should be le t to a quali ied electrician according to valid sa ety regulations.
For your own sa ety, do not allow anyone other than a quali ied service
technician to install, service or repair this appliance.
■ The sur aces o the heating and cooking zones become hot during use.
There ore be care ul: Always make sure that children are kept well away!
or the hob
■ Overheated ats and oils may spontaneously ignite. Food involving the use
o ats and oils, e.g. chips, may only be cooked under supervision. Never
extinguish ignited ats and oils with water! Put the lid on, turn o the
cooking zone and remove the pan.
■ I cracks, ractures or any other de ects appear in your glass ceramic hob,
immediately switch o the appliance. Disconnect use immediately and call
the Customer service.
■ I the hob cannot be switched o due to a de ect in the sensor control
immediately disconnect your appliance and call the Customer service.
■ Take care when working with attachments! The connecting cable must not
contact the hot cooking zones.
■ The glass ceramic hob should not be used as a storage area.
■ Do not place combustible or ignitable objects on the cooking area which
might be dangerous i the appliance is switched on unintentionally.
■ Do not switch the cooking zone on i not using it or cooking. Never use the
appliance to heat a room! This would result in improper operating
conditions.
■ Do not put kitchen oil or plastic onto the cooking zone. Keep everything
which could melt, such as plastics, oil and in particular sugar and sugary
oods away rom the hot cooking zone. Remove sugar immediately rom the
hob when it is still hot with a scraper to avoid damage
■ Avoid repeated burning o ood residues and boiling over.
■ Lime deposits are harm ul to the cooking zone.
Before using the appliance for
the first time
Remove packaging and non-essential components. Be ore preparing the irst
meals clean the glass ceramic hob by means o a moist cloth and a bit
washing-up liquid.
The hob is resistant against thermal shocks (coldness and heat) and also very
robust.
■ Always ensure that no hard objects are dropped onto the cooking sur ace.
Pointed objects alling onto your hob might break it.
■ Please observe the cleaning and servicing instructions. Be especially care ul
to keep the sensor keys clean since soiling could be mistaken or inger
contact by the appliance. Never put anything (pans, tea towels etc.) onto
the sensor keys! I ood boils over onto the sensor keys, we advise you to
activate the emergency switch.
■ When switching on the cooking zones a short buzzing noise may be heard
rom the heating. This is design-speci ic and has no in luence on quality
and operation.
Using the cooking zone
Please note the safety instructions!
Subsequent to initial connection and in the event o a power ailure, the
controls will be tested automatically. When the automatic test is being
per ormed, a Minus symbol lights up on the control. This symbol extinguishes
again once the test has been completed.
Important:
No objects must be lying on top o the sensors when adjusting the sensor’s
sensitivity.
Using the Multi-Cooker cooking zone
This cooking zone transmits heat directly to the ood. Cooking directly on the
glass ceramic sur ace enables a highly economical use o cooking ats. This
gentle and low at cooking method preserves vital vitamins and minerals, no
matter whether ood is boiled, roasted, steamed, barbecued, braised or
poached. You can, o course, also use corresponding pots and pans on the
cooking zone.
Foods that contain large amounts o sugar should not be prepared directly on
the cooking zone. High temperatures cause the sugar to melt into the glass
ceramic sur ace and can damage it permanently.
Any sugar that has accidentally come into contact with the cooking zone must
be immediately removed rom the hot zone with a scraper.
Turning the hob on
Touch the On/O sensor.
The cooking level indicator o the
cooking zone displays a “0”.
The appliance is in operation
(stand-by mode).
The standby mode is automatically turned o again i the cooking zone is not
activated within 10 seconds.
16 EMG 457.0 / EMGF 457.0
The cooking levels
There exist 9 cooking levels.
The cooking setting required can be activated by means o the Plus or the
Minus sensor. It is shown in the display.
The “0” setting remains visible or approx. 10 seconds a ter switch-o .
I you touch the Plus sensor, the
cooking zone starts at setting 9.
When doing so, the automatic
parboil unction is automatically
activated, and this is indicated by
the lit up decimal point.
I the Minus sensor is touched, the
cooking zone starts to operate at
level 4 without the automatic boost
unction.
Switching o the cooking zone:
press the Plus sensor and the Minus sensor simultaneously.
The “0” setting remains visible or approx. 10 seconds a ter switch-o .
Automatic boost unction
The cooking zone has an automatic initial cooking unction. The parboiling
boost is activated at ull power. The parboiling boost time depends on the
subsequent cooking level which has been selected a ter the activation. The
cooking zone automatically changes to the selected subsequent cooking level
as soon as the set parboiling boost time has elapsed.
