Energy metering
MULTICAL® 801 functions in the following wy:
The flow sensor registrtes how mny m³ (cubic metres) of district heting
wter re circulting through the heting system.
The temperature sensors, plced in inlet nd outlet flow pipes, register
cooling, i.e. the difference between the input nd output tempertures.
MULTICAL® 801 clcultes the consumed mount of energy bsed on the
district heting wter volume nd cooling.
Readings in the display
When the upper front key is ctivted,  new reding ppers.
The lower front key is used to show historicl redings nd verge
vlues.
4 minutes fter the front key hs been ctivted reding of consumed
energy will utomticlly pper.

Maintenance and repair
The het supplier is llowed to chnge communiction module, bck-up
bttery, clcultor, temperture sensor pir nd flow sensor. Clcultor,
temperture sensor pir nd flow sensor re seprtely verified nd cn,
therefore, be seprtely exchnched. All repirs require  following re-
verifiction in n ccredited lbortory.
MULTICAL® 801, type 67-G/L must be connected to temperture sensors type
Pt500.
MULTICAL® 801, type 67-F/K must be connected to temperture sensors type
Pt100.
MULTICAL® 801 cn be connected to flow sensor type ULTRAFLOW®,
electronic pick-up unit, flow sensor with reed switch output or  flow sensor
with 24 V ctive pulse output.
Irrespective of flow sensor type, ”pulses/litres” must be identicl in flow
sensor nd clcultor.

1 General information
Please read this guide before installing the energy meter.
If the meter is installed incorrectly, Kamstrup’s warranty obligations
will no longer apply.
Plese note tht the following instlltion conditions must be obeyed:
- Pressure stge ULTRAFLOW®: PN16/PN25/PN40, see mrking. Mrking
of flow prt does not cover included
ccessories.
- Pressure stge Kmstrup
sensor set type DS: PN16
- Pressure stge Kmstrup
pocket sensors type PL: PN25/PN40 - depending on type
If the medium temperture exceeds 90 °C we recommend using flnge
meters.
Plese mke sure tht MULTICAL® 801 is connected to correct voltge, either
230 VAC or 24 VAC. See the mrking t terminls 27 nd 28 t the bottom
left.
MULTICAL® 801 must be seled with sel nd wire or  seling lbel fter
mounting.

2 Mounting of temperature sensors
The temperture sensors used for mesuring forwrd nd return
tempertures respectively, constitute  mtched sensor pir, which must
never be seprted. Temperture sensors re usully mounted in the
clcultor from the fctory. According to EN 1434/OIML R75 the cble length
must not be chnged. Should replcement be necessry, both sensors must
be replced.
The sensor mrked with  red sign is to be instlled in the flow pipe. The
other sensor, mrked with  blue sign, is to be instlled in the return pipe. For
mounting in the clcultor, see the prgrph ”Electricl connection”.
Note: The sensor cbles must neither be exposed to jerking nor pulling.
Plese be wre of this when binding the cbles, nd be creful not to
pull the binders unnecessrily tight s this my dmge the cbles.
Plese lso note tht temperture sensors must be mounted from
below in cooling or het/cooling instlltions.
2.1 Direct sensors
The short, direct sensors up to DN25
cn be mounted in specil bll
vlves with built-in M 10 socket for
the short direct sensor. They cn
lso be mounted in instlltions
with stndrd ngle tee-pipes.
Kmstrup supply R½ nd R¾ brss
nipples, which fit our short, direct
sensor. Mke sure tht the tip of
the temperture sensor reches
t lest the center of the flow pipe.
The short direct sensor cn lso be
direct mounted in ll Kmstrup flow
sensors with G¾B, G1B, G5/4B nd
G2 thred on the meter cse. Fsten
the sensors’ brss unions lightly
(pprox. 4 Nm) using  12 mm fce
wrench nd sel the sensors with
sel nd locking wire.

2.2 Pocket sensors
The sensor pockets cn be
mounted in e.g.  welding sleeve
or in  45° lterl Y-piece. The tip
of the sensor pocket must t lest
rech the center of the flow pipe.
Push the temperture sensors
s deep s possible into the
pockets. If  short response time is
required, “nonhrdening” thermlly
conductive pste cn be used. Push
the plstic sleeve on the sensor
cble into the sensor pocket nd
secure the cble by mens of the
enclosed M4 seling screw. Fsten
the screw with your fingers only.
Sel the pockets using sel nd
locking wire.
3 Mounting of flow sensor
Prior to instlltion of the flow sensor, the system should be flushed nd
protection plugs/plstic diphrgms removed from the flow sensor.
Correct flow sensor position (inlet or outlet pipe) ppers from the front lbel
of the MULTICAL® 801. The flow direction is indicted by n rrow on the flow
sensor.

3.1 Mounting of couplings and short direct sensor mounted in
ULTRAFLOW® flow part
The short direct sensor from
Kmstrup cn only be mounted
in PN16 instlltions. The blind plug
mounted in the ULTRAFLOW® cn be
used in connection with both PN16
nd PN25.
The flow meter cn be used in both
PN16 nd PN25 nd cn be supplied
mrked either PN16 or PN25 s
desired.
Fittings, if supplied, cn only
be used for PN16. For PN25
instlltions, fittings suitble for
PN25 should be used.
In connection with G¾x110 mm and
G1x110 mm it shall be checked that
the thread run-out is sufficient. See
the figures to the right.

