Quick Installation Guide
*Windows 98SE/Me/2000/XP/2003/Vista:
I. Install the Driver and Utility
The following installation operates under Windows XP. Procedures are similar for Windows®98SE/
Me/2000/2003/Vista.
Please do not install the adaptor into your computer before installing the software program
from the CD.
A. Insert the Installation CD to your CD-ROM Drive. Execute the „setup“ program.
B. Click „Yes“ to process the installation if you accept the license agreement.

C. In Windows®XP, there is a „Windows Zero ConfigurationTool“ for you to setup the wireless adaptor.
You can choose to configure the adaptor through the Windows Zero Configuration Tool or the
Ralink Configuration Tool for the adaptor. It is recommended to choose the Ralink Configuration
Tool for the adaptor. Click „Next“ to continue.
D. If you need the adaptor to operate with better performance, please choose the „Optimize for
performance“ to enable the Tx Burst mode. Or you can choose „Optimize for Wi-Fi mode“ to let
the adaptor run in standard wireless network.
E. The system starts to install the software of the adaptor.Please follow the instructions of the program
to plug in the adaptor into the USB port of your computer. And the system will automatically detect
the adaptor.

NOTE: In Windows Vista, the following window will appear when you insert network adapter into
computer, please ignore it and wait. It will disappear after driver installation is complete.
F. Please click „Finish“ to complete the installation.
II. Use the Ralink Configuration Utility
When the adaptor is installed, the Ralink configuration utility will be displayed automatically. This
adaptor will auto connect to wireless device which has better signal strength and no wireless
security setting.

There will be an icon displayed in the system tray. You can double click the icon in the system tray
to open the Ralink configuration utility.
In Windows XP, there is a „Windows Zero Configuration Tool“ for you to setup wireless clients. If you
want to switch to use Ralink configuration utility, please follow one of the ways as below.
First Way
Right click the icon in the system tray and select „Use RaConfig as Configuration utility“.
Second Way
A. Right-click the icon and select „View Available Wireless Networks“.
B. Click „Change Advanced Settings“.

C. Uncheck „Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings“ to enable the utility for the
adaptor.
Note: If „Wireless Zero Configuration“ is enabled, you can only configure the advance setting or
check the link status and statistics from the configuration utility of the adaptor.

*Windows 98SE/Me/2000/XP/2003/Vista:
I. Installieren Sie den Treiber und das Dienstprogramm
Die folgende Installation arbeitet unter Windows XP. Die Verfahren sind für Windows 98SE/
Me/2000/2003/Vista ähnlich.
Installieren Sie den Adapter in Ihrem Computer erst, wenn die Software von der CD installiert
worden ist.
A. Legen Sie die Installations-CD in Ihr CD-ROM-Laufwerk ein. Führen Sie das Setup-Programm
aus.
B. Klicken Sie auf "Yes", um die Installation durchzuführen, wenn Sie die Lizenzvereinbarung
akzeptieren.

C. In Windows XP gibt es einen Drahtlosnetzwerkinstallations-Assistenten, mit dem Sie den WLAN-
Adapter einrichten. Sie können den Adapter mit dem Windows Assistenten oder dem "Ralink
Configuration Tool" konfigurieren. Es wird das "Ralink Configuration Tool" empfohlen. Klicken Sie
auf "Next" (Weiter), um fortzufahren.
D. Wenn der Adapter mit einer besseren Leistung arbeiten soll, wählen Sie bitte "Optimize for
performance", um den Tx Burst-Modus zu aktivieren. Oder Sie können "Optimize for Wi-Fi mode"
wählen, damit der Adapter im Standard-WLAN-Netzwerk arbeiten kann.
E. Das System beginnt, die Software des Adapters zu installieren.Befolgen Sie bitte die Anweisungen
des Programms, um den Adapter in den USB-Anschluss Ihres Computers zu stecken. Und das
System erkennt den Adapter automatisch.

ANMERKUNG: In Windows Vista wird das folgende Fenster geöffnet, wenn Sie den Netzwerkadapter
in den Computer einstecken. Beachten Sie es bitte nicht und warten. Es wird geschlossen, wenn
die Installation des Treibers beendet ist.
F. Klicken Sie bitte auf "Finish", um die Installation zu beenden.
II. Benutzen Sie das Ralink-Konfigurationsprogramm
Wenn der Adapter installiert ist, wird das Ralink-Konfigurationsprogramm automatisch angezeigt.
Dieser Adapter verbindet sich automatisch mit einem WLAN-Gerät, das die beste Signalstärke und
keine Sicherheitseinstellung hat.

