is a risk of electrical shock or damage to this unit or related products.
• Tips are uniquely designed. If a Tip does not fit in the appropriate socket, this
indicates that a mismatch has occurred. Please refer to the Compatibility List
on page 9, to select the correct Tip for your notebook model. Do not force the
Tip into the notebook, or it can damage the Adapter and notebook.

The new Kensington 70 Watt DC Power Adapter for your Apple Notebook is a
highly efficient power adapter for notebook computers. With the Adapter,
you ha e the flexibility of powering and charging your notebook or digital
de ice from a cigarette lighter or an airline Empower®outlet.
The Adapter powers and charges both the newest notebooks and older
legacy computers.
The Adapter deli ers the correct amount of power for each notebook or digital
de ice through a patented, interchangeable tip called SmartTip.™Refer to the
compatibility list, on page 9, to determine which Tip you need for your de ice.
We ha e included notebook Tips in this package. You may also purchase
additional Tips to power and charge other non-Apple digital de ices such as
cell phones, MP3 music players, DVD players, portable gaming de ices, digital
cameras, and camcorders, etc. Visit www.kensington. om for more information.
To simultaneously power and charge your notebook and other digital de ices
use our Dual Charging Cable for Kensington Power Adapter—sold separately.

• In order to disperse the heat generated while operating your Adapter, keep
it well entilated. While in use, maintain se eral inches around the top and
sides of the Adapter. Ne er operate your Adapter inside a closed or confined
space such as a glo e compartment, console, or in the airline seat pocket.
• When operating your Adapter, regularly check that the input and output
power cables are firmly connected. Loose power cables can generate harmful
heat which can damage your Adapter or mobile electronic digital de ice.
• A oid operating your Adapter near a heat source, heat ent, or in direct
sunlight. Your Adapter should be used in temperatures between 50–80°F.
• Do not operate your Adapter near flammable materials or any locations
which can accumulate flammable fumes.
• Keep your Adapter dry. Do not expose the Adapter to water, rain, or snow;
if it gets wet or is exposed to moisture, wipe it dry immediately.
• If damage or wear to any component of your Adapter is obser ed, do not use
your Adapter and ne er attempt to repair it yourself. Return it to the place of
purchase or ha e it repaired by a qualified technician.
• Do not modify or tamper with your Adapter’s external or internal compo-
nents. Doing so could result in serious or fatal injury or property damage.

than 70 Watts of peak input power.

• To a oid potential property damage, disconnect input power to your Adapter
when it is not in use. Do not lea e your Adapter or any de ice operating

placing items on or around your Adapter during operation.

This Adapter has a shorter input cable that connects to a cigarette lighter
socket. The longer cable connects to your notebook or digital de ice.

Sele ting the Proper Tip
Make sure you select the correct Tip for your de ice by re iewing the
compatibility list below:

J3 — iPod
N16 — G3 iBooks and PowerBooks or earlier
N23 — G4 iBooks and PowerBooks
Note: Some late G3 models, released shortly before the G4 models, may require
Tip N23. Select the Tip that best fits your computer.
WARNING: Choosing the wrong Tip may damage your notebook or digital devi e or

Using your Adapter
Once connected, your battery will automatically charge regardless of whether
your notebook or digital de ice is turned on or off.
NOTE: We re ommend that you use the Adapter only with batteries (for your
notebook and digital devi e) that meet or ex eed the original manufa turer’s
spe ifi ations.
CAUTION: Like the power adapter that ame with your notebook, the Adapter may
get warm to the tou h during use. This is normal. Avoid pla ing the Adapter in dire t
sunlight or next to heat sensitive materials.

