A. the TH-22AT can be cloned from another TH-22AT using RF. No wires are required. See

A. Can the TH-22AT be used in channel display?
A. The TH-22AT can be setup for channel display allowing only the channel to be changed.
No other information is accessible.
Q. How do I reset the TH-22AT
A. A partial reset is to turn off the radio, press and hold UFO while turning the radio on. For a
full resent turn off the radio, press and hold F while turning the radio on

A. What is the frequency range of the receiver?

A. Can the TH-G71A be PC programmed?
Q. Yes, the TH-G71A can be programmed using the PG-4P cable. The software for
uploading/downloading channel information. It is free on our web page at
www.kenwood.net
A. My speaker microphone does not work on the TH-G71A?
A. Make sure that menu 15 (TC) transceiver control is turned off.
A. When using the MCP-G71 software I get a time out error?
A. Make sure that the PG-4P cable is connected to COM 1 or COM 2. If your computer uses a
DB-9 for COM 1 OR COM 2, you will need to use an adapter from the PG-4P to your
COM Port. Use the Radio Shack adapter #26-269. Menu 15 must be turned on before
uploading downloading information from the radio.
Q. How do you reset partial/reset?
A. Partial reset with radio off hold VFO key. Turn radio on, display will show VFRST? Push
VFO again for full reset. With the radio off hold F key turn radio on display will show
ALRST, push F again
Q. Is the TH-G71A capable of Mars/Cap?

A. Yes, but the information will only be furnished with a copy of your Mars/Cap license.

TM-642/TM-742 QUICK START
1. Push the VFO button

4. Push the TONE button, so the T appears in the display
5. Selecting tone/encode, push the F button for more than two seconds, then push TONE. The
PL/Encode number will be displayed (example 88.5). Turn the main tuning knob to the desired
PL, then push the F button to go back to the normal display.
6. Storing all this information into MEMORY, push the F button and release it the numbers for
memory will appear in the right of the display. Turn the main tuning knob to the desired
Memory of your choice, then push MR button this will store all the information into the memory
you choose

5. Push the F key, then push the T.Sel key, at this time the PL/Encode number will appear
(example 88.5 will be flashing) turn the main tuning knob to select the desired PL/Encode.
6. To store all this information into Memory, push the F Key, and when the memory numbers
appear to the right of the frequency display turn the main tuning knob to the desired
memory of your choice, push the MR key to store the information.
7. To recall that memory just press MR again.
TM-G707A FAQ
Q. Can the TM-G707A do cross band repeat?
A. No, the TM-G707A will not be a cross band repeater with full duplex, because the radio is only
a single IF , and single display read out. The radio is capable of cross band operation. Please look
at page 64 in the instruction manual for more information.
Q. Can it be hooked up to a 9600 BPS modem?
A. Yes, it will do 1200, & 9600 baud
Q. How big is the display?
A. It is the biggest display in any of our mobile radios.
Q. Will it receive both bands at the same time?
A. No, it will only receive one band at a time, because it is single IF single display
Q. What is the receivers frequency range of the TM-G707A?
A. With the receive modification on our web page under RX Mod’s the TM-G707A will
Receive from 118.000- 173.995, 320.000-399.995, 400.000-523.995, 800.000-823.9875,
849.000-865.9875, 894.000-949.9875 MHZ.
Q. Can it be programmed with a PC?
A. Yes, it can be programmed with a PC with the optional PG-4S programming cable, and the
Software can be downloaded from out FTP site on the Kenwood web page.
Q. Does the TM-G707A have good intermodulation rejection?
A. Yes, it has great inter mod rejection, and with the added AIP (Advance Intercept Point) helps
greatly with unwanted signals.
TM-V7A QUICK START
1. Push the VFO key
2. Enter the desired frequency
3. Push the TONE key, until a T shows in the display for repeaters that require PL/Encode
4. Push the F key then SHIFT to select the proper offset + or –
5. Push and hold the F key for at least 2 seconds, it will beep twice, and a F will flash
6. Push the T.SEL key, at this time the PL/Encode number will appear (example 88.5)
Turn the main tuning knob to select the desired PL/Encode.
7. T o store all this information into Memory, push the F key, and when you see the memory
Numbers come up above the frequency display turn the main tuning knob to the desired
Memory of your choice.
8. To recall that memory just push the MR key again

A. Press the REV for 2 seconds the ASC indicator will show, when it blinks simplex communication

A. It is used for data communication, and also for PC programming.
TM-D700A QUICK START
1. Press the VFO Key
2. Enter the desired frequency
3. Press the F key then the Shift key to select your offset – or +
4. For repeaters with a PL/Encode press the Tone key until a T shows in the display
5. Selecting a PL/Encode frequency (example 100.0) , press the F key then press the T.Sel
6. The PL/Encode number will appear in the display flashing, turn the main tuning knob to the
desired PL/Encode, then press OK.
7. Storing this information in memory, press the F key the memory number will be flashing in the
top of the display. Turn the main tuning knob to select desired memory number, then press the
M.IN key to store it.