When the cooking zone is turned
on by using the Plus sensor, a
decimal point is displayed behind
cooking level 9.
The decimal point indicates that
the automatic parboil unction is
active.
To prevent the automatic parboil
unction rom deactivating itsel ,
the required cooking level must be
set by using the Minus sensor
be ore the decimal point
extinguishes (within approx.
10 seconds).
The automatic boost unction will
not be active i a cooking level is
set a ter the decimal point has
extinguished.
When the automatic parboil
unction is activated, the cooking
zone will heat up to ull capacity or
the duration o the time stated in
the table on the le t.
The decimal point extinguishes
once this time has elapsed and the
cooking zone then continues to
heat up according to the set
cooking level.
I the cooking level is changed
during the automatic boost, the
boost time that has already
elapsed is automatically subtracted rom the boost time associated with the
newly set cooking level.

Activating the outer cooking zone circuit
As a standard rule, the small cooking zone circuit is heated.
The outer cooking zone circuit can be switched on when using larger or
several pans.
Touch the cooking zone symbol next to the
Plus/Minus sensors.
The pilot light above the cooking zone
symbol lights up to indicate that the outer
cooking zone circuit is active.
The outer cooking zone circuit can be
deactivated by touching the cooking zone
symbol a second time.
Which are the best pots and pans?
Use pots and pans with flat, smooth bottoms.
The cooking time with pans and pots with curved bottoms is longer and
consumes more energy. Pans with rough bottoms scratch the glass ceramic
cooking sur ace when they are moved. When using cookware made rom
ireproo glass or porcelain please ollow the instructions o the manu acturer.
Choose a pot or pan whose diameter fits the cooking zone.
By doing this you save energy and cooking time and avoid the overheating o
the hob.
If possible always place a lid on the pan.
You save a lot o energy by cooking in a closed pan. Food only boils over when
the temperature is too high. For the cooking zone, you can precisely set the
temperature required. With a little practice, you will readily make the correct
choice o cooking settings so that nothing boils over even when a lid is in
place.
The emergency switch
The cooking zone can be switched
o quickly by means o the ON/
OFF sensor.
Time limit unction (holiday unction)
The appliance has an automatic time limit unction. It prevents the appliance
rom being in operation or a longer period o time.
The timer o the time limit unction depends on the setting o the cooking level:
The higher the setting o the cooking level the aster it switches o .
Other unctions
■ I two or more sensors are pressed at the same time – e.g. when a pan is
mistakenly put onto a sensor – no unction is activated. A ter 10 seconds
the appliance switches o automatically.
Exception

What to do if trouble occurs
Unplug the appliance before repair!
First check whether there has been any operating error. You can deal with
some problems that occur yoursel .
Important note:
Repairs should only be carried out by a quali ied and authorised trained
installer!
Even during the guarantee period repairs will not be ree o charge i due to
incorrect operation or to non-adherence to our instructions given under “What
to do i trouble occurs”.
Should you need to contact Customer service or order spare parts, always
quote the in ormation printed on the model identi ication plate. The rating label
is located at the bottom side o the hob. You will also ind it stuck onto the
ront page o the operating instructions enclosed.
Cleaning and Care
=Never clean the glass ceramic hob with a steam cleaner or similar
appliance!
=Never use cleansers which contain silicon, since these leave behind a
protective ilm, i.e. residues, which could get into the ood that is cooked
next. There ore, ollow the instructions o the manu acturer in this regard.
■ Clean the hob every time a ter use.
■ Only use the supplied cleaning scraper to
remove ood residues.
■ Never use abrasive materials such as steel
wool or abrasive cleansers!
■ Be especially careul to keep the sensors
clean since soiling could be mistaken or
inger contact by the appliance.
Never put anything (pans, tea towels etc.) onto the sensors! I ood boils
over onto the sensors, we advise you to activate the emergency switch.
■ Make sure that no cleaning residuals remain on the cooking zone.
FResidues o cleaning agents can cause discolouring the next time you
switch it on. Cloths and sponges which are used or the cleaning o other
sur aces can cause discolouring.
■ We recommend cleaning the hob with hal a lemon or lemon juice. This
enables slight protein residues, e.g. rom meat, to be removed easily and
makes the hob gleam again.
Using a cleaning scraper
=Caution! Risk o cutting! The blade o the
cleaning scraper is very sharp!
Always hold the cleaning scraper lat to the sur ace
and push the grease away rom you.
=Do not scratch the sur ace with the edge o
the scraper.
Cleaning the cooking zone
=Make sure that no cleaning residuals remain on the cooking zone.
– First o all remove all ood residuals and at splashes rom the hot cooking
zone by means o the cleaning scraper.
– Clean the cooking zone with water and some detergent.
