VIDEOOUT
Thereceivercan outputeitheran RGB/Y/C,Video
signalfromtheTVSCARTontherearpanel.
Although the RGBformatresultsinabetterquality
picture,notallequipment-particularlysomeVCRs
-can copewithan RGBsignal(seeAppendixC-
ConnectingAVCR).

FAVOURITEMODE
Use[LEFT] or[RIGHT]buttonstotoggleFavourite
Mode.You canenable/disablethe FavouriteMode
bymeansof thesekeys.
PARENTALSETTINGS
Use [UP] or[DOWN] buttonsto go to Parental
Settingsoption. Press OKbutton toenterParental
SettingsMenu. Aboxasking forthe lockkeyis
displayed. Thereis onlyone keywhich is set to
“0000”initially. Enterlockkey.If it is incorrect, it is
returned back. If it is correct, the ParentalSettings
Menu including following itemsis displayed:There
you can set/reset locking forthe MainMenu,orthe
InstallationMenutorestrictaccess.Ifthe menulock
isdisabled,therewillbe freeaccesstothemenu
system.You can change the lockkey.
MaturityLock: use[UP]or[DOWN] buttonstogo
to MaturityLockoption. Use [LEFT] or[RIGHT]
buttonstotoggleMaturityLockMode.Whenset,this
optiongetsthe maturityinformationfromthe
broadcast andif this maturitylevelis disabled,
doesnot show video-audio.
Menu Lock:use[UP]or[DOWN]buttonstogoto
LockMenuoption.Use[LEFT]or[RIGHT]buttons
totoggleMenu LockMode.
OFF: Allmenusareunlocked.
MAINMENU:MainMenu isaccessibleonlywiththe
correct lock key.Sothe usercan’t add,delete,
rename, channels, can’tset timers.
INSTALLATION: Installationmenu is locked.Sothe
usercan’t add channels.Changeswill beupdated
afterexiting‘ConfigurationMenu’.
SetLockKey:use[UP]or[DOWN]buttonstogo
toSetLockKeyoption.UseOKbuttontoenternew
password. New PasswordMenu is displayed. Use
NUMERICbuttonsto enternewpassword. New
Passwordisasked twiceforconfirmation.If both
passwordsarefourdigitslong andthesame, the
passwordis changed.Itis updated afterexiting the
ParentalMenu.
EnterPINCODE:use[UP]or[DOWN]buttonsto
gotoEnterPINcode option.UseOKbuttontoenter
new password. New PasswordMenu is displayed.
UseNUMBERbuttonstoenternewpassword.New
Passwordisaskedtwiceforconfirmation.
ANTENNAPOWER
Use [UP] or[DOWN] buttonsto goto Antenna
PowerSupplySetting.The setting willbe OFF as

EDITINGTHECHANNELLIST
The digitalterrestrialtelevision channels found by
the receiverwhen first installed are storedin its
memoryasachannellist.Thislist canbe altered
andamended toremoveunwantedchannels andto
suityourownpreferences.
First bring upthe MainMenu withthe [MENU] key
onthe remotecontrolhandset.Then,using the[UP]
or[DOWN] keyson the remotecontrol,choosethe
EditPRlist andpressthe [OK] key,todisplaythe
ChannelList.
The ChannelList screen displaysthelist of
channels inthe receiver'smemory, withaquarter-
screenimagewindowshowingtheselectedchannel,
andcan be used tochangechannelsforviewing,
deletechannelsfromthe memory,editthe nameof
the channelasitappearsinthe listand on-screen,
lockachannelagainstviewingbyyoungermembers
ofthefamily,andsetupfavourite
channels.ChannelList functionsarecarried outon
one channelat atime. The channeltobe affected
isfirsthighlightedinthe list usingthe[UP]or
[DOWN]keys.

Thisfunctionselectsachannelforviewingandis
analternativetousing the[P+]and[P-]keys,
channelnumberorEPG.Highlightthechanneltobe
viewedusingthe [LEFT]or[RIGHT]keysandpress