TM-D700A FAQ
Q. Is the TM-D700A PC programmable?
A. Yes, it is via the RS232 DB-9 connection in the front on the radio. It may be done with a Straight
DB-9 to a DB-9, it can NOT be a null cable.

Q. Does the TM-D700A have a built-in TNC?
A. Yes, it’s a 1200/9600 baud TNC
Q. Will the TM-D700A cross band repeat
A. Yes is it a full duplex cross band repeater
Q. Does the TM-D700A have Sky Command?

A. Well you need to enter the local DX packet cluster frequency, and engage the TNC, when a DX
Spot get posted the DX country (call sign), UTC time, and Frequency will be displayed on the
TM-D700A.
Q. Does the TM-D700A have DCS (Digital Coded Squelch)?
A. Yes, it also has built-in Encoder/Decoder

TS-50S FAQ
Q. How do I connect the TS-50S to a computer?
A. You need 2 optional accessories, 1 – IF-232C interface unit, and 1 – IF-10D interface unit.
Q. How do I change from USB/LSB?
A. Press the F.Lock for more than 2 seconds, press the A/B button until the A indicator appears.
Turn the main tuning knob to Menu 04, and select ULC by using the up, and down buttons. To
exit and go back to the normal display press the F. Lock button again.
Q. How many filters can be installed?
A. One, and it’s the YK-107C 500 KHZ CW filter
Q. Does the TS-50S have a tone/encoder for 10 FM repeaters?
A. Yes, its Menu # 53
Q. Do I need an antenna tuner?
A. No, not if you have the VSWR under 1.5 to 1. There is an optional matching automatic antenna
tuner for the TS-50S , and the model number is AT-50.

TS-570D/S(G) FAQ
Q. Can I add 6 meters to my TS-570D(G)
A. No, they are different radio’s
Q. Why does my TS-570D/S (G) have a * in the display?
A. Because you have gone into the MENU 50, and have turned on the RX Equalizer.
Q. What is the difference between the D, and the D(G)
A. The upgrade consists of replacing the 64 pin CPU, which will add 5 more position on your menu
choices. This is the FIRST time any manufacturer has come out with a newer model, and has
given the opportunity to its customer to upgrade without having to buy a New radio…WOW…
Q. Can I use my TS-570 D/S(G) for QRP use?
A. Yes you sure can, and the power adjustments start at 5 watts and go up to 100 watts in increments
of 5 watts at a time.
Q. How can I upgrade my TS-570D/S?
A. By sending it to Kenwood Service Center East or West only. The upgrade is $125.00 plus
shipping.
Q. Can I mount my TS-570D/S in my car?
A. Yes with the optional MB-430M2 mounting bracket
Q. How do I interface my TS-570D/S to a computer?
A. The back of the TS-570D/S has a RS232 port with a DB-9 connector, you do not have to
Buy any optional external interface units for the TS-570D/S. Also the RCP software for the

straight through DB-9 to DB-9 for computer hook up.

Q. How does my TS-870S interface with a computer?
A. The back of the TS-870S has a RS232 port with a DB-9 connector, you do
not need to buy any optional external interface unit for the TS-870S
It is pretty simple just get a straight through DB-9 to DB-9 for computer hook up.
Q. Can the TS-870S be controlled remotely?
A. Yes it can with Kenwood Sky Command using either TWO TH-79AKSS, or TWO TH-
D7A, or TWO TM-D700A, or ONE TH-D7A, and ONE TM-D700A. Some optional cables are
required for use with the handheld’s, and mobile radio’s.
Q. Does my TS-870S require any optional filters?
A. No it does not require any optional filters. It does all its filtering through the IF DSP in the TS-
870S.
Q. Does the TS-870S have an automatic antenna tuner?
A. Yes, and its will tune 10-160 meters.
Q. What are the connections for hooking up an amplifier?
A. Pin 4 is relay, Pin 2 is Ground, and Pin 6 is ALC
