Pairing or Connecting Your Phone with Bluetooth®
•Select“DeviceConnections”intheinfotainmentsystem
display1or“Call”buttononthesteeringwheeltobeginthe
pairingprocessifnophonehaspreviouslybeenpaired.
•Duringthepairingprocess,pleasemakesureyouaccept
allrequestsforphonebookdownloadandfutureauto-
connectiononyourphone.
•Topairasecondphoneorsubsequentphones,reference
themanualsandguidessuppliedwithyourForteassteps
varybyinfotainmentsystem.
•Ifyouexperienceanyissueswithauto-connection,
trythefollowing:
•Rebootyourphone(turnthephoneoffandthenon).
•Updatethephoneoperatingsystemtothemostrecently
releasedversion.
•DeletethephonefromthelistofBluetooth®devices
ontheinfotainmentsystemdisplayanddeleteKia
devicefromthelistofBluetooth®devicesonyour
phone,andre-pair.
•EnsurethephonehastheBluetooth®featureactivated.
•Ifsomecontactsarenotdownloadingtotheinfotainment
systemdisplay,checktoconfirmthatthecontacthas
beenenteredcorrectlyandthatithasbeenstoredunder
thecategories(HOME,MOBILE,WORK,iPhone®3)thatare
supportedbytheinfotainmentsystemdisplay.Somecontact
categories(MAIN,PAGER,OTHER)maynotbesupported.If
thenumberofcontactsexceedsthemaximumnumberallowed
ontheinfotainmentsystemdisplay,contactswillbepartially
downloaded.Ensurethatonlythe“phonecontactlist”is

inordertouseKiaConnect(formerlyUVOlink).Iftheseconditionsarenotmet,remotecommandsmaynot
executeormaytakelongertoexecute.
• TouseRemoteStartorRemoteStartwithClimateControlfeature,alldoors,hoodandtrunk/liftgatemustbe
closedandlocked.RemoteStartorRemoteStartwithClimateControlfeaturewilloperatefor10minutes,and
thenthevehicleshutsoffautomatically.6
• ActivateRemoteStartorRemoteStartwithClimateControlfeatureafewminutesbeforeyouplantogetintothe

Accessory Mode with a Smart Key*
Withstandard-keyvehicles,youcanturnthekeytotheaccessorymodeandutilizetheelectronic
accessorieswithoutstartingthevehicle.ThisisstillpossiblewithSmartKey-equippedvehicles.
Todothis,enterthevehiclewiththeSmartKeyfobinyourpossessionandpushtheEngine
Start/Stopbutton*onetimewithoutpressingthebrakepedal.Thiswillputthevehiclein
accessorymodeandACCwillilluminateAMBER.
IftheEngineStart/StopbuttonisintheACCpositionformorethan1hour,thebuttonisturned
offautomaticallytohelppreventbatterydischarge.
Smart Trunk*
ForvehiclesequippedwithaSmartKey,*whentheSmartKeyfobisinyourpossessionandyouarewithin
closeproximitytothebackofthevehicle,thehazardwarninglightswillblinkandachimewillsoundfor
about3secondstoalertthattheSmartTrunkisabouttoopen.
Thenthealertsystemwillblinkandchime2additionaltimesbeforeopeningtheSmartTrunk.
TheSmartTrunkfeatureisOFFbydefault.ToenabletheSmartTrunk,gotoUserSettings
intheInstrumentClustermodes.
ToopentheSmartTrunkmanually,pressandholdthetrunkbutton Aorusethereleasebuttonunderthe
rearviewcamerauntilthetrunkopens.
IfyoupressedtheunlockbuttononyourSmartKey(thisdoesnotopentheTrunk),pleasebesuretopress
thelockbuttonontheSmartKeybeforewalkingawaytoensureyourentirevehicleislockedagain.
TheSmartTrunkfunctioncanbedeactivatedbypressinganybuttonontheSmartKeyduringtheDetect
andAlertstage.
Smart Key* Interference
TheSmartKeyincorporatesmanyconvenientfeaturesthatcanimprovetheaccesstoandstartingofyourvehicle.However,
therecanbesomecaseswhereradiofrequencyinterferencefromamobilephoneplacedincloseproximitytotheSmartKey,
oraphone
heldataverycloseproximitytothedoorhandlewhiletheSmartKeyisstoredinapocketorpursefartheraway,
cancausecommunicationerrors.
Whiledrivingthevehicle,donotplacetheSmartKeyontopofaphoneornexttoeachotherinthesamecompartment.Ifyouare
experiencinganyconcernsrelatedtotheSmartKeyoperation,besuretocheckthatthekeyfobisnotnearanyothersourcethat
transmitsaradiofrequencyoranotherSmartKeybeforesuspectingaconcernwiththeSmartKeyitself.

