MULTICAL® 6M2, type 6M2-G/H must be connected to  temperture sensor pir type Pt500.
MULTICAL® 6M2, type 6M2-G cn be connected to flow sensor type electronic pick-up or flow sen-
sors with reed switch output.
MULTICAL® 6M2, type 6M2-H must be connected to  flow sensor with 24 V ctive pulse output.
Irrespective of flow sensor type, “pulses/litre” must be identicl in flow sensor nd clcultor.

1 General information
Read this guide before installing the meter.
Kamstrup’s warranty obligations do not apply in case of incorrect mounting.
Plese note tht the following instlltion conditions must be obeyed:
- Pressure stge Kmstrup
sensor pir type DS: PN16
- Pressure stge Kmstrup
stinless steel pockets: PN25/PN40 - depending on type
Note: Plese be wre tht depending on the flow prt it my be recommended to use  flnge
meter t high medium tempertures.

2 Mounting of temperature sensors
The temperture sensors used to mesure inlet nd outlet tempertures respectively re 
mtched sensor pir tht must never be seprted.
Temperture sensors re usully mounted in MULTICAL® 6M2 from the fctory. According to EN
1434 or OIML R75 the cble lengths must not be chnged. If the cble lengths re chnged it might
result in  mesurement error. If necessry, sensors must lwys be replced in pirs.
The sensor mrked with  red sign is to be instlled in the inlet pipe. The other sensor mrked with
 blue sign is to be instlled in the outlet pipe (see prgrph 6 for further informtion).
Note: The sensor cbles must not be pulled. Be wre of this in cse of binding the cbles.
2.1 Pocket temperature sensor pair
Preferbly, sensor pockets must be mounted in
tee-pieces or in 45° lterl Y-pieces. The tip of the
sensor pocket must be plced in the middle of the
flow.
The temperture sensors should rech the bottom
of the pockets. If  short response time is required,
”non-hrdening” het conducting pste cn be
used.
Push the plstic sleeve on the sensor cble into
the sensor pocket nd secure the cble by mens
of the enclosed M4 seling screw. Fsten the
screw with your fingers only. Sel the pockets
using sel nd locking wire.

2.2 Short direct temperature sensor pair
The short direct sensors cn be mounted in specil bll vlves or
in specil tee-pipes, both with threds up to R1 nd built-in M10
union for the short direct sensor.
For mounting in existing instlltions with stndrd ngle tees
Kmstrup A/S cn, furthermore, supply R½ nd R¾ brss nipple
fittings for the short direct sensors.
Fsten the sensor’s brss unions lightly (pprox. 4 Nm) using 
12 mm fce wrench nd sel the sensors with sel nd locking
wire.
2.3 Temperature sensor pair in cooling applications
Temperture sensors in cooling pplictions must be mounted
from below s shown in the figure.

3 Flow sensor
The MULTICAL 6M2 must be used in connection with flow prts comptible with mixed fluids. Flow
prts suitble for mixed fluids re e.g. mechnicl nd mgnetic inductive.
3.1 Mounting of flow sensor

3.2 GWF flow sensor
GWF volume mesuring meters cn withstnd instlltions where ntifreeze gents re present.
The mesuring dynmics re, however, influenced depending on the concentrtion. With n nti-
freeze concentrtion:
1 Below 5 % there is no influence on the mesuring dynmics
2 At 30 % the qi vlue is doubled.
Note: The qi increses between 5-30 %. This degrdtion tkes plce proportionlly.
3 Above 30 % we do not recommend these meters.

3.2.1 Mounting of GWF flow sensor
Single jet meters (Unico®) cn be instlled
in horizontl or verticl pipelines. Horizontl
instlltion is preferred since it offers superior
mesuring dynmics.
Multi jet meters (MTH) cn only be instlled in
horizontl pipelines. The meter type plte must
lwys fce upwrds.
It is recommended to instll shut-off vlves
before nd fter the meter, to fcilitte the in-
stlltion nd removl of the meter for periodic
inspection nd mintennce work.
Py ttention to the direction of flow when in-
stlling the meter. An rrow on the meter body
indictes the direction of flow.
Note: The meter should be protected ginst mechnicl jolts or vibrtion, which could be present
in the instlltion.

