The new Kensington 70 Watt AC/DC Power Adapter for your Apple Notebook is
a highly efficient power adapter for notebook computers. With the Adapter,
you ha e the flexibility of powering and charging your notebook or digital
de ice from any standard home/office wall outlet, cigarette lighter or airline
Empower®outlet.
The Adapter powers and charges both the newest notebooks and older legacy
computers. And it is compatible with the following connections:
• Any 100–120 Volt or 200–240 Volt 50/60Hz AC wall outlet.
• 12 Volt, negati e-grounded, DC cigarette lighter.
• Airline EmPower outlet
The Adapter deli ers the correct amount of power for each notebook or digital
de ice through a patented, interchangeable tip called SmartTip.™We ha e
included notebook Tips in this package. You may also purchase additional Tips
to power and charge other non-Apple digital de ices such as cell phones, MP3
music players, DVD players, portable gaming de ices, digital cameras, and

• In order to disperse the heat generated while operating your Adapter, keep
it well entilated. While in use, maintain se eral inches around the top and
sides of the Adapter. Ne er operate your Adapter inside a closed or confined
space such as a glo e compartment, console, or in the airline seat pocket.
• When operating your Adapter, regularly check that the input and output
power cables are firmly connected. Loose power cables can generate harmful
heat which can damage your Adapter or mobile electronic digital de ice.
• A oid operating your Adapter near a heat source, heat ent, or in direct
sunlight. Your Adapter should be used in temperatures between 50–80°F.
• Do not operate your Adapter near flammable materials or any locations
which can accumulate flammable fumes.
• If you are running your ehicle’s engine while stationary to power your
mobile electronic digital de ice that you ha e connected to your Adapter, do
so only in a well entilated area, away from other enclosed areas. Automoti e
ehicles emit carbon monoxide which can cause death if the ehicle’s engine
is running in a garage or enclosed area, or near other enclosed areas.
• Keep your Adapter dry. Do not expose the Adapter to water, rain, or snow;
if it gets wet or is exposed to moisture, wipe it dry immediately.
• If damage or wear to any component of your Adapter is obser ed, do not use
your Adapter and ne er attempt to repair it yourself. Return it to the place of
purchase or ha e it repaired by a qualified technician.
• Do not modify or tamper with your Adapter’s external or internal compo-
nents. Doing so could result in serious or fatal injury or property damage.
It may also in alidate your Adapter’s warranty.
General: Safety Information
Warnin : Failure to read and follow the safety instructions in this User Manual
before using and installing your Adapter could result in serious or fatal injury
or property damage.
• Your Adapter is not a toy. Keep it away from children. Make sure that all
persons who operate your Adapter read and follow this User Manual.
• Your Adapter should only be used with Kensington appro ed accessories.
Using your Adapter with non-appro ed accessories may result in serious
or fatal injury or property damage.
• Ne er use your Adapter with a multi-output cigarette plug splitter or exten-
der cable. These de ices can cause your Adapter’s cigarette input cable to
become ery hot and may result in serious or fatal injury or property damage.
• Ne er attempt to use your Adapter to power any de ice that requires more
than 70 Watts of peak input power.
• Your Adapter is suitable only for use with mobile electronic digital de ices.
Using your Adapter with other electronic de ices may result in serious or
fatal injury or property damage.
• To a oid potential property damage, disconnect input power to your Adapter
when it is not in use. Do not lea e your Adapter or any de ice operating
unattended in a ehicle.
• Your Adapter may become hot during operation. To pre ent serious or fatal
injury or property damage pro ide adequate entilation and refrain from
placing items on or around your Adapter during operation.

This Adapter has two shorter input cables. One that connects to a cigarette
lighter socket and one that connects to an AC outlet. The longer cable connects
to your notebook or digital de ice.
Usin your Adapter
Once connected, your battery will automatically charge regardless of whether
your notebook or digital de ice is turned on or off.
NOTE: We recommend that you use the Adapter only with batteries (for your
notebook and di ital device) that meet or exceed the ori inal manufacturer’s
specifications.
CAUTION: Like the power adapter that ori inally came with your notebook, the
Adapter may et warm to the touch durin use. This is normal. Avoid placin
the Adapter in direct sunli ht or next to heat sensitive materials.

