LOG SPLITTER KS 7THE 52/30 OPERATION 4
1. Plan the work area before using the log splitter. Have
the logs positioned where they can be easily reached.
2. The log splitter accommodates logs up to 52 cm in
length. The log splitter will work most eciently on dry,
seasoned logs.
3. Position the log splitter securely on level ground or on a
secure stand. If necessary stabilise the wheels to prevent
the log splitter from moving during use. If using an exten-
sion cable, do so in a safe way to avoid damaging the ca-
ble or creating a hazard.
4. Before operating the log splitter, the bleed
screws (Fig. 3) should be loosened by 3-4 turns to al-
low the air to go in and out of the oil tank. Re-tighten the
screw when the work is complete or when moving the log
splitter to avoid oil leaks.
5. Always place logs rmly on the main body, lying at
against the log guide plates (Ref A on Fig1). Never attempt
to split a log at an angle and make sure the logs will not
twist or slip whilst being split.
Ensure the splitting wedge (Ref J on Fig. 1) and the log
pusher (Ref B on Fig. 1) will make contact with the log
squarely at each end.
6. For reasons of safety the log splitter requires a
two-handed operation. Switch on the electric motor us-
ing the green starting switch (Ref F on Fig. 1). Using both
hands press down on both operating handles (Ref C on
Fig. 1). The log splitter will compress the log, pushing
against the splitting wedge. When the log is split release
both handles – this will allow the log pusher to retract.

NOTICE
The kinetic log splitter operates differently than a
hydraulic splitter. Not operating the machine properly
will result in damage to the machine.
This is a high-powered machine, with moving parts op-
erating with high energy. You must operate the machine
safely. Unsafe operation can create a number of hazards
for you, as well as anyone else in the nearby area.
WARNING!
Fig. 6 Fig. 7Fig. 5
All logs should be no longer than rated. Refer to the following photos for the correct and incorrect methods
of splitting logs. Never split a log using an incorrect or unsafe method.
• Do not place your hands on the ends of the log when loading the Log Splitter. This is a very UNSAFE
method and could result in injury to your hands (Figure 5).
• Do not reach or step across the beam while the Log Splitter is running. This is a very UNSAFE method
which could cause personal injury or even death.
• Never attempt to split wood across the grain (Fig. 6). The Log Splitter was not designed for cross-grain
splitting. Doing so could damage the Log Splitter and may cause personal injury.
• Make sure both ends of the log you are splitting are cut as square as possible (Fig. 6). This will prevent the
log from sliding out of position while under pressure (Fig. 7).
Always follow these notices:
• Do not be timid. A rapid movement of the Engagement Handle is necessary for the Rack and Pinion to
engage and disengage fully without damage. www.ks-power.de/en |5

4-5 cm
Hands on Sides
of Wood Fig. 8
• Do not hold the Handle in the forward position
when the Ram stops moving forward. Always pull the
Engagement Handle RAPIDLY to the back (Auto-Retract)
position as soon as the Log is split or when the Ram is
at the end of the stroke or when the Ram stops moving
forward due to a tough log.
1. Place the log on the Log Splitter. Grasp the log on the
sides near the middle of the block (Fig. 8). Center the log,
side-to-side, on the rail of the Log Splitter. Do not place
the log tightly to the cutting knife. The recommended
distance from the cutting knife is 4-5 cm.
The engagement Handle must be held fully in the Split
Position against the hard stop when splitting. Failure to
do so may result in kickback of the Handle.
CAUTION!
2. With one hand, actuate and hold the safety lever
towards you, then RAPIDLY actuate the Engagement
Handle fully towards the Motor until it contacts the
hard stop and hold firmly until the Log is split (Fig. 9).
3. IMMEDIATELY AFTER the log is split, actuate and
hold the Engagement Handle to the Auto-Retract
position to allow the Ram to return. If the Ram stops
before the end of the stroke while splitting a tough
log, quickly actuate the Engagement Handle back to
the Auto-Retract position.

backward positions.
SHARPENING THE WEDGE AND CLEANING THE GUIDE RAILSHARPENING THE WEDGE AND CLEANING THE GUIDE RAIL
After using the log splitter for some time, sharpen the wedge using a fine tooth file and smooth any burrs
or rough edges along the cutting edge.
Clean the guide rail regularly, especially when splitting wood that is rich in resin.
TO FREE A JAMMED LOG 6
Release both operating handles so that the log pusher is fully
retracted. Insert a triangular wedge of wood under the log and
activate the log pusher to push the wedge under the jammed log.
Repeat this process using progressively larger wedges until the
jammed log is freed.
Never hammer a jammed log or place your hands near