4 Mounting of calculator
The MULTICAL® 6M2 clcultor cn be mounted in two different wys:
4.1 Separate/wall mounting
The wll fitting mkes it possible to mount
MULTICAL® 6M2 direct on n even wll. Use the
fitting s  templte to mrk nd drill two 6 mm
holes in the wll.
Nturlly, wll mounting is idel when mounting
in condensing environments.

4.2 Panel mounting
MULTICAL® 6M2 cn be mounted direct in pnels nd control pnels, vi Kmstrup’s pnel mount-
ing kit, No. 66-99-104 (192 x 144 mm).

5 Fluid type
MULTICAL® 6M2 is comptible with the most commonly used ntifreeze liquids, e.g. ethylene gly-
col, propylene glycol, Tyfocor nd Antifrogen.
5.1 Fluid type code
The type of ntifreeze liquid nd the concen-
trtion re freely progrmmble nd thus
MULTICAL® 6M2 cn compenste for the unique
specific het cpcity in ech ppliction,
ensuring  high ccurcy regrdless of the
chemicl composition or the ppliction.
The fluid type code is  4 digit code, which
sttes the fluid type nd concentrtion, for
which the clcultor is progrmmed. The
fluid type code cn be viewed in the clcul-
tor’s disply (reference number 71).

MULTICAL® 6M2 cn be connected to electronic pick up or reed switch units s well s units with
ctive pulses. How to connect these flow sensors nd the temperture sensors is described below.
6.1 Connection of electronic pick up or reed switch units
Flow sensors with reed switch output nd electronic pick up units re connected
to terminls 11–10 nd 11–69 respectively.
The polrity of temperture sensors T1, T2 nd T3 is unimportnt.

6.3 Connection example
Exmple of connection of MULTICAL® 6M2 (type no. 6M2-G) nd  flow sensor with  reed switch.
The pssive contct output of the flow sensor is connected directly to the flow sensor input which
is not glvniclly seprted. This permits  cble length of mx. 10-20 m between flow meter nd
clcultor.

7 Voltage supply of calculator
MULTICAL® 6M2 cn be powered by  built-in lithium bttery or n integrl 24 VAC or 230 VAC
mins module.
The cble from bttery or mins module is mounted in the clcultor’s connector by  two-pole
plug.
7.1 Battery supply
MULTICAL® 6M2 is connected to  lithium bttery, D-cell. The bttery is mrked with instlltion
yer, e.g. 2015, s well s production dte.
Optiml bttery lifetime is obtined by keeping the bttery temperture below 30 °C.
The voltge of  lithium bttery is lmost constnt throughout the lifetime of the bttery (pprox.
3.65 V). Therefore, it is not possible to determine the remining cpcity of the bttery by mesur-
ing the voltge.
The bttery cnnot nd must not be chrged nd must not be short-circuited for more thn 2 sec.
Used btteries must be hnded in for pproved destruction, e.g. t Kmstrup A/S.
7.2 Mains modules
The modules re protection clss II. They re connected by mens of  two-wire cble (without
ground) through the cble entry of the clcultor plced in the right side of the connecting bse.
Use connecting cble with 5-10 mm outer dimeter nd ensure correct stripping s well s correct
mounting of cble relief.
Mx. permitted fuse: 6 A.
Ntionl regultions for electric instlltions must be observed.

8 Testing of function
Crry out n opertionl check when the energy meter hs been fully mounted. Open thermo reg-
ultors nd vlves to estblish flow through the system. Activte the min key of MULTICAL® 6M2
nd check tht the displyed vlues for tempertures nd flow re relevnt vlues.
9 Information codes ”INFO”
MULTICAL® 6M2 constntly monitors  number of importnt functions. In cse of  serious error in
mesuring system or instlltion, ”INFO” is displyed nd n info-code cn be red by ctivting
the min key until the mesuring unit sys ”INFO”. The info code is only displyed when the error is
present.

10.2 Module description
10.2.1 2 pulse outputs for CE and CV, type 602-0C
This top module hs two configurble pulse outputs, which re suitble for volume nd energy
pulses for het meters, cooling meters nd combined het/cooling meters.
The pulse resolution follows the disply (determined by the CCC-code). E.g. CCC=010 (qp0,6...1,5):
1 pulse/0.1 kWh nd 1 pulse/0.001 m³.
The pulse outputs re optoisolted nd withstnd 30 VDC nd 10 mA. Normlly energy (CE) is con-
nected to 16-17 nd volume (CV) to 18-19, but other combintions cn be selected by mens of the
PC progrm METERTOOL, which is lso used for selecting the pulse t either 32 or 100 ms.
10.2.2 M-Bus, type 67-00-20 (rev. B1 or higher)
M-Bus cn be mounted in str, ring or bus topology. Up to 250 meter points cn be connected
depending on the M-Bus Mster’s power supply nd the totl cble resistnce.

