•Avoidusingacronyms(“Emergency”vs.“ICE”or“In

•Spellwordscompletely;systemwillnotrecognize

•Alwayswaitforthebeepbeforespeakinganycommands.
•WhenusingVRtoplaceacall,speakinanatural,moderate
tone,withclearpronunciation.Thesystemmayhavetrouble
recognizingcommandsifyouspeaktoosoftlyortooloudly.
•Openwindows,sunroof,weather(wind/rain),oranA/Cfan
operatingathigherspeedscaninterferewithVRaccuracy.
•YourVRsystemmayhavedifficultyunderstandingsome
accentsoruncommonnames.
•Pressthetalkbuttonandsay“Help”togetalistofavailable

Pairing or Connecting Your Phone with Bluetooth®
•Select“DeviceConnections”intheinfotainmentdisplay
or“Call”buttononthesteeringwheeltobeginthepairing
processifnophonehaspreviouslybeenpaired.
•Duringthepairingprocess,pleasemakesureyouaccept
allrequestsforphonebookdownloadandfutureauto-
connectiononyourphone.
•Topairasecondphoneorsubsequentphones,reference
themanualsandguidessuppliedwithyourForteassteps
varybyinfotainmentsystem.
•Ifyouexperienceanyissueswithauto-connection,
trythefollowing:
•Rebootyourphone(turnthephoneoffandthenon).
•Updatethephoneoperatingsystemtothemostrecently
releasedversion.
•DeletethephonefromthelistofBluetooth®devices
ontheinfotainmentsystemdisplay1anddeleteKia
devicefromthelistofBluetooth®devicesonyour
phone,andre-pair.
•EnsurethephonehastheBluetooth®featureactivated.
•Ifsomecontactsarenotdownloadingtotheinfotainment
systemdisplay,checktoconfirmthatthecontacthas
beenenteredcorrectlyandthatithasbeenstoredunder
thecategories(HOME,MOBILE,WORK,iPhone®3)thatare
supportedbytheinfotainmentsystemdisplay.Somecontact
categories(MAIN,PAGER,OTHER)maynotbesupported.If
thenumberofcontactsexceedsthemaximumnumberallowed
ontheinfotainmentsystemdisplay,contactswillbepartially
downloaded.Ensurethatonlythe“phonecontactlist”is
selectedforcontactdownloadonyourphone(notsocialmedia
oremailcontactlistsasthesecontactsmaynotdownloadto
theinfotainmentsystemdisplay).

Accessory Mode with a Smart Key*
Withstandard-keyvehicles,youcanturnthekeytotheaccessorymodeandutilizetheelectronic
accessorieswithoutstartingthevehicle.ThisisstillpossiblewithSmartKey-equippedvehicles.
Todothis,enterthevehiclewiththeSmartKeyfobinyourpossessionandpushtheENGINE
START/STOPbutton*onetimewithoutpressingthebrakepedal.Thiswillputthevehiclein
accessorymodeandACCwillilluminateAMBER.
IftheENGINESTART/STOPbuttonisintheACCpositionformorethan1hour,thebuttonis
turnedoffautomaticallytohelppreventbatterydischarge.
Smart Trunk*
ForvehiclesequippedwithaSmartKey,*whentheSmartKeyfobisinyourpossessionand
youarewithincloseproximitytothebackofthevehicle,thehazardwarninglightswillblink
andachimewillsoundforabout3secondstoalertthattheSmartTrunkisabouttoopen.
Thenthealertsystemwillblinkandchime2additionaltimesbeforeopeningtheSmartTrunk.
TheSmartTrunkfeatureisOFFbydefault.ToenabletheSmartTrunk,gotoUserSettings
intheLCDInstrumentClustermodes.
ToopentheSmartTrunkmanually,pressandholdthetrunkbutton Aorusethereleasebutton
undertherearviewcamerauntilthetrunkopens.
IfyoupressedtheunlockbuttononyourSmartKey(thisdoesnotopentheTrunk),please
besuretopressthelockbuttonontheSmartKeybeforewalkingawaytoensureyourentire
vehicleislockedagain.
TheSmartTrunkfunctioncanbedeactivatedbypressinganybuttonontheSmartKeyduring
theDetectandAlertstage.
Smart Key* Interference
TheSmartKeyincorporatesmanyconvenientfeaturesthatcanimprovetheaccesstoandstartingofyourvehicle.However,
therecanbesomecaseswhereradiofrequencyinterferencefromamobilephoneplacedincloseproximitytotheSmartKey,
oraphone
heldataverycloseproximitytothedoorhandlewhiletheSmartKeyisstoredinapocketorpursefartheraway,
cancausecommunicationerrors.
Whiledrivingthevehicle,donotplacetheSmartKeyontopofaphoneornexttoeachotherinthesamecompartment.Ifyouare
experiencinganyconcernsrelatedtotheSmartKeyoperation,besuretocheckthatthekeyfobisnotnearanyothersourcethat
transmitsaradiofrequencyoranotherSmartKeybeforesuspectingaconcernwiththeSmartKeyitself.