Gettin Connected
1. Connect the correct Tip to the Adapter output cord.
2. Insert the Adapter output cord into the de ice’s power socket.
3. Follow the instructions on the following pages to connect to an AC wall
outlet, cigarette lighter or an airline Empower outlet.
Selectin the Proper Tip
Make sure you select the correct Tip for your de ice by re iewing the
compatibility list below:
Tip Label
J3 — iPod
N16 — G3 iBooks and PowerBooks or earlier
N23 — G4 iBooks and PowerBooks
Note: Some late G3 models, released shortly before the G4 models, may require
Tip N23. Select the Tip that best fits your computer.
WARNING: Choosin the wron Tip may dama e your notebook or di ital device or
cause it to malfunction.

WARNING: Each AC plu only functions correctly with its desi nated power source.
The US plu (110/120V) will work when connected to a 110/120V AC power source;
the other plu styles are desi ned for use with particular 220/240V AC power
sources. Usin the wron plu will cause the Adapter to malfunction and may
render the plu unusable.

AC Wall Socket Connection
Use the AC wall socket connection anywhere a 100–120 olt or 200–240 olt
50/60Hz AC power source is a ailable.
1. Connect the Tip to the Adapter output cable and your notebook or digital
de ice, if you ha en’t done so already
2. Connect the AC wall socket input cable to the Adapter
3. Plug the AC connector into a wall outlet or power strip
When the Adapter has power, its status light glows. Your notebook or digital
de ices’ battery is now charging. Your notebook or digital de ice is now powered.
Auto Connection
The Adapter’s auto connector can be used in any ehicle with a 12V DC
cigarette lighter socket, such as a car, truck, boat, or an airplane equipped with
this type of power socket. Make sure both the auto connector and the cigarette
lighter socket are clean and dry.
CAUTION: To prevent power interruption and any ne ative effects on the device
or its software, don’t start your vehicle’s en ine while the Adapter is connected
to the device.
WARNING: Never jump start your vehicle with your Adapter connected to the
vehicle’s ci arette li hter socket. Many jump start systems use extremely hi h
volta es that can dama e your Adapter circuitry.

WARNING: A ci arette li hter could be hot and burn your skin or flammable
materials. Allow the li hter to cool completely before storin it.
1. Remo e the ehicle’s cigarette lighter from its socket.
2. Insert your Adapter’s auto connector into the cigarette lighter socket.
3. If power to the cigarette lighter socket is not already on, remo e the
Adapter from the socket and start the ehicle’s engine. Then repeat step 2.
The Adapter’s status light glows when powered.
4. Connect the appropriate Tip to the Adapter output cable and plug it into your
notebook or digital de ice.
The notebook or digital de ice’s battery will start to charge. Turn on and use
your notebook or digital de ice.
NOTE: Usin a dirty ci arette socket or auto connector mi ht cause your vehicle’s
battery to dischar e a lower volta e incapable of powerin your Adapter. If your
Adapter does not turn on, its status li ht does not low, unplu it from the ci arette
li hter socket and make sure both the socket and auto connector are clean and dry
before reconnectin .
NOTE: When your vehicle’s en ine is off, most vehicle batteries will provide ample
power supply to your Adapter for one to two hours. The actual len th of time is a
function of several variables which include the a e and condition of the vehicle’s
battery, and the power demand bein placed on the vehicle’s battery by the
notebook or di ital device that is bein powered.

Air Connection
If the airline that you are tra eling on pro ides a compatible airline
in-seat power source you can use your Adapter to power your notebook
or digital de ice.
1. Remo e the cigarette lighter connector to re eal the airline Empower
connector: hold the tab at the base of the connectors to slide the cigarette
lighter connector off.
2. Insert the Adapter’s Empower connector into the in-seat power socket,
usually found on the arm of your seat or under the seat. The Adapter’s
status light glows when powered.
3. Connect the appropriate Tip to the Adapter output cable and plug
it into the notebook or digital de ice.
The notebook or digital de ice’s battery will start to charge. Turn on and use
your notebook or digital de ice, per airline guidelines.

1-Year Limited Warranty
KENSINGTON TECHNOLOGY GROUP (“KENSINGTON”) warrants the PRODUCT 33335 AC/DC
Power Adapter for Apple Notebook against defects in material and workmanship under
normal use and ser ice for one year from the original date of purchase. KENSINGTON, at its
option, shall repair or replace the defecti e unit co ered by this warranty. Please retain the
dated sales receipt as e idence of the date of purchase. You will need it for any warranty
ser ice. In order to keep this warranty in effect, the product must ha e been handled and
used as prescribed in the instructions accompanying this warranty. This warranty does
not co er any damage due to accident, misuse, abuse, or negligence.
DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTY
The limited warranty described herein is your sole remedy. To the extent permitted by law,
Kensington disclaims all other implied or express warranties of merchantability and/or
