ENSURE THAT THE FOLLOWING PARTS HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE KIT:
1Relay Module 4 Wire 1Hardware Kit, containing:
14 Pin Trailer Plug Harness 1Blue Butt Connectors 16-14 Gauge
1Inline Blade Style Fuse Holder 1Blade Fuse 15A
1Ring Terminal 16-14 American Wire Gauge (AWG), 1/4” Stud
YOU WILL ALSO NEED:
Wire stripper/cutter, wire crimpers, #2 Phillips screw driver, socket and ratchet set, in-lbs (Nm) torque wrench
THESE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS CONTAIN IMPORTANT INFORMATION. ENSURE THE END USER RECEIVES THIS COPY AND IS AWARE
OF ITS IMPORTANCE FOR FUTURE USE.
A FACTORY SERVICE MANUAL WILL BE HELPFUL IN PERFORMING THIS
INSTALLATION. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PERFORM THIS INSTALLATION
IF YOU ARE NOT CONFIDENT IN YOUR ABILITY TO COMPLETE ALL OF
THE STEPS IN THE PROCEDURE; CONSULT A TRAINED TECHNICIAN.
IMPROPER INSTALLATION COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR
DEATH.
ACCIDENTAL VEHICLE START-UP COULD CAUSE DEATH OR SERIOUS
INJURY, REMOVE THE MAIN FUSE BEFORE PROCEEDING.
STEP 1 Read and understand all steps in the instructions before starting the
installation. Park the motorcycle on a hard, level surface and turn off
the ignition. Let motorcycle cool.
STEP 2 Refer to PIC 2. Remove motorcycle’s seat, left side saddlebag (if
applicable), left side cover, and the main fuse. Set all aside, they will
be reused.
STEP 3 Refer to PIC 3 and 4. Remove the two (2) mounting screws holding the
top caddy and Electronic Control Module (ECM) in place. Lift the ECM
up to gain access to the battery.

STEP 4 Refer to PIC 5. Locate the provided Inline Blade Style Fuse Holder, Blue
Butt Connectors 16-14 Gauge, and the Ring Terminal 16-14 AWG. Strip
both ends of the Inline Blade Style Fuse Holder.
STEP 5 Refer to PIC 6. Place the Blue Butt Connector on one of the stripped
ends of the fuse holder and crimp the end of the connector covering
the exposed wire.
STEP 6 Refer to PIC 6. Place the Ring Terminal on the other stripped end of the
fuse holder and crimp the terminal covering the exposed wire.
REDUCE THE RISK OF SPARKS AND UNINTENTIONAL ENGINE START-UP;
DISCONNECT THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE.
STEP 7 Refer to PIC 7 and 8. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal, followed by
the positive (+) terminal. Align the hole of the ring terminal of the Inline
Blade Style Fuse Holder with the positive terminals; connect all of the
terminals to the battery. Once the positive terminals are reconnected,
reconnect the negative terminal to the battery.
TORQUE VALUE FOR BATTERY TERMINAL BOLT:
60-70 IN-LBS (6.8-7.9 NM)
STEP 8 Lower and reposition the EMC/top caddy accordingly. Secure the top
caddy using the two bolts that were removed in Step 3.
TORQUE VALUE FOR TOP CADDY BOLTS:
72-96 IN-LBS (8.1-10.9 NM)
STEP 9 Refer to PIC 9. Locate and disconnect the rear fender harness
connection.
STEP 10 Refer to PIC 10. Locate the Relay Module 4 Wire. Plug-in the mating
connectors (located on the same side of the module) between your
rear fender harness. Find a safe location to mount the Relay Module
under seat or side cover. Use cable-ties or Velcro to keep the module
secure.
STEP 11 Refer to PIC 11. Locate the single RED wire from the Relay Module.
Before stripping the wire and connecting it with the Inline Blade Style
Fuse Holder, determine desired length needed for the Relay Module
RED wire.
Provide a little extra length to the wire, and then strip and splice it with
the Blue Butt Connector attached to the Fuse Holder wire. Crimp the
connector covering the exposed RED wire of the Relay Module.

STEP 12 Refer to PIC 12 and 13. Locate the provided 4 Pin Trailer Plug Harness.
Connect the Trailer Plug Harness to the Relay Module. Route the Trailer
Plug Harness down and through either side of the rear fender. Fasten
the harness to the rear fender to keep it away from the rear wheel and
suspension.
STEP 13 Refer to PIC 14. Connect 4 Pin trailer plug (Included and pre-installed
on harness).
Wire color/functions are as follows:
White = Ground
Brown = Run
Yellow = Left Turn/Brake
Green = Right Turn/Brake
Red with covered end = Live Wire for additional power source
Note: The red live wire is to use with an additional power source. If you
are not installing and using an addtional power source for your trailer
the red live wire must remain covered, and needs to be secured to the
other wires.
STEP 14 Refer to PIC 15. Locate the provided Blade Fuse 15A. Insert the fuse
into the Inline Blade Style Fuse Holder. Cover the fuse with the plastic
cover.
STEP 15 Reinstall the main fuse. Test turn signals, brakes, and trailer lights.
STEP 16 Reinstall the left side cover, left side saddlebag (if applicable), and the
motorcycle seat.
IT IS THE INSTALLER’S RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE THAT ALL OF THE
FASTENERS (INCLUDING PRE-ASSEMBLED) ARE TIGHTENED BEFORE
OPERATION OF THE MOTORCYCLE. KURYAKYN WILL NOT PROVIDE
WARRANTY COVERAGE ON PRODUCTS OR COMPONENTS LOST DUE
TO IMPROPER INSTALLATION OR LACK OF MAINTENANCE. PERIODIC
INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE ARE REQUIRED ON ALL FASTENERS.

LIMITED WARRANTY
Kuryakyn warrants that any Kuryakyn products sold hereunder, shall be free of defects in materials & workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of
purchase by the consumer excepting the following provisions:
1. Kuryakyn shall have no obligation in the event the customer is unable to provide a receipt showing the date the customer purchased the product(s).
2. The product must be properly installed, maintained & operated under normal conditions.
3. Kuryakyn shall not be liable for any consequential & incidental damages, including labor & paint, resulting from failure of a Kuryakyn product, failure to deliver, delay
in delivery, delivery in nonconforming condition, or for any breach of contract or duty between Kuryakyn & a customer.
4. Kuryakyn products are often intended for use in specific applications. Kuryakyn makes no warranty if a Kuryakyn product is used in applications other than intended.
5. Kuryakyn electrical products are warranted for one (1) year from the date of purchase by the consumer. L.E.D.’s contained in components of Kuryakyn products will
be warranted for defects in materials & workmanship for 3 years from the date of purchase whereas all other components shall be warranted for one (1) year.
6. All warranty claims must be directed to the place of purchase. Merchandise sold through internet auction sites or any other unauthorized reseller shall not carry a
Kuryakyn warranty. If unsure, please contact the place of purchase to verify they are an authorized Kuryakyn reseller.
RETURN POLICY
Merchandise determined to be defective may be returned up to one year from the date of purchase. Returns must be processed through original seller. Returned
merchandise for any other reason other than warranty claims must be in like new condition & subject to a 20% restocking fee. All returns are subject to inspection
for determination of full or partial credit. Any returned part that shows evidence of being used or installed contrary to manufacturer’s instructions, &/or subjected to
improper handling, packaging or return shipping by the customer, will not be eligible for exchange, refund or warranty consideration. All returned electrical items will be
inspected & tested. If electrical item is deemed functional, no credit will be issued & item will be returned. All sales are final on discontinued or closeout merchandise.