Smart Cruise Control (SCC) with Stop and Go*7
SCCisdesignedtomaintainapredetermineddistancefromvehiclesdetectedaheadby
automaticallyadjustingthedrivingspeedasneeded.WithSCConandactivated,andthe
vehicledistanceset,thesystemcansloworbringthevehicletoacompletestopwhenslowing
orstoppedtrafficisdetectedahead.
Whenstoppedtrafficaheadstartstomoveforward,SCCre-engages.However,ifthevehicle
aheadstopsformorethan3seconds,SCCmustbere-engagedbydepressingtheaccelerator
pedaloroperatingthe[+],[-]orBswitch.
To engage SCC and set/adjust the speed:
•PresstheDrivingAssistbutton AtoturnthesystemONandsettothecurrentspeed.The
CRUISEindicator,setspeed,andvehicledistancewillilluminateontheInstrumentCluster.
•Increasethesetspeedbypressingthe[+]switchBup
•Decreasethesetspeedbypressingthe[-]switchBdown
To pause or resume SCC operation:Pressthepause/resumebuttonB.TheSCCindicatoron
theInstrumentClusterdisplaywillturnOFF.
To set the vehicle-to-vehicle distance:PresstheVehicleDistancebuttonDonthesteering
wheel.TheimageontheLCDscreenCwillchangewhenscrollingthroughthesettings.
To turn SCC system OFF:PresstheDrivingAssistbutton A.
To adjust the sensitivity of SCC:Pressthemodebutton EontheSteeringWheel.Withthe
OKbutton F,selectDriverAssistance,thenSCCResponseorgotosettingsintheinfotainment
system.ThenselectFast,Normal,orSlow.
Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA)*7
BCAisdesignedtohelpalertthedriverbeforechanginglanes.BCAusesafront-viewcameraon
thefrontwindshieldandrear-cornerradarsensorsintherearbumpertohelpalertthedriverand
temporarilyapplybrakingincertainsituationsifitdetectsanapproachingvehicleinthedriver’s
blindspotarea.
ToturnBCAon,withyourvehicleatastandstill,gototheUserSettingsbypressingtheMode
buttonontheSteeringWheelortheVehicleSettings*intheinfotainmentsystem.SelectDriver
Assistance>Blind-SpotSafety.ThenselectActiveAssist,WarningOnly,orOff.

Lane Keeping Assist (LKA)7 / Lane Departure Warning (LDW)7
TheLKAsystemisdesignedtohelpdetectthelanemarkersontheroadand,incertainconditions,
providessteeringinputstoassistthedrivertokeepthevehicleinthelane.
PresstheLaneDrivingAssistbutton AtoturnLKAonoroff,whenitisfirstenabledinthe
UserSettingsintheInstrumentClusterorVehicleSettingsintheinfotainmentsystem.Once
ON,theInstrumentClusterindicator willinitiallyilluminateWHITE.ItwillremainWHITE
whenthevehicleistravelingatlessthan40mphandthesystemdoesnotdetectthelane
markers.WhentheLKAsystemdetectsthelanemarkersandcanassistthesteering,the
LKAiconwillilluminateGREEN.
IftheLKAsystemdetectsthatyouaremovingoutsideofyourlane,thevehiclecrossinglane
indicatorwillblinkandthesystemwill
issueanaudiblewarninganddisplayanLDWalertonthe
InstrumentCluster.Ifthevehiclecontinuestomoveoutsideofthelane,
theLKAsystemcanapply
aslightadjustmenttothesteering,tryingtopreventthevehiclefrommovingoutsideitslane.
All systems will operate under the following conditions:
•Thevehicleexceedsapproximately40mph.
•TheLKAsystemrecognizesbothsidesofthelanemarkersthevehicleistravelingin.
•Thevehicleisbetweenthelanemarkers.
LKA Function Change
ThedrivercanchangeLKAtotheLDWsystemorchangetheLKAmodebetweenStandardLKAandActiveLKAfromtheUserSettings
intheInstrumentCluster.ThedrivercanchoosethemodebyplacingtheignitionswitchintheONpositionandpressingtheMode
button BontheSteeringWheeltotoggletoUserSettings.PresstheOKbutton Cup/downtotoggletoDriverAssistanceandthen
LaneSafety.ThesystemisautomaticallysettostandardLKAwhenyourvehicleisfirstdeliveredfromthefactory.