Couplings nd gskets re mounted s shown in the bove figures.
Stright inlet: ULTRAFLOW® requires neither stright inlet nor stright outlet
to meet the Mesuring Instruments Directive (MID) 2004/22/ EC nd EN
1434:2007. A stright inlet section will only be necessry in cse of hevy
flow disturbnces before the meter. We recommend to follow the guidelines
of CEN CR 13582.

In order to prevent cvittion the bck pressure (the pressure t the flow
sensor outlet) t ULTRAFLOW® must be min. 1.5 br t qpnd min. 2.5 br t
qs. This pplies to tempertures up to pprox. 80 °C. ULTRAFLOW® must not
be exposed to lower pressure thn the mbient pressure (vcuum).

5 Power supply
MULTICAL® 801 is power supplied by 24 VAC or 230 VAC.
5.1 Backup battery
MULTICAL® 801 includes  bckup bttery, which ensures tht ll relevnt
mesurements continue during power filure.
The bttery ought to be replced fter 10 yers’ norml opertion, or fter 1
yer without mins connection.
The type number of the bckup bttery is 66-99-619.
The voltge of  lithium bttery is lmost constnt throughout the whole
lifetime of the bttery (pprox. 3.65 V). Therefore, it is not possible to
determine the remining cpcity by mesuring the voltge.
The bttery cnnot nd must not be chrged nd must not be short-
circuited. Used btteries must be hnded in for pproved destruction, e.g. t
Kmstrup.
6 Operational check
Crry out n opertionl check when the energy meter hs been fully
mounted. Open thermo-regultors nd cocks in order to estblish  wter
flow through the heting system. Activte the upper push button on the
MULTICAL® 801 nd check tht the disply vlues for temperture nd wter
flow re relible.

7 Electrical connection
The temperture sensors re

8 Data modules
8.1 GSM/GPRS module (GSM6H), type 67-0Z
The GSM/GPRS module functions s trnsprent communiction pth
between reding softwre nd MULTICAL® 801 nd is used for dt reding.
The module includes n externl dul-bnd GSM ntenn which must lwys
be used. The module itself includes  line of light emitting diodes indicting
signl strength which re very useful during instlltion.
Further detils bout the GSM/GPRS module pper from dt sheet

8.2 3G GSM/GPRS module (GSM8H), type 67-0U
Like GSM6H this module functions s trnsprent communiction pth
between reding softwre nd MULTICAL® 801 nd is used for dt reding.
However, this module supports both 2G (GSM/GPRS) nd 3G (UMTS) which
mkes it pplicble in res with 3G coverge only.
The module requires n externl Antenn, which covers both 900 MHz, 1800
MHz nd 2100 MHz.
The module itself is fitted with  line of light emitting diodes indicting signl
strength which re very useful during instlltion. Furthermore, it is indicted
whether the module is connected to  2G or  3G network. Additionl

8.3 Ethernet/IP module (IP201), type 67-0T
The IP module functions s trnsprent communiction between reding
softwre nd MULTICAL® 801 nd is used for dt reding. The module
supports both dynmic nd sttic ddressing. This is specified in the order
or selected during subsequent configurtion. The module hs no built-in
security nd must, therefore, lwys be used in connection with  firewll or
NAT.

The module hs connection possibility for two pressure trnsmitters on
terminls 57, 58 nd 59 nd cn be djusted for current reding or pressure
rnge 6, 10 or 16 br.
The module is prepred for remote reding, dt from meter/module being
trnsferred to the system softwre vi the externl GSM/GPRS modem
connected on terminls 62, 63 nd 64.
Furthermore, the module hs two extr pulse inputs, VA nd VB.
The module must be powered by 24 VAC.
8.7 Lon Works, type 67-00-24/67-0Y

8.8 Wireless M-Bus, type 67-00-30/67-00-31/67-00-35/67-00-38
The rdio module hs been designed to form prt of the hnd-held Wireless
M-Bus Reder systems of Kmstrup A/S t license-free rdio frequency (868
MHz).
The module fulfils the C-mode specifictions of prEN13757-4 nd cn thus
form prt of other systems using Wireless M-Bus C-mode communiction.
The rdio module comes with internl ntenn nd externl ntenn
connection s well s two pulse inputs, which re identicl with the
previously described pulse inputs.
The Wireless M-Bus rdio trnsmitter is switched off on disptch from the
fctory. It turns on utomticlly when one litre of wter hs run through the
meter. The rdio trnsmitter cn lso be switched on by mens of  forced
dil-up to the meter (keep both front keys pressed for pprox. 5 s. until CALL
is displyed).
8.9 ZigBee® + pulse inputs, type 67-00-60
The ZigBee® module is used for wireless communiction nd cn form prt
of  remote reding system, in which severl units cn communicte with
ech other.
The pulse inputs of this module re identicl with the previously described
pulse inputs.
The ZigBee® module requires mins supply.

8.10 Metasys N2 + pulse inputs, type 67-00-62
The N2 module is used for dt communiction between meter nd N2
Mster in  Johnson Controls System.
The RS485 port is glvniclly seprted from the meter.
The pulse inputs of this module re identicl with the previously described
pulse inputs.
The N2 module requires mins supply.
8.11 SIOX module (Auto detect Baud rate), type 67-00-64/67-0M
SIOX is used for dt reding of smll nd medium-sized groups of het
meters vi cble, the dt redings being presented by the min system,
e.g. MCom, Fix or Telefrng. Further informtion on these systems cn be
ordered from the supplier in question. Furthermore,  configurtion tool is
vilble from Telefrng.
The two-wire seril SIOX bus connection is optoisolted from the meter
nd is connected without regrd to polrity (i.e. the polrity is unimportnt).
The module is powered by the SIOX bus. Communiction speed between