– Rewipe it with clear water and inally dry it.
FIn case there are still some soil particles le t on the cooking zone a ter
cleaning, they can easily be removed by means o a special cleansing
agent, e.g. VSR O-FIX-C (available rom the Küppersbusch Customer
service). Then wipe o the entire cooking zone with a wet and a terwards
with a dry cloth.

Installation
Please note
FThe model EMG has an installation depth o 55 mm, thus the hob cannot
be mounted above an oven.
■ Do not use a screw driver to lever the appliance out o the opening. This
will damage the rame o appliance. When removing the appliance press it
rom the bottom out o the opening.
Notes or itting
■ The worktop must be installed absolutely horizontally and the opening must
be cleanly cut.
■ The distances o the
opening to the wall or
the ront, the back and
the side have to
correspond to the
dimension drawing!
A corner moulding o
solid wood may be itted
to the worktop at the
back o the cooking zones
provided that the
minimum clearances are
maintained.
The distance to mounted
cupboards should be or
technical reasons at least
300 mm.
■ Cooker hoods or wall cupboards mounted above the hob must be installed
with a minimum distance o 650 mm to the hob.
■ No cross-bars may be in the area o the cut-out underneath. They have to
be reduced at least to the opening size o the worktop.
■ The plastic inish or the veneer o built-in kitchen urniture must have been
produced using a heat-resistant adhesive (100 °C).
■ The properly installed device
must be protected with a
cover in such a way that it is
impossible to accidentally
come into contact with the
bottom side o the hob.
This cover must only be able
to be removed with the aid o
tools and must be attached at
a minimum distance o 20 mm rom the bottom o the hob, so that the
power supply cable k does not touch the bottom o the hob.
■ Minimum distance between the edge o the hob and neighbouring walls:
40 mm.
We recommend to seal the cut sections o the worktop or built-in sinks and
oven hobs with a water-repellent protection paint.
Each time the appliance is removed rom the worktop, replace the seals.
=The hob must under no circumstances be sealed with silicone
sealant!
This would mean that it will be impossible to remove the hob at a later
date without damaging it.
Installing several hobs
■ When installing several hobs side by side please observe the minimum
distances between the worktop openings as shown in the drawings:

Installation o the glass ceramic hob EMG
Using clips makes it easier and quicker or you to install these units. You can
carry out the complete installation work rom above.
■ Be extremely care ul when installing the glass ceramic cooking sur ace!
Do not place or drop any sharp or pointed tools (screwdrivers, etc.) on the
glass sur ace!
■ The glass ceramic hob must have a level and lush bearing. Any distortion
may lead to racture o the glass panel.
Making the worktop recess
– Make the worktop recess accurately with a good, straight saw blade or
recessing machine in accordance with the dimensions in the illustrations.
– The cut edges should then be sealed so that no moisture can penetrate.
Checking or replacing the sealing
– Check that the seal its well and has no gaps.
When installing a hob into an uneven worktop, e.g. with a ceramic or similar
covering (tiles etc.), the seal on the hob is to be removed and the seal between
the hob and worktop made with plastic sealing materials (not included in scope
o delivery).
Such sealing compound can be purchased as KÜPPERSBUSCH spare part
No. 53 55 69.
– Clean the sur aces, apply the sealant in a continuos strip and press the hob
into the opening.
– Remove excess sealant by cutting and clean the sealed sur ace immediately
with water.
Drive in the clips
FWhen installing the class ceramic hob into a stone worktop, proceed as
described in the “Installing in a worktop made o stone” section.
– Align the clips care ully and drive them in with a hammer.
Worktops with more than
30 mm thickness:
With workingtops with 30 mm
thickness the clips have to be
screwed down with two screws
(not supplied)!
Insert the clips of the hob
– Position the hob on the le t side
(1), align it (2) and insert the
clips (3).
Be careul not to pinch the
connecting cable!
=The hob must rest evenly in the opening. I the strain o the hob is too
great the appliance can crack when heating up.
FI the hob is not ixed tightly in the opening it
is slightly too big. In this case screw the clips
with two screws down each (not supplied) to
raise the spring tension.
Installing in a worktop made of stone
=Never use any electrically operated or air operated wrenches and avoid
any overtightening!
– Place the hob into the
worktop cutout and
align it.
There is a risk o
breakage i the hob is
canted or subjected to
stress during
installation!
– Fasten the hob rom
below with the tension
springs as shown in the
illustrations.

Installation o the glass ceramic hob EMGF
Attention when using plastic worktops !
Some producers o plastic worktops re use to lush-installed hobs into their
plastic worktops. Please make enquiries at the producer o your worktop
concerning usability in the case o lush-installed hobs. Should a producer not
expressly agree to installation, we must point out that we will not be held liable
or any consequential damage to the worktop (which may possibly tear due to
thermal expansion).
