limited warranty as of the date the product was purchased at retail and that each
product is free from defects in materials. Warranty does not apply to defects due

GENERAL
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
VOLTAGEWAR I G: Before connecting the tool to a power source (receptacle, outlet,
etc.) be sure the voltage supplied is the same as that specified on the nameplate of the
tool. A power source with voltage greater than that for the specified tool can result in
SERIOUSI JURY to the user - as well as damage to the tool. If in doubt DO OT
PLUGI THETOOL. Using a power source with voltage less than the nameplate is
harmful to the motor.
1. K OW YOUR TOOL
Read and understand the owners manual and labels affixed to the tool. Learn its
application and limitations as well as its specific potential hazards.
2. REMOVE ADJUSTI G KEYS A D WRE CHES.
Form habit of checking to see that keys and adjusting wrenches are removed from tool
before turning it on.
3. AVOID DA GEROUS E VIRO ME T.
Don’t use power tools in damp or wet locations or expose them to rain. Keep work area
well lit and provide adequate surrounding work space.
4. KEEP CHILDRE AWAY.
All visitors should be kept a safe distance from work area. Use padlocks, master
switches or remove starter keys.
5. WEAR PROPER APPAREL.
Do not wear loose clothing, gloves, neckties or jewelry (rings, watch) because they could
get caught in moving parts. Non-slip footwear is recommended. Wear protective hair
covering to contain long hair. Roll up long sleeves above the elbows.
6. ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY GLASSES.
Always wear safety glasses (ANSI Z87.1). Everyday eyeglasses only have impact
resistant lenses, they are OT safety glasses. Also use a face or dust mask if cutting
operation is dusty.
7. DISCO ECT TOOLS.
Before servicing, when changing accessories or attachments.
8. CHECK DAMAGED PARTS.
Before further use of the tool, a guard or other parts that are damaged should be
carefully checked to ensure that they will operate properly and perform their intended
function. Check for alignment of moving parts, breakage of parts, mounting, and any
other conditions that may affect its operation. A guard or other parts that are damaged
should be properly repaired or replaced.

SPECIFIC SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES
Safety is a combination of common sense, staying alert and knowing how your Edge
Bander and heat gun works. Read and understand the following safety rules before
operating.
Keep Away From Flammables or Combustibles
Never operate this tool near flammables or combustibles. Failure to comply may cause
serious injury or death.
ever Touch Heat ozzle with Hands After Heating
Nozzle retains elevated temperature long after tool has been turned off. Do not rest
nozzle on or near any flammable objects.
ever Point Heat Gun at People or Animals
aximum heat output approaches 593ºC! Do not attempt to use this tool as a hair dryer
or similar device.
Use a Respirator or Face Mask
Failure to use a respirator device for some applications may be hazardous to your health.
Always keep work area well ventilated. If you have any doubt about whether or not a
respirator or face mask is needed, it would be wise to wear one.
Heat Gun Produces Flameless Heat
The Steinel®heat gun produces up to 5930C of flameless heat at the nozzle. Never direct
airstream at clothing, hair or any other body part.
ALWAYS ALLOW THE TOOL TO COOL DOW BEFORE STORAGE
Do ot Restrict the Flow of Air
Do not restrict the flow of air in or out of the tool. Nozzles that are not designed for use
with this tool can cause it to overheat.

120V OPERATIO
As received from the factory, the heat gun
supplied with this Edge Bander is ready to run
for 120V operation. This Edge Bander is
intended for use on a circuit that has an
grounded outlet and a grounded plug which
looks like the one illustrated in Fig.1.
GROU DI G
This Edge Bander must be grounded. If it should
malfunction or breakdown, grounding provides a
path of least resistance for electric current, to
reduce the risk of electric shock. This Edge Ban-
der is equipped with a cord having an equip-
ment-grounding conductor. The plug must be
plugged into an appropriate outlet that is proper-
ly installed and grounded in accordance with all
local codes and ordinances.

Not all outlets are properly grounded. If you are not sure if your outlet is properly grounded,
have it checked by a qualified electrician.

EXTE SIO CORDS
The use of any extension cord will cause some loss of power. Use the chart in Fig.2 to
determine the minimum wire size (A.W.G-American Wire Gauge) extension cord. Use only
extension cords which accept the tool’s plug.
For circuits that are further away from the electrical circuit box, the wire size must be
increased proportionately in order to deliver ample voltage to the heat gun motor. Refer
to Fig.2 for wire length and size.

Installing Rear Support Table & Support Post
1. Remove the two cap screws and washers
(A) Fig.3 at the rear of the Edge Bander
base.
2. Tilt the Edge Bander and install rear support
table (A) Fig.4 to the base (B) as shown using
the two cap screws and washers (C).
3. Locate the hex. bolt (A) Fig.5, leaving the hex.
nut (B) on the hex. bolt as shown in Fig.5.
4. Insert the hex. bolt through the hole in the
center of the support table from underneath.
The hex. nut on the bolt should be under the
support table as shown in Fig.5.
5. Lower the Edge Bander onto its base. The hex.
bolt under the support table serves as a table
support. Adjust the hex. bolt until the hex. bolt
is in contact with the surface under the support
table.
6. Thread the support post (A) Fig.6 onto the hex.
bolt from the top of the support table.
7. Secure the height of the hex. bolt by tightening
the hex. nut (B) Fig.5 under the support table.