LFAisdesignedtohelpensurethatthevehiclestayscenteredinitslane Abymonitoringthe
detectedlanemarkingsaheadandadjustingthesteering.TheInstrumentClusterindicatorwill
initiallyilluminateWHITEwhenturnedONand,onsomevehicles,itwillremainWHITEwhen
thesystemdoesnotdetectthelanemarkers.Whenthesystemdetectsthelanemarkersand
canassistthesteering,theLFAiconwillilluminateGREENB.WhenLFAisenabledintheUser
orVehicleSettings,*presstheLFAbutton CtoturnLFAonoroff.
LFA will operate only when these conditions are met:
•LKArecognizesbothsidesofthelanemarkersthevehicleistravelingin.
•Thevehicleistravelinglessthan95mph.
LFA User Settings:
•TogotoUserSettingsintheInstrumentCluster,presstheModebutton DontheSteering
Wheelwhenthevehicleisatastandstill,gearshiftisinPark,andwiththeignitiononorthe
ENGINESTART/STOPbutton*intheONposition,andselectUserSettings .

When in the Driver Assistance menu, select Warning Timing and one of
the following:

Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA)*7 /
Forward Collision Warning (FCW)*7
TheFCAandFCWsystemsaredesignedtohelpdetectslowingorstoppedtrafficaheadand,
undercertainconditions,canapplythebrakesinordertohelpavoidorreducetheeffectsofa
potentialcollision.Initially,theFCWwillprovideawarningwhenitdetectsapotentialcollision
withavehicleinfront,emittinganaudiblewarningandvisualalertontheInstrumentCluster A.
Toadjustthealertsettings(Early,Normal,Late),ortoturnFCA/FCWOFForON,gotoUser
SettingsintheInstrumentCluster.
FCA/FCW will become active when the:
•ENGINESTART/STOPbutton*isON.
•Vehicleistravelingmorethan6mph.
•ElectronicStabilityControl(ESC)isON.
FCA Modes:
• Active Assist:Vehiclewillprovideawarning(audibleandvisual)andapplythebrakesifneeded.

Rear Cross-Trafc Collision Avoidance Assist (RCCA)*7
RCCAisdesignedtowarnthedriverand,undercertainconditions,mayactivatetheElectronic
StabilityControl(ESC)andtemporarilyapplybrakingifitdetectscrosstrafficapproachingthe
vehicle,whenvehicleisinReverse A.RCCAwillsoundawarning,thewarningindicatorson
theoutsiderearviewmirrorswillilluminate,andamessagewillappearontheInstrumentCluster
LCD B.IfRCCAdetectsthatthecollisionriskhasincreased,thesystemautomaticallyapplies
thebrakestoreduceyourspeed,potentiallyhelpingtominimizetheeffectsofapossiblecollision.
RCCA is designed to operate under the following conditions:
•WhenthegearshiftisinReverse.
•Whenthevehicleismovinglessthan6mph.
RCCA User Settings:
•TogototheUserSettingsmenu intheInstrumentCluster,presstheModebutton C

•Tosettheinitialwarningactivationtime,gotoUserSettings,presstheMove(OK)button D
up/down,thengotoDriverAssistance,WarningTime,andpresstheOKbutton.Thereare

presstheDRIVEMODEbutton Bagaintochangetheselectiontoanothersetting.
SMART Mode
—
WhenSMARTmodeisactivated,thesystemautomaticallyselectsthedrive
modebestsuitedtothecurrentdrivingstyle(economic,average,aggressive).ASMART
indicatorwillilluminateontheInstrumentCluster.Todeactivate,presstheDRIVEMODE
button Bagaintochangetheselectiontoanothersetting.
Reminder: WhenSPORTmodeisselected,fueleconomymaydecrease.
Lifting Wipers (Wiper Service Mode)
Toliftthewipersinordertocleanthewindshield,replacethewiperblades,ortoraisethe
wipersinsnow/iceconditions,thebladesneedtobemovedtotheserviceposition A.
WiththeignitionON,thenturningtheengineOFF,movethewiperswitchtotheMISTposition
within20secondsandholdtheswitchformorethan2secondsuntilthewiperbladesarein
thefullyupposition.
Toreturnthewiperstonormalposition,turntheignitionON,thenactivateMIST.
USB Ports* and Use of Cables
VehiclemaycontainUSBport(s)fortransferringdataorplayingmusicfromacompatible
mediadevice A,aswellasUSBport(s)designedforfastcharging B.