image window and you canleavethe ChannelList

DELETE
Theinitialinstallationofthe DVB -Treceivercan
produceduplicateentriesinthechannellistfrom
transmittersoperatingatdifferentfrequenciesin
adjacentareas, andyou maywishtodeletethese
duplicate entriesfromthe list. In addition, other
channelswhichyou do notwantinthe list.Highlight
thechanneltobedeleted,highlight theDELETE
buttonatthebaseofthescreenusingthe[LEFT]
or[RIGHT]keys, andpress [OK]. The highlighted
channelisdeletedfromthe list.
Youcan nowperformfurtherediting on thechannel
list,orreturnto normalbroadcastviewing by
pressingthe[MENU]key.
EDITNAME
Thechannelnameswhichappearinthechannellist
andthe information bannerareassigned bythe
broadcastersand some longernamesare
abbreviatedtobecomeunrecognisable.Youcanedit
the namesto suityourpreferenceswith theEdit
Namefunction.
Highlight the channeltobe renamed, highlight the
EDITNAMEbutton at the baseofthe screen using
the[LEFT]or[RIGHT]keys,andpress[OK]. The
highlightedchannelnameappearsontherightofthe
screen with thefirst characterhighlightedbya
cursor. Anyofthe15 charactersthatmake upa
channelnamecan be highlighted using the [LEFT]
or[RIGHT] keysand the highlighted character
changed bypressingthe [UP]or[DOWN] keysto
cycle through the alphabet, numbersand other
charactersavailable.
When the required changeshavebeen made,
pressing [OK] storesthe new nameandreturnsto
the ChannelList screen. Alternatively, pressing
[MENU] will abandon the namechangeand return
tothe previousname.Youcan now performfurther
editing onthechannellist, orreturnto normal
broadcastviewingbypressingthe [MENU]key.
UsingtheothertwofunctionsoftheChannelList
menuscreen-LOCKand FAVOURITES-is dealt
withinthenextsections.

Youcanalsoenterachannelnameusingthe
numberkeyson theremotecontrol. Eachkey
representsseverallettersandpressingakey
several times will entereachletter(inboth
capitalsandlowercase), and the number,in
turn,inthecharacterposition markedby the
cursor. Thezerokey entersall thepunctuation
marksavailableandablankspace.With
practise, thisisaveryquick meansof entering
therequiredlettersintothechannelname.
EDITNUMBER
Reordering the listcan be done bymoving the
programsonebyonetonew positions.Inorderto
dothat“Move”button is highlightedusing [LEFT]or
[RIGHT]keysthenprogramtomoveis selectedwith
[UP] or[DOWN] keys. Afterpressing OKkeya
boxappears.Enterthe newpositionofthe channel
bymeansofnumericbuttonsandpressOKtofinish
movingprogram.
CHANNELAND MENU PROTECTION
CHANNELLOCK
Somechannelsbroadcastmaterialwhichyoudonot
want youngermembersofthe familytowatch. Any
channelcanbe'locked'sothatitcannotbeselected
forviewing without firstafour-digit PIN code being
entered.Inthiswayanychannelnot suitable for
youngerviewerscanbeprotected.
Thechannellockis applied withtheChannelList
menu.Pressthe [MENU] keyon the remotecontrol
handset todisplaytheMainMenu and then, using
the [UP]or[DOWN] keysonthe remote control,
choosetheEditPRlist andpressthe[OK]key.
Highlightthechanneltobe lockedusing the [UP]or
[DOWN] keys. Now selectthe LOCKbutton at the
baseofthescreen withthe [LEFT]or[RIGHT]keys
andpress[OK].
Awindowrequesting thePINcode is displayedand
the four-digit code should be entered using the
numberkeysonthe remotecontrol,followed bythe
[OK]key.Alockiconis thendisplayed alongsidethe
channelnameinthe channellist.

FAVOURITECHANNELS
Therewillbe somechannels thatyoutend towatch
moreoften andsome onlyoccasionally.Although
some duplicatechannelsyou maywanttodelete
fromthe channellist, othersalthoughnot watched
frequently,you will not want to do awaywith
altogether. Thefavourite mode allowsthemost-
watchedchannelstoaccessed moreeasily,leaving
theless-watchedchannelsaccessiblebutoutofthe
way.
When the favouritemode is activated,the [P+] and
[P-] keyscyclethrough the favouritechannels only
and the EPGwilllistthe favourite channelsonly
(otherchannelscanstillbeaccessedbychannellist
numberorfrom theChannelListmenu screen).
Anychannelcan be a favouritechanneland the
ChannelListmenu is used tolabelthosechannels
you want asfavourites.
Displaythe ChannelList menu screen by
highlighting ChannelListon theMain Menu and
pressing[OK].
Usethe[LEFT] or[RIGHT]keysto highlight the
FAVOURITES button atthe baseofthe screen and
then,inturn,highlighteachchannelthatisrequired
tobea favourite channel,using the [UP] and
[DOWN] keys(and the [PAGEUP] or[PAGE
DOWN] keys),and press [OK]. Achannelselected
asafavouriteappearsinthe mainchannellistwith
afavouritesiconagainst the channelname.
Achannelcan havethis icon removed by
repeatingthisprocedure,toremovethe icon.Leave
theChannelList menu bypressing [MENU].Once
the required channelshave been marked as
favourite channels,thefavourite mode can be
activatedtoallow easyaccess tothem. Press the
[MENU] keytodisplaythe MainMenu,the [DOWN]
keyto highlight Configuration,andpress[OK]to
displaytheConfigurationscreen. Pressthe
[DOWN]keytohighlighttheFavouriteModelineand
usingthe[LEFT]or[RIGHT]keyschangethe
setting fromOff toOn.
WhenyouleavetheConfigurationmenubypressing
[MENU]the favouritemode isactivated.Now,
changingchannelusingthe [P+]or[P-]keyswill
switchtoonlythosechannelsmarked asfavourites
inthe channellist.
You can stillaccess all the channels inthe channel
listbypressingintheirchannellistnumberorby
selection fromthe ChannelList inthe EditPR List.
Alternativelyyou can switchoff the favouritemode
fromthe FavouriteMode lineoftheConfiguration
menu.

