compactlightweightnonpressureratedhousingforfullthirdpartyintegration.
cNODEExplorerisacompacttransponderthatisfullycompatiblewithHiPAP ,cPAP
andμPAPunderwaterpositioningsystems.
cNODEExplorermaybeconnectedwithuptothreeremotetransducers.Thetransducers
maybeselectedandswitchedelectronicallybythesubseavehiclecontrolsystemor
acoustically,tooptimiseforexampleverticalorhorizontalpositioningperformance.
Thetransducersmaybeselectedandswitchedelectronicallybythesubseavehicle

Therearedifferentremotetransducersavailableformanyuses.
Thecableconnectstheremotetransducertothe
transponder.
Generalsupplyconditions
GeneralsupplyconditionsapplytothiscNODEExplorerdelivery.
Receipt,unpackingandstorage
Uponacceptingshipmentoftheequipment,theshipyardand/orthedealermustensure
thatthedeliveryiscompleteandinspecteachshippingcontainerforevidenceofphysical
damage.
Iftheinspectionrevealsanyindicationofcrushing,dropping,immersioninwateror
anyotherformofdamage,therecipientshouldrequestthatarepresentativefromthe
companyusedtotransporttheequipmentbepresentduringunpacking.
Allequipmentmustbeinspectedforphysicaldamage,i.e.brokencontrolsandindicators,
dents,scratchesetc.duringunpacking.Ifanydamagetotheequipmentisdiscovered,the
recipientmustnotifyboththetransportationcompanyandKongsbergMaritimesothat
KongsbergMaritimecanarrangeforreplacementorrepairofthedamagedequipment.
Onceunpacked,theequipmentmustbestoredinacontrolledenvironmentwithan
atmospherefreeofcorrosiveagents,excessivehumidityortemperatureextremes.
Theequipmentmustbecoveredtoprotectitfromdustandotherformsofcontamination
whenstored.
Equipmentresponsibility
Unlessotherwisestatedinthecontract,theshipyarddoingtheinstallationand/or
equipmentdealerbecomesfullyresponsiblefortheequipmentuponreceipt.

Generalacoustic
considerations
Takethisinformationintoconsiderationwhendeployingthetransponders.
Acousticrange
Thedepthratingshouldnotbeconfusedwithacousticrange.Theacousticrangeis
dependentonmanyfactors,andsomeofthefactorsareoutsidecontroloftheuser.
Vesselsystem
Thedirectivityandcoverageareaforthevesselsystemisdifferent,dependingonwhich
systemyouareusing.Somesystemshavehighdirectivityandomnidirectionalcoverage,
whileothersystemshasreducedcoverageandlessdirectivity.Thetranspondershould
alwaysbewithinthecoverageconeofthevesselsystem.
Transducertype
Therearedifferenttypesoftransducersusedonthetransponders.Anomnidirectional
transducer,suchasaTD180,coversalargearea,buthaslessacousticpowercompared
toafocusedtransducer,suchasTD50V .Afocusedsignalgiveslessfootprint/coverage.
Thevesselshouldalwaysbewithinthesignalfootprintofthetransponder.
TxPower
Theabilitytodetectsignalsdependsonthesignalstrength.Thetransmissionpowercan
beadjusted,bothforthevesselsystemandforthetransponder.
Acousticnoise
Acousticnoiseispresentatallvessels.Atgivenconditions,thenoiselevelcanbe
excessive.Acousticnoiseiscausedbymainpropellersandthrusters,andinsome
instancesalsofrommachinery/pumpsonboard.Heavypropeller/thrusteruseoralso
wavescanalsogenerateairbubbles,whichcangetinfrontofthevesseltransducerand
blocktheacousticsignal.