In der Taskleiste wird ein Symbol angezeigt. Sie können das Ralink-Konfigurationsprogramm durch
Doppelklick auf das Symbol in der Taskleiste öffnen.
In Windows XP gibt es einen Drahtlosnetzwerkinstallations-Assistenten zur Einrichtung von
drahtlosen Clients. Wenn Sie das Ralink-Konfigurationsprogramm benutzen möchten, befolgen
Sie bitte eine der unten aufgeführten Möglichkeiten.
Erste Möglichkeit
Klicken Sie mit rechts auf das Symbol in der Taskleiste, und wählen Sie "Use RaConfig as
Configuration utility".
Zweite Möglichkeit
A. Klicken Sie mit rechts auf das Symbol, und wählen Sie "Verfügbare Drahtlosnetzwerke
anzeigen".
B. Klicken Sie auf "Erweiterte Einstellungen ändern".

C. Entfernen Sie das Häkchen bei "Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings", um das
Dienstprogramm für den Adapter zu aktivieren.
ANMERKUNG: Wenn "Windows zum Konfigurieren der Einstellungen verwenden" aktiviert ist,
können Sie nur die fortgeschrittene Einstellung konfigurieren oder den Linkstatus und die Statistik
aus dem Konfigurationsprogramm des Adapters überprüfen.

Guide d'installation rapide
*Windows 98SE/Me/2000/XP/2003/Vista :
I. Installer le pilote et l‘utilitaire
L‘installation suivante fonctionne sous Windows XP. Les procédures sont identiques pour
Windows 98SE/Me/2000/2003/Vista.
N'installez pas l'adaptateur sur votre ordinateur avant d'installer le programme d'installation
à partir du CD.
A. Insérez le CD d‘installation dans votre lecteur de CD-ROM. Exécutez le programme
d‘installation.
B. Cliquez sur „Yes“ pour poursuivre l‘installation si vous êtes d‘accord avec la licence d‘utilisation
du logiciel.

C. Sous Windows XP, le service Windows "Windows Zero Configuration Tool" (outil Windows ne
nécessitant aucune configuration)" est mis à votre disposition pour configurer l‘adapteur sans fil.
Vous pouvez choisir de configurer l‘adaptateur soit avec l‘outil Windows ne nécessitant aucune
configuration, soit avec l‘outil de configuration Ralink pour l‘adaptateur. Il est recommandé de
choisir l‘outil de configuration Ralink pour l‘adaptateur. Cliquez sur "Next" pour poursuivre.
D. Si vous souhaitez que votre adaptateur soit plus performant, choisissez "Optimize for performance
(optimisé pour être performant)" pour activer le mode Tx Burst. Ou bien vous pouvez choisir
"Optimize for Wi-Fi mode (optimisé pour le mode Wi-Fi)" pour laisser l'adaptateur fonctionner en
réseau sans fil standard.
E. Le système démarre l‘installation du logiciel de l‘adaptateur. Suivez les indications du
programme pour brancher l‘adaptateur sur le port USB de votre ordinateur. Le système détectera
automatiquement l‘adaptateur.

NOTE: Sous Windows Vista, la fenêtre suivante apparaît lorsque vous branchez l‘adaptateur réseau
sur votre ordinateur, ignorez-la et patientez. Elle disparaîtra à la fin de l‘installation du pilote.
F. Cliquez sur „Finish (terminer)“ afin de terminer l‘installation.
II. Utilisation de l‘utilitaire de Configuration Ralink
Une fois l‘adaptateur installé, l‘utilitaire de configuration Ralink apparaît automatiquement. Cet
adaptateur se connectera automatiquement au périphérique sans fil avec le plus fort signal et
aucun paramètre de sécurité sans fil.

Un icône apparaîtra dans la zone de notification. Vous pouvez double-cliquer sur l‘icône de la zone
de notification pour ouvrir l‘utilitaire de configuration de Ralink.
Sous Windows XP, le service Windows „Windows Zero Configuration Tool“ est mis à votre
disposition pour configurer les clients sans fil. Si vous souhaitez utiliser l‘utilitaire de configuration
Ralink, suivez l‘une des étapes suivantes:
Première étape
Double-cliquez sur l‘icône de la zone de notification et choisissez „Utilisez RaConfig comme
utilitaire de configuration“.
Deuxième étape
A. Double-cliquez sur l‘icône et choisissez „Afficher réseaux sans fil disponibles“.
B. Cliquez sur "Change Advanced Settings (modifier les paramètres avancés)".

C. Décochez "utiliser Windows pour configurer mes paramètres de réseau sans fil") pour activer
l‘utilitaire à l‘adaptateur.
Note: Si "Wireless Zero Configuration" n‘est pas activé, vous pouvez uniquement configurer les
paramètres avancés ou vérifier le statut des liens et des statistiques de l‘utilitaire de configuration
de l‘adaptateur.
