Driver Selectable Surround
DSS (Driver Selectable Surround) mode can be turned on and off with the volume control knob on the
radio or steering wheel volume control buttons. DSS will give your music a new dimension by simulating a
surround sound feel. You can enable DSS by turning the volume control knob on the radio up two
increments and then down two increments within three seconds. You will hear a momentary attenuation in
the sound when the system switches to DSS mode. You can also enable DSS with the steering wheel
volume control buttons in the same way. Press the volume up button twice and then the volume down
button twice within three seconds. To disable DSS just repeat the same process.
Note: the balance is automatically controlled when you are in DSS mode. In fact, an easy way to tell
whether you are in DSS or non-DSS mode is to try the balance control. DSS can be utilized with any
source - i.e., Sirius® satellite radio, regular radio, and compact disc player.
KMS-1® or Kicker® Mobile Surround
If your vehicle is equipped with factory VES® (Video Entertainment System) you can enjoy the benefits of
KMS-1® (Kicker Mobile Surround).
KMS-1 is enabled automatically when the Radio is put into the VES® mode. This feature offers the
ultimate listening experience by providing surround sound uniquely equalized for your interior space.
Note: While in KMS mode the system automatically sets balance, fade and tone to provide the optimal
surround experience.
KMS® is available only if a DVD is in the player and the radio mode is set to VES®.

1. Disconnect negative battery cable
2. Gently pull out on the panel just below the steering column, rotate down and remove. Fig. 1
3. Remove the two 7mm screws (one on each side of the steering column) that secure the
radio/instrument bezel. Fig. 2
4. Remove the two screws securing the plastic panel below the steering column indicated by the
arrow in Fig. 3, and the one 7mm screw near the kick panel. Also, remove the two 10mm bolts
securing the metal plate and remove plate.
5. Remove the dash end panel by prying loose with a panel removal tool. Fig. 4
6. Remove the two screws securing the speaker housing. Fig. 5
7. Remove the 10mm bolt securing the speaker housing. Fig. 6

8. Carefully pull the dash panel outward until there is sufficient room to allow access to remove
speaker housing and disconnect wiring.
9. Install the amp/bracket assembly into position as shown in Fig. 7 and secure the top of the
amp bracket using the supplied 10mm bolts.
10.Secure the bottom of the amp bracket using the supplied ¼” screw. Fig. 8
11.Install the sub amp into position by lining up the holes in the amp bracket with the two holes
for the bolts that retained the metal plate. Fig. 9
12.Install the supplied bolt into the bottom hole and leave loose. Fig. 10
13.Using a panel removal tool remove the four plastic retainers (three in front door opening and
one in rear door opening) securing the driver’s side sill plate and B pillar post cover. Fig. 11
14.Gently pull the kick panel/sill plate toward the brake pedal to release the fasteners securing it.

16.Find the rubber grommet in the top driver’s side of the fire wall underneath the hood and
remove it. Fig. 12
17.Using a razor knife make a small cut in the center of the grommet. Pass the power wire
through the grommet and pull the grommet up to the point where the plastic sheathing starts.

18.Run the wire through the grommet hole in the fire wall and reinstall the grommet.
19.Run the wire along the top of the fire wall toward the battery and secure with wire ties.
20.Remove the top of the fuse cover and using a socket and ratchet loosen and remove the nut
on the positive battery accessory lug. Fig. 14
21.Connect the ring terminal of the power harness to the lug and retighten the nut. Torque to 10Nm.
22.Install the supplied black, two-pin connector by inserting the terminal on the end of the power
into the back of the connector, until it clicks and locks into place. Fig. 15

23.Remove the bolt securing the support brace under the steering column and connect the
subwoofer harness ground wire as shown in Fig. 16. Torque to 8Nm.
24. Locate the 16 pin connector on the amplifier behind the left front speaker housing. Find the
green/brown stripe wire and the gray/brown strip wire in this connector and install one of the
self-stripping t-tap connectors on to each wire. Lay the wire in the open channel, fold the
connector body over and squeeze with a pair of pliers until connector snaps shut. Fig. 17
25. Connect the green wire of the subwoofer harness to the gray/brown strip wire. Connect the
brown wire of the subwoofer harness to the green/brown stripe wire.
26.Connect the ten-pin connector of the harness to the amplifier. Slide the red locking tab
over to prevent the connector from accidentally coming disconnected.
27.Route the harness along the bottom of the front and rear door jam and toward the back
seat.
28. Run the wire harness along the floor under the rear seats to approximately the middle of the
vehicle and pull the end of the harness under the seat to the cargo area. Fig. 18
29. Set the subwoofer in place and connect the wire harness.
30. Rotate the rear seat back until it is nearly vertical. While holding the seat back with one hand,
slide the enclosure back until the hooks on the bracket are centered under the anchor points at
the bottom of the seat. Slowly rotate the seat back toward the rear of the vehicle until it locks
into place. Fig. 19
31. Reinstall all previously removed parts in reverse order.
32. Install supplied fuse in the fuse holder under hood.
33. Reconnect the negative battery cable. Torque to 5Nm.

Troubleshooting theKickerIntegrated Systems
IfyouexperienceaproblemoncetheSubwooferisinstalledusethisguidetolocatethetrouble.
Theradioisworking,buttheSubwooferisnotworking:
•Checkthebatteryvoltagetomakesureitisnotdischargedbelow11volts.
•Checkthenegativebatterycabletoseeifithasbeensecurelytightenedbackonthebattery.
•Checktheinlinefuselocatednearthebatterytomakesureitispluggedincompletely,andnot
blown.
•Checktheinline+12Voltpower-connectornearthefirewalltomakesureitispluggedinsecurely.
•Checktheinlineconnectorsnearthesubwooferenclosuretomakesuretheyarepluggedsecurely.
•Checkthegroundwireconnectiontomakesureitistightlysecuredtothepropergroundinthe
vehicle.
•Checktheaudioinputsignalconnectiontomakesureitissecurelyconnectedtothecorrectwiring.
•Testwithdifferentmusicincasethereisnolowfrequencyaudiointheinitialsoundcheck.
Thereisabuzzorrattlenoisethataccompaniesthe
lowfrequencyelementofthemusic:
•Checkforaconnectororanyotherobjectthatcouldbeverynearthesubwooferortheenclosure.
•Checkthesubwooferenclosuremountingbracketstomakesuretheyaresecure.
There is a problem with the multi-channel stereo amplifier:
•Checkthebatteryvoltagetomakesureitisnotdischargedbelow11volts.
•Checkthenegativebatterycabletoseeifithasbeensecurelytightenedbackonthebattery.
•Checkthemulti-pinconnectorsatthebackoftheradioandattheamplifierchassistomakesure
theyarepluggedallthewayin.
