GENERAL SAFETY INFORMATION
Be sure the following safety instructions are read, understood and become part of daily practice when
operating or maintaining the closing equipment.
1. Do not attempt to operate the closer until you understand its function. Study the manual carefully.
2. Keep all foreign material and fingers away from the drive system.
3. Keep fingers out of the feed belt area.
4. Disconnect the power cord before making any closing head adjustments or performing any
maintenance. All moving parts must be completely stopped before continuing.

Specifications
The type 893A ULTRA MACHINE
automatically closes bags with the
Striplok© closure and closure-label.
A. Kwik Lok's 893A Ultra automatic bag closer is a
variable speed machine, offering high speed (120
bags/minute) bag closing. It is computer controlled
from a touch screen panel, which is located on a
swivel arm for easy access.
B. The 893A uses the J-NRP or JM-NRP series
Striplok closures and/or custom printed reversed
style closure-labels to close packages. The Striplok
closure and closure-labels are available in many
closure opening sizes to accommodate a large vari-
ety of film thicknesses.
Upon request, and receipt of sample bags, Kwik
Lok will gladly recommend the proper closure open-
ing sizes. Use the bag length formula located in the
appendix to help determine the proper bag length
needed.
C. The closer is available in right-hand or left-hand
models. The 893 is BISSC Certified and CSA rated.
D. The 893 has many standard features including:

4. Automatic speed control that is tied into the
bagger. This feature maintains the optimum
speed relationship between the closer and the
bagger.
5. Alarm box which connects to the closer alarm
port,and emits an audible alarm and/or warning
light.
6. Mount kits.
7. Ethernet communication kit which accesses the
closer from a remote PC.

E. The closer has two covers with interlocks, which
stop the belt drive and disable the actuating cycle
when the covers are removed.
F. Optional features include:
1. Printers, including laser, ink jet, thermal and
cold foil.
2. Out of closure sensor that determines when
closures are not present, and sends a warning
to the screen and alarm port.
3. Lok Management System which monitors the
product, closure movement and printing cycle to
determine if the bag was closed.

To determine the correct flow direction, visualize your package moving away from
you, towards the closing machine.
If the open end of the bag is on your right-hand side - the flow direction is RIGHT.
If the open end of the bag is on your left-hand side - the flow direction is LEFT.

The chart shown above is a sample of the maximum
bags per minute based on bag width and flight spacing.
The surface feet per minute of the supply conveyor can
not be over 120 ft/min ( 61cm / sec) for proper opera-
tion.
For an exact machine speed based on specific bag
width and flight spacing please contact Kwik Lok
Corporation for further details.
*There is a 20% reduction in packages per minute
when utilizing closure-labels.

The 883R Thermal Printer Adapter Kit utilizes a
markem-imaje SmartDate5® X60 Thermal Printer. The
printer has a full color touchscreen controller with an
icon-driven menu, allowing ease of set-up and opera-
tion. The printer offers coding flexibility, as well as real-
time dates and date offsets.
The 896 Laser Printer uses a fiber laser to reproduce
a printed image on the closure and is capable of high
speed operation. The laser printer is self sufficient and
requires no consumable items. It is controlled by a self
contained control box. The desired print formats are
downloaded into the printer controller and accessed
with the scan wand.
The 897 Cold Foil Printer utilizes hardened steel type
and a cold transfer foil to print on Kwik Lok closures.
This printer is air operated. It is controlled with an elec-
tric signal from the 893 Ultra closer. This printer is
capable of high speed operation.
The 901B Autoprint 893 utilizes a programmable
industrial ink jet printer manfactured by Squid Ink®
Manuafacturing. It is designed to be attached to a Kwik
Lok 893A Automatic Bag Closing Machine.