Thefavouritemodecanonlybeactivatedifone

toselect the required channelwhen it is needed.
DisplaytheMainMenu bypressing the[MENU] key
and highlightand select the Timersline todisplay
theTimermenu screen.Uptofiveseparatetimer
eventscanbesetandeachisdisplayedintheTimer
screen,showing the event number, the channelto
be selected,the start time, end time,dateandthe
mode-whetherthateventisactive(andwillbeacted
on)ornot.
Tosetan event, highlightitsmode button using the
[UP]or[DOWN]keysand press [OK]todisplaythe
timerentrywindow.Herethefivesettingsofchannel
name, start time, end time, date and frequency
mode can be set. You can move freelybetween
eachsettingusing the [UP]and [DOWN]keys.The
channelnameis setusingthe [LEFT] or[RIGHT]
keystodisplaythe channelwhichbroadcaststhe
programmetoberecorded.Thestarttime,endtime
and dateareeachsetwiththe numberkeyson the
remotecontrolin24-hourformat.Thefrequency
mode determineshow oftenthe receiveroperates
thiseventandissetwiththe[LEFT]or[RIGHT]keys
tobeeitherOnce,Daily,orWeekly.

Ifaninvalidnumberforthestartorendtimes
orthedateisentered,thehighestvalidnumber
isautomaticallyenteredinits place. So,
entering 28:30as thetime willautomatically
changeto23:30,andadateof15:14:2002 will
changeto 15:12:2002.
Pressing[MENU]or[OK]returnstotheTimerscreen
withthe settingsinplaceinthe timereventlist.The
event mode is automaticallysettoActiveand you
cannowreturntonormalviewing(pressthe[MENU]
keys)and at the appointedtimethereceiverwill
switchovertothe required channeland at the end
oftheevent,switchthereceiverto standby.
Whenthe Timerscreenis displayed,anyeventcan
be set to be Inactive (soit will not occur) orthe
channel, timesand frequencymode altered by
highlighting theevent's Modebutton andpressing
[OK] asbefore.You can exitthe Timerscreen and
returntonormalTVviewingbypressing[MENU].

timethetimereventstarts,amessageisflashed

frequencies, youwishto reinstatea channel

Thereceivercan searchforchannelsautomatically

airchannels)ormanually(searching one specified
broadcast frequencyonlyforanychannels to be
foundthere).
To performAutomaticsearch, SelectAutomatic
Searchwiththe [UP]or[DOWN] keysandpress
[OK]. Awarning message isdisplayed. This starts
theautomatic tuningprocess andsearchesthrough
all theavailablebroadcast frequenciesforfree-to-
airchannels.Previouschannelswill bereplaced on
automaticsearch.
If,alternatively,fromthe searchoptionsmenu the
ManualSearchlineishighlighted and[OK]pressed,
themanualsearchscreenisdisplayed.

Thisis forsearchingfordigitalchannels onasingle
broadcast frequency.Thefrequencychannel
number(21-69)is entered inthe boxat the top left
ofthescreenandthereceivedsignallevelandsignal
qualitycanbeobservedon thetwobargraphsatthe
bottom. When [OK] is pressed, the receiver
searchesthat frequencyand displaya list of the

Thebargraphsof signalqualityandsignal
level give agoodindication ofwhetherany
channelsarelikelyto befound.Ifonlythesignal
level graph showsahighvaluethenitislikely