Smart Cruise Control (SCC) with Stop and Go*7
SCCisdesignedtomaintainapredetermineddistancefromvehiclesdetectedaheadby
automaticallyadjustingthedrivingspeed.WithSCConandactivated,andthevehicle
distanceset,thesystemcansloworbringthevehicletoacompletestopwhenslowing
orstoppedtrafficisdetectedahead.
Whenstoppedtrafficaheadstartstomoveforward,SCCre-engages.However,ifthevehicle
aheadstopsformorethan3seconds,SCCmustbere-engagedbydepressingtheaccelerator
pedaloroperatingthe[+]or[-]switchB.
To engage SCC and set/adjust the speed:
•PresstheDrivingAssistbutton AtoturnthesystemONandsettothecurrentspeed.The
CRUISEindicator,setspeed,andvehicledistancewillilluminateontheInstrumentCluster.
•Increasethesetspeedbypressingthe[+]switchBup
•Decreasethesetspeedbypressingthe[-]switchBdown
To pause or resume SCC operation:Pressthepause/resumebuttonB.TheSCCindicator
ontheInstrumentClusterdisplaywillturnOFF.
To set the vehicle-to-vehicle distance:PresstheVehicleDistancebuttonDonthesteering
wheel.TheimageontheLCDscreenCwillchangewhenscrollingthroughthesettings.
To turn SCC system OFF:PresstheDrivingAssistbutton A.
To adjust the sensitivity of SCC:Pressthemodebutton Eonthesteeringwheel.Withthe
OKbutton F,selectDriverAssistance,thenSCCResponse,orgotoVehicleSettingsinthe
infotainmentsystem.ThenselectFast,Normal,orSlow.
Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA)*7
BCAisdesignedtohelpalertthedriverbeforechanginglanes.BCAusesafront-viewcamera
onthefrontwindshieldandrear-cornerradarsensorsintherearbumpertohelpalertthedriver
andtemporarilyapplybrakingincertainsituationsifitdetectsanapproachingvehicleinthe
driver’sblindspotarea.
ToturnBCAon,withyourvehicleatastandstill,thegearshiftinPark,andtheEngineStart/Stop
buttonintheONposition,gototheUserSettingsbypressingtheModebuttononthesteering
wheelortheVehicleSettings*intheinfotainmentsystem.SelectDriverAssistance>Blind-Spot
Safety.ThenselectActiveAssist,WarningOnly,orOff.