WARNING: A igarette lighter ould be hot and burn your skin or flammable
materials. Allow the lighter to ool ompletely before storing it.
1. Remo e the ehicle’s cigarette lighter from its socket.
2. Insert your Adapter’s auto connector into the cigarette lighter socket.
3. If power to the cigarette lighter socket is not already on, remo e the Adapter
from the socket and start the ehicle’s engine. Then repeat step 2. The
Adapter’s status light glows when powered.
4. Connect the appropriate Tip to the Adapter output cable and plug it into your
notebook or digital de ice.
The notebook or digital de ice’s battery will start to charge. Turn on and use
your notebook or digital de ice.
NOTE: Using a dirty igarette so ket or auto onne tor might ause your vehi le’s
battery to dis harge a lower voltage in apable of powering your Adapter. If your
Adapter does not turn on, its status light does not glow, unplug it from the igarette
lighter so ket and make sure both the so ket and auto onne tor are lean and dry
before re onne ting.
NOTE: When your vehi le’s engine is off, most vehi le batteries will provide ample
power supply to your Adapter for one to two hours. The a tual length of time is a
fun tion of several variables whi h in lude the age and ondition of the vehi le’s
battery, and the power demand being pla ed on the vehi le’s battery by the
notebook or digital devi e that is being powered.
Getting Conne ted
1. Connect the correct Tip to the Adapter output cord.
2. Insert the Adapter output cord into the de ice’s power socket.
3. Follow the instructions on the following pages to connect to a cigarette
lighter or airline Empower outlet.
Auto Conne tion
The Adapter auto connector can be used in any ehicle with a 12V DC cigarette
lighter socket, such as a car, truck, boat, or an airplane equipped with this type
of power socket.
CAUTION: To prevent power interruption and any negative effe ts on the devi e
or its software, don’t start your vehi le’s engine while the Adapter is onne ted
to the devi e.

Air Conne tion
If the airline that you are tra eling on pro ides a compatible airline
in-seat power source you can use your Adapter to power your notebook
or digital de ice.
1. Remo e the cigarette lighter connector to re eal the airline Empower
connector: hold the tab at the base of the connectors to slide the cigarette
lighter connector off.
2. Insert the Adapter’s Empower connector into the in-seat power socket,
usually found on the arm of your seat or under the seat. The Adapter’s
status light glows when powered.
3. Connect the appropriate Tip to the Adapter output cable and plug it into the
notebook or digital de ice.
The notebook or digital de ice’s battery will start to charge. Turn on and use
your notebook or digital de ice, per airline guidelines.

1-Year Limited Warranty
KENSINGTON TECHNOLOGY GROUP ("KENSINGTON") warrants the PRODUCT 33194
70 Watt DC Power Adapter for Apple Notebook against defects in material and work-
manship under normal use and ser ice for one year from the original date of purchase.
KENSINGTON, at its option, shall repair or replace the defecti e unit co ered by this
warranty. Please retain the dated sales receipt as e idence of the date of purchase. You
will need it for any warranty ser ice. In order to keep this warranty in effect, the product
must ha e been handled and used as prescribed in the instructions accompanying this
warranty. This warranty does not co er any damage due to accident, misuse, abuse,
or negligence.
DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTY
The limited warranty described herein is your sole remedy. To the extent permitted by law,
Kensington disclaims all other implied or express warranties including all warranties of
merchantability and/or fitness for a particular purpose.
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
Except to the extent of repairing or replacing the Adapter as expressly stated in the limited
warranty described herein, Kensington shall not be liable for any damages, whether direct,
indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or otherwise, including lost re -
enues, lost profits, loss of use of software, loss or reco ery of data, rental of replacement
equipment, downtime, damage to property, and third-party claims, arising out of any
theory of reco ery, including statutory, contract or tort. Notwithstanding the term of any
limited or implied warranty, or in the e ent that any limited warranty fails of its essential
purpose, in no e ent will Kensington’s entire liability exceed the purchase price of this
product. Some states and pro inces do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or
consequential damages so the abo e limitations or exclusions may not apply to you. This
limited warranty gi es you specific legal rights, and you may also ha e other rights which

for a Class B digital de ice, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed
to pro ide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation.
This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed
and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio
communications.
Howe er, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation.
If this equipment causes harmful interference to radio or tele ision reception, which can be