Adjusting Upper & Lower Guides
1) The upper guides (A) Fig.7 and lower guides
(B) can be adjusted by loosening the cap
screws (C) using the 5mm hex. key.
2) The lower guides (A) should be set slightly
below the work table, once adjusted, no further
adjustments should be necessary.
3) Adjust the upper guides (B) to suit the width of
your edge banding material.
OTE: The edge banding material must move
freely through the lower and upper guides.
Adjusting infeed and outfeed guide fences
The infeed guide fence (A) Fig.8 and the outfeed
guide fence (B), guide and support the edge of
your workpiece. Normally, the guide fences are
recessed about 1/32” to 3/64” from the edge of
the roller (C). This setting was set at the factory
but you may want to double-check it before
operating.
1) Both guide fences should be positioned in
relation to the roller to allow for the thickness of
the edge banding material being used.
2) If the outfeed guide fence needs to be
adjusted, loosen the two cap screws (A) Fig.9
and reposition the outfeed guide fence as
needed.
3) To adjust the position of the infeed guide fence
(A) Fig.8, the Steinel®heat gun must be
removed before making the adjustment.
Remove the two pan head screws (A) Fig.10
and remove heat gun. This will allow you to
gain access to the infeed guide fence cap
screws from the top of the Edge Bander.
Loosen cap screws and reposition the infeed
guide fence as needed.

OPERATION
OPERATIO
Steinel® Heat Gun Controls
1) The Steinel®heat gun (A) Fig.11 comes with
an on/off switch (B) at the end of the handle.
Push switch downwards to turn heat gun On,
push switch upwards to turn heat gun Off.
2) The Steinel®heat gun also comes with a
variable temperature control dial (C) which sets
the heat gun temperature range (490C to
5930C). Turn dial clockwise to increase heat
and counterclockwise to reduce heat.
IMPORTA T: The heat gun temperature setting is directly linked to the speed which you
need to feed your workpiece. It is recommended to start the operation at a lower
temperature and make adjustments as you gain experience.
SELECTIO OF BA DI G MATERIAL (not included)
The edge banding material required must have a hot melt adhesive backing. Selecting the
width of the edge banding material you need depends on the thickness of your workpiece.
The Edge Bander will accept banding material up to 2” wide. To avoid wasting banding
material, it is recommended that the banding material be approximately 1/16” wider than
the thickness of your workpiece. This creates only about 1/32” of excess to remove from
either side of the workpiece. Use the supplied double edge trimmer or a sharp knife to trim
banding material.
OPERATIO GUIDELI E
1) Position the roll of edge banding material (not supplied) on the support table. Position
the banding material so it is oriented with the adhesive backing facing the heat gun.
2) ake sure the lower guides have been set slightly below the work table. This will place
the bottom edge of the banding material slightly below the edge of the workpiece.
3) Slide the leading end of the banding material
(A) Fig.12 through the guides (B), and adjust
the upper guides to the width of the banding
material. Banding material must move freely
between the guides.
4) Position the leading end of the banding
material in front of the nozzle and roller.
5) Set the desired heat setting using the
temperature control dial on the heat gun.

6) Plug the heat gun power cord into a 120V power source and push the On/Off switch
upwards to turn heat gun on.
ote: Allow approximately 30-40 seconds for the hot air gun to reach operating
temperature. Adjust temperature if necessary.
7) As the banding material adhesive softens at the front end, hand feed the banding
material up to the edge of the roller. A general indicator that the adhesive is hot enough
is when it begins to bubble slightly.
8) Place workpiece on the table and against the infeed fence.
9) Push the edge of the workpiece along the infeed fence and against the edge banding
material. The edge banding material will be trapped between the roller and the
workpiece. The edge banding material will bond to the workpiece.
10) Guide the workpiece along the roller at a steady, moderate speed. The edge banding
material will continue to bond to the edge of the workpiece and will be pulled through
the guides by the movement of the workpiece.
11) ake sure the adhesive is bonding to the workpiece. If you feed the workpiece too
fast, or the hot air gun temperature is set too low, the bond will be poor. Adjust as
needed to obtain a good bond.
12) As you move the workpiece forward, always maintain pressure on the roller while you
are edge banding.
13) When the trailing end of the workpiece gets
to approximately 5” from the center of the
roller (A) Fig.13 as shown, firmly push down
on the palm strike knob (B) to cut the edge
banding material.
14) Continue to push the workpiece forward until
the entire edge of the workpiece has been
banded. The end of the banding material will
extend slightly beyond the trailing end of the
workpiece.
15) Trim excess banding material using the
double edge trimmer (1/2” to 1” thick
capacity) provided or a knife. Position double edge trimmer over the banded edge of
the workpiece and squeeze firmly to clamp it against the workpiece edge. Continue to
squeeze it firmly, and slide the double edge trimmer down the edge of the workpiece
in the direction of the arrows. Use steady, even pressure for best results.
16) Turn off the heat gun and allow it to cool completely before storing the Edge Bander.
When the Edge Bander is not being used, unplug it from the power source.

AINTENANCE
MAI TE A CE
Cleaning
1) Accummulation of adhesive- Prolonged use of the Edge Bander may cause
accumulation of adhesive on the guides, which can prevent free movement of the edge
banding material. To remove this adhesive, plug in the heat gun and turn it on, with the
heat gun set at medium temperature. The heat gun will soften the adhesive, and will
make it easier to peel the adhesive from the guides with a putty knife. Be careful not to
scratch the guides; they must remain smooth for best results.
2) Roller- If the roller needs cleaning, wipe it with soap and water. Do not use solvents on
the roller.
Servicing: When servicing, only use identical replacement parts.