Device and cutout dimensions
Installation on milling out the worktop.
Installation using supporting angles or strips o wood or
stone.
Making the worktop recess
The cut-out is produced in two work steps.
1. Make the opening or the base
trough.
2. Making the recess or the support
o the glass ceramic hob.
(For this recess at least one
recessing machine with guide strip
is required.)
The outside dimension o the recess should always be about 6 mm longer
than the outside dimension o the glass ceramic hob so that a seal can be
provided (see: “Gluing in the hob”).
FAlternatively, instead o carrying out the second stage, the support o the
glass ceramic hob can be cut out completely and then glued in again
with the height adjusted.
It is also possible to install strips o wood or stone as well as steel angles.
1. Make the opening or the hob.
2. Fix the strip o wood or stone or
the supporting angle onto the
worktop.
With a stone worktop the glass ceramic hob can be inserted completely lush.
The recess must there ore be about 7 mm deep.
With wooden worktops the recess must be 6 mm deep. The resultant
protrusion o the glass ceramic hob compared with the worktop o min. 1mm
serves to protect the plastic sur ace o the worktop, preventing a hot saucepan
rom being unintentionally placed on it.
Note!
The glass-ceramic plate, with glued-in sheet metal angles, is 5.5 to 6.5 mm
thick. In order to ensure that it is exactly lush with the stone worktop, the
recess may have to be modi ied accordingly.
Gluing in the hob
Notes
■ In order to avoid damage to the worktop and the hob, it is necessary to glue
the system worktop/hob with a permanent seal so that it is water-proo .
■ The parts to be glued together must be dry and ree rom grease.
■ In order to glue the hobs you will need the resistive primer 101 and the
heat-resistant and moisture-resistant silicon adhesive Pactan 7056
produced by eidelberger Baustofftechnik, which is also available rom
the Küppersbusch spare parts service.
It is absolutely necessary to observe the remarks concerning these
two products. You will find them enclosed processing indications!
There you will also ind a calculation ormula or the hardening o the
silicone adhesive. Do not operate the cooking zone before the
hardening process is over as otherwise the silicone adhesive can be
damaged.
■ Only glue the hob on its outer edges!
■ With stone worktops installation is to be lush, with heat-sensitive worktops
(e.g. wood) the hob must project about 1 mm.
■ Never place the hob with the glass ceramic sur ace unprotected on the
worktop or the loor. Dirt (metal chips, small pieces o stone etc.) can cause
scratches in the sur ace o the glass ceramic hob. Please always place it
on cardboard or a wool rug.
22 EMG 457.0 / EMGF 457.0
Procedure
1. Glue the sealing tape 1 onto the corner o the supporting edge o the
worktop so that no Pactan 2 can be pressed under the hob.
=Only use the sealing tape that is supplied with the hob!
Should you use any other sealing there is no guarantee that the hob will
not sink down a ter installation.
2. Insert the hob without adhesive into the worktop opening and check the
height. I necessary, place the shims provided on the support edge or the
hob at equal distances to adjust the height.
3. Remove the hob again.
4. Use the water-proo primer to pre-treat the outer edges o the hob and the
side cut sur aces o the worktop where they have been glued.
Apply a thick coat o the primer with a brush on highly absorbent sur aces
(e.g. chipboard).
With less absorbent sur aces (e.g. marble or granite) it is su icient to apply
the primer with a elt cloth.
Important! A ter application, the primer must be le t or about 30 minutes.
5. Now insert the hob and align.
6. Finally, ill the gap between the hob and the worktop with Pactan 2.
7. Smooth the joint with a spatula and water containing a little washing-up
liquid.
=Attention! Use sealing tape! Pactan may not be pressed anywhere under
the supporting sur ace, otherwise it will no longer be possible to remove
the hob at a later stage. No liability will be assumed in the case o ailure
to observe these instructions.
Electrical connection
■ Statutory regulations and the connection speci ications issued by the local
power supply company must be strictly observed.
■ Ensure that all live connections are sa ely insulated when installing the oven.
■ The appliance is supplied ready to plug in. It should be connected only to
a properly protected wall socket. Installing and wiring a socket or replacing
the connection cable should only be per ormed by an electrician and in
observance o the relevant regulations.
■ I the socket is inaccessible a ter the installation, sa ety regulations require
that an all-pole isolator with a contact opening o at least 3 mm be used
on the installation side.
■ The wall-socket can be mounted under the working top below the hob or
in a side cupboard in the wall. Do not mount it above the grilling sur ace!
Connection standard mains plug into a wall socket.