The M-Bus network is connected to terminls
24 nd 25. The polrity is unimportnt.
M-Bus comes with pulse inputs.
10.2.3 Lon Works, type 67-00-24 (rev. A1 or higher)
The LON module is used for trnsfer of dt from MULTICAL® 6M2 either for dt reding or for d-
justment purposes vi the LON bus, which is idel for i.e. climte control nd building utomtion.
Dt is communicted t  high speed which mkes it possible to connect mny pplictions to
the sme LON network.
Cbling between the LON module nd the other LON-nodes is mde with  stndrd twisted pir
cble. The length cn be up to 2700 m using bus topology or 500 m using free topology. The LON
module is built up s  seprte network node with neuron chip, memory, trnsceiver nd input/
output circuit. The module requires externl supply (24 VAC /230 VAC) of MULTICAL® 6M2, bttery
supply is not possible.
The LON module collects new dt from MULTICAL® 6M2 in  cycle which secures tht ll dt re
updted every 30 seconds.
10.2.4 BACnet®, type 67-00-66 (rev. J1 or higher)
The BACnet® module communictes with BACnet® on MS/TP vi RS-485 s  mster/slve or
slve device.
The BACnet® module trnsfers  number of both ctul dt nd ccumulted dt. Furthermore,
info codes cn be trnsmitted to the BACnet® Controller. The two pulse inputs llow connection
nd reding of two dditionl meters for e.g. wter nd electricity with pulse output.
10.2.5 Modbus, type 67-00-67 (rev. B1 or higher)
The Modbus bse module for MULTICAL® 6M2 ensures simple integrtion from Kmstrup’s het,
cooling nd wter meters into  Modbus bsed system. The Modbus module communictes s
n RTU (Remote Terminl Unit) slve device on RS-485. The Modbus module trnsfers  number
of both ctul dt nd ccumulted dt. The RS-485 port of the Modbus module is glvniclly
seprted from the meter’s voltge potentil, thereby improving the security for smooth oper-
tions. At the sme time, the risk of influencing the meter due to influences of the RS-485 port is
reduced to  minimum.

11 Setup via front keys
Dte, time nd primry M-Bus ddress cn be djusted by mens of the front keys on the clcul-
tor’s front.
1 In the disply you select the reding you wnt to chnge
2 Lift off the clcultor top
3 Wit until the meter hs shut down (up to 2.5 minutes). Do not press ny keys
4 While remounting the clcultor top, keep the min key ctivted for pprox. 8 seconds.
5 The setup menu is now ctive.
Hving ctivted the setup menu the reding you wnt to
chnge is displyed with the rightmost digit flshing:
(in the below exmple, the ”Dte” hs been selected):
The vlue of the flshing digit cn be chnged by pressing the sub-key .
The digit is incresed by one ech time the key is pressed, nd pssing 9 you strt from 0:
When pressing the min-key the next digit to the right will be flshing:
The ctive digit flshes nd this digit cn now be chnged by pressing the sub-key . It is possi-
ble to return to the first digit on the right by mens of the min key .
When the vlue of the reding hs been chnged you quit by pressing the min key continu-
ously for pprox. 10 seconds.
It should be checked whether the vlue is vlid for the reding in question. If so, the vlue is sved
nd n “OK” symbol is displyed. If not, the old vlue is mintined, no ”OK” symbol ppers, nd
the disply reverts to legl reding.

User guide Energy Measurement MULTICAL® 6M2 functions in the following wy: The flow sensor registers the mount of flow circulting through the system in m3(cubic
metres). The temperature sensors plced in inlet nd outlet pipes, register the cooling or heting, i.e. the difference between input nd output tempertures. MULTICAL® 6M2 clcultes consumed energy bsed on volume of the ntifreeze liquid nd temperture difference. Readings When the min key is ctivted,  new reding ppers.
The sub-key displys historicl redings nd verge vlues.
Four minutes fter the ltest ctivtion of the min key the meter utomticlly switches to consumed energy.

Consumed energy in kWh, MWh or GJ. Latest target date.
Energy count on latest target date followed by energy count on last year’s target date. Followed by monthly counts.