Lane Keeping Assist (LKA)7 / Lane Following Assist (LFA)7
LKAisdesignedtodetectlanemarkings(orroadedges)andcanwarnthedriverifthevehicle
leavesthelanewithoutusingtheturnsignalandcanassistwithsteeringtopreventthevehicle
departingfromitstravellane.LFAisdesignedtohelpensurethatthevehiclestayscenteredin
itslane Abymonitoringthedetectedlanemarkingsaheadandvehiclesontheroad,andmay
providesteeringinputs.
To enable LKA:GotoUserSettingsintheInstrumentClusterdisplay,ORpresstheModebutton B
ontherightsideofthesteeringwheel,ORpresstheSETUPkey/buttonontheinfotainmentsystem.
SelecttheVEHICLEbuttontoentertheVehicleSettings>DriverAssistance>LaneSafety.
Onceenabled,pressandholdtheLaneSafetybutton CtoturnLKAONorOFF.WhenON,the
LaneSafetyiconontheInstrumentClusterwillilluminateWHITEwhilethesystemdoesnotdetect
thelanemarkers.Whenthesystemdetectsthelanemarkersandcanassistthesteering,theicon
willturnGREEN D.
To set/adjust Volume and Priority:
GotoVehicleSettings*intheinfotainmentsystemorUserSettingsintheInstrumentCluster
displayandinDriverAssistance,pressWarningMethodsandadjusttheWarningVolume.
LFA Hands-Off Warning:
Ifthedriverremovestheirhandsfromthesteeringwheelforseveralseconds,awarningmessage
willappearontheInstrumentCluster,andanaudiblewarningwillsound.Ifthedriver’shandsare
notreplacedonthesteeringwheel,LFAwillcancel.
LKA will operate only when these conditions are met:
•Thevehiclespeedexceedsapproximately40mph.
•LKArecognizesthelanethevehicleistravelingin.
•Thevehicleisbetweenthelanemarkers.
LFA will operate only when these conditions are met:
•LFArecognizesbothsidesofthelanemarkersthevehicleistravelingin.
•Thevehicleistravelingslowerthan95mph.
Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist-Pedestrian (FCA-Ped)*7 /
Forward Collision Warning (FCW)*7
FCA-Pedisdesignedtohelpalertthedriverand,undercertainconditions,applyemergency
braking,whenrapidlyapproachingadetectedvehiclethatisslowingdown,braking,or
stopped,orifitdetectsapedestrianinfrontofthevehicle.Initially,FCA-PedprovidesFCW
whenitdetectsapotentialcollisionwithavehicleorapedestrianinfront,emittinganaudible
warningandvisualalertontheInstrumentCluster A.Adjustthealertsettings(ActiveAssist,
WarningOnly,Off)intheUserSettings.ToturnFCAPed/FCWoff,gotoUserSettingsagain
andturnOFF.
Ifthesystemdetectsthatthecollisionriskhasincreased,FCA-Pedmayautomaticallyapplythe
brakestoreduceyourspeed,potentiallyhelpingtominimizetheeffectsofapossiblecollision.
FCA-PedcanbeturnedONintheUserSettingsmenuontheInstrumentClusterdisplay.
The FCA-Ped/FCW will become active when the:
•EngineStart/StopbuttonisON.
•Vehicleistravelingmorethan5mph.
•ElectronicStabilityControl(ESC)isON.
Warning: FCA-PedandFCWaresupplementalsystems.Neverintentionallyattempttoactivate
ortesttheoperationofthesystems.Donotsolelyrelyonthesystemsandalwaysdrivesafely.
Rear Cross-Trafc Collision Avoidance Assist (RCCA)*7
RCCAisdesignedtowarnthedriverand,undercertainconditions,mayactivatetheElectronic
StabilityControl(ESC)andtemporarilyapplybrakingifitdetectscrosstrafficapproachingthe
vehicle,whenvehicleisinReverse A.RCCAwillsoundawarning,thewarningindicatorsonthe
outsiderearviewmirrorswillilluminate,andamessagewillappearontheInstrumentCluster B.
IfRCCAdetectsthatthecollisionriskhasincreased,thesystemmaytemporarilyapplybraking
powertoreduceyourspeed,potentiallyhelpingtominimizetheeffectsofapossiblecollision.
RCCA is designed to operate under the following conditions:
•WhenthegearshiftisinReverse.
•Whenthevehicleismovinglessthan6mph.
RCCA User Settings
To enable in User Settings* in the Instrument Cluster:
PresstheModebutton ContheSteeringWheeltotoggletoUserSettings.PresstheOKbutton

To enable in Vehicle Settings* in the infotainment system:

To set Warning Timing
When in the Driver Assistance menu, select Warning Timing and one of the following:
•Normal:Maximizestheamountofdistancebetweenthevehiclesbeforetheinitial
warningoccurs.
•Later:Reducestheamountofdistancebetweenthevehiclesbeforetheinitial
warningoccurs.
•ThedefaultWarningTimingissettoNormal.IftheWarningTimingischanged,
thewarningtimeofotherDriverAssistancesystemsmayalsochange.
Reminder:MaintaincleanlinessofthevehicleexteriortohelpmaximizeRCCA.

Drive Mode Integrated Control System*
Drivemodes A:NORMAL,SPORT,andSMARTareavailableforvehicleoperatorselection,based
onpreference,andtravelconditions.ModeselectionsimplyrequiresthepressoftheDRIVE
MODEbutton B,andwilldisplayselectionontheInstrumentCluster.
NORMAL Mode

presstheDRIVEMODEbutton Bagaintochangetheselectiontoanothersetting.
SMART Mode*

WhenSMARTmodeisactivated,thesystemautomaticallyselectsthedrive
modebestsuitedtothecurrentdrivingstyle(economic,average,aggressive).ASMART
indicatorwillilluminateontheInstrumentCluster.Todeactivate,presstheDRIVEMODE
button Bagaintochangetheselectiontoanothersetting.
Reminder: WhenSPORTmodeisselected,fueleconomymaydecrease.
Lifting Wipers (Wiper Service Mode)
Toliftthewipersinordertocleanthewindshield,replacethewiperblades,orraisewipersin
snoworiceconditions,thebladesneedtobemovedtotheserviceposition A.
WiththeignitionON,thenturningtheengineOFF,movethewiperswitchtotheMISTposition
within20secondsandholdtheswitchformorethan2secondsuntilthewiperbladesarein
thefullyupposition.
Toreturnthewiperstonormalposition,turntheignitionON,thenactivateMIST.
Power Outlets,* Multimedia USB Port, and USB Charger Ports*
Power Outlets A:Usethepoweroutletsformobilephonesandotherdevicesdesigned
tooperateona12V(180Wmax.)poweroutlet.
Multimedia USB Port B:UsetheMultimediaUSBPorttoconnectUSBaudioand
