KneeRover GO User manual

KneeRover® GO
Knee Scooter User Manual
Congratulations on your purchase of the KneeRover®GO
–The Most Compact & Portable Knee Scooter!
The KneeRover®GO is designed for the person on the go that
won’t let an ankle, foot or leg injury slow them down. Whether you
are a commuter, traveler, or just need a compact and portable
mobility device to go about your busy life–the KneeRover®GO will
give you the freedom you deserve during your recovery.
Operating Instructions:
This medical device is designed to maximize mobility during your
recovery from foot/ankle surgery or injury.
Place the knee of your injured leg on the knee platform and stand as
straight as possible. Adjust the handlebar to waist height so the arms and
hands are in a comfortable position. Adjust the knee platform so that
your injured leg is supported at a 90 degree angle when standing.
Ensure that the hand brake is fully engaged before mounting the
KneeRover®scooter. To move the scooter, simply push forwards or
backwards with your good foot. Allow the scooter to glide, and as it slows
down, push again.
Safety First:
The KneeRover®scooter is designed for easy steering and stopping and
should be used to carefully move about at slow, controlled speeds. When
turning the scooter, you should have the brake applied and be moving at a
slow, safe, controlled speed. It is easy to tip the scooter if you are making
a turn with too much speed. Use caution and balance and operate at your
own risk.
With routine use, nuts and bolts on steering column and brake
mechanism can and likely will become loose. Periodically check nuts and
bolts after use and re-tighten as appropriate.

Set Up Instructions:
Please follow the step by step instructions on the following pages to
properly assemble your KneeRover®scooter. The diagram below
identifies the key components of the scooter to aid with assembly.
Visit kneerover.com for assembly videos.
Setup Instructions:
Step 1: Install Steering Column
Please carefully complete all steps before operating your new
KneeRover®scooter. Remove all packing materials and then unhook the
Transport Bungee hook from steering column (shown in left photo
below). Next, raise the steering column until it is vertical, and lift the
hinge lever completely so it is also vertical. Then slide the black latch to
the LEFT to secure the hinge lever in place (see right photo below).
Step 2: Rotate Front Wheels & Set Guide Pin
Pull down the guide pin ring (as shown below left), and turn the
handlebars counterclockwise so that the front wheels and brake handle
are facing forward. Release the guide pin so it sits between the guide
stops (see photo on right). Be sure that the brake cable is not twisted.
The front of the scooter should look similar to the picture on the previous
page.

Step 3: Secure Center Frame Hinge
Connect the front (green) and rear (white) frame sections by
closing the center frame hinge. The hinge pin will lock into place
(see left photo). Next, ensure the frame is securely locked into place
by sliding the frame lever into the slot (center photo). Rotate the
lever clockwise to tighten and then press the lever firmly down
until it is locked in place (see left photo).
Step 4: Install Knee Platform and Set Handlebar Height
The knee platform is designed to be used with either the right or left
leg. Insert the knee platform post into the receptacle tube and set the
knee platform at your desired height for use by inserting the locking
pin through the aligned holes. Finally, tighten the clamp lever to secure
the knee platform in place. (see left photo below)
Open the steering height lever, and pull up on the handlebars to set at
the desired height - typically waist height. Next, turn the ribbed knob
clockwise to tighten the clamp and firmly push the steering height
lever to closed and locked position (see bottom right photos).
Setup Continued & Maintenance:
Step 5: Brake Operation
To engage the hand brake, squeeze the brake lever on handle bar.
The KneeRover®scooter comes equipped with a brake lock /
parking brake. Simply squeeze brake handle firmly and press the
button to engage the lock. To release the lock, squeeze the brake
handle again.
Ongoing Maintenance
With routine use, nuts and bolts on the steering column and brake
assembly can become loose. To ensure safe operation of this
KneeRover®scooter it is important to periodically inspect the knee
walker for loose nuts and bolts and re-tighten as appropriate.
