Depending on installation environment, dust gets into the main unit through the louver at the left side of the main
unit and adheres to the LSU drive part. The LSU cleaning motor rotation torque increases and servcie call error
C4600 (LSU cleaning motor error) might occur at the LSU slit glass cleaning (executed in a specified interval)
Follow the procedures 1-4 below when the above phenomenon occurs.
[Field measure] (Refer to page 3-5 for procedure 1,2,4 and 6 and after or procedure 3)）
1. Clean around the louver of the middle left covr and lower left cover (2 points).
2. Attach the filter mounting holder (No2)to the above louver and set the dust filter (No1).
3. Check the condition of LSU drive unit (No4 or No5) and replace it if necessary.
(It is difficult to remove dust inside the LSU drive unit and it is recommended to replace the unit but not
mandatory.)
4. (Maintenance afterward) Clean the dust filter or replace it when visiting the customer. (Standard interval
to replace: 1 year) At the same time, check the condition of the the filter mounting holder secured and if
coming off, use the double sided tape set of 6 pcs. (No3) to replace the double sided tape.

Procedures to attch the dust filter and filter mounting holder

Detach the middle left cover (a) and lower left
cover (b), and clean around the louver (c) of
inner and outer side of the machine. (Refer to
each model service manual Chapter4
[Detaching/reattaching the lower left cover] for
the procedures to detach the above cover.)
Reattach the middle left cover (a) and lower left
cover (b) after cleaning.

Clean around the louver (d) at the outer side of
the main unit with alcohol.
3
Affix 3 pcs. double sided tape (f) to the filter
mounting holder (e).
Note:
The double sided tape (f) should not run over
the sticking area of the filter mounting holder (e)

(e) to the louver (c) on the middle left cover and
lower left cover with the alignment below.
Press there firmly after affixing.

・Attach the dust filter (m) in the direction in the

・Clean the dust filter (m) using a vacuum
cleaner, etc. Standard interval to replace is 1
year and the timing depends on the installed
environment.

Detach the external covers and units below.
・Upper right cover
・Middle right cover
・Upper left cover
・Middle left cover
・2 LSUs
・Primary transfer unit
・4 drum units
・4 developer units
(Refer to each model service manual Chapter 4 for
the detaching procedures for each part)

Release hook (o) of 3 pcs. parts (n) securing
FFC and detach them.

Disconnect the connecter (q) of the LSU cleaning
motor wire (red) connecting to YC26 connector of
the engine relay PWB (p).

drive unit (s) in the order of 1 to 4 in the figure and
detach it from the metal plate.

Pull the LSU drive unit (s) to the center of the main
unit and pull out the LSU cleaning motor wire (q)
through the hole (v) on the left frame of the main
unit.
Note:
The LSU drive unit (s) cannot be take out since
the FFC is connected at this procedure.

Release 4 hooks (x) of COVER DUCT LEFT (w) at
the rear side of the main unit (LSU cleaning motor
side) in the order of 1 to 4 in the figureCOVER and
detach COVER DUCT LEFT (w).

Disconnect the FFC terminal (z) from the FFC
connector on the drum relay PWB (y).
9
Detach COVER DUCT LEFT(w) of the new LSU
drive unit (s) (35/35ppm printer/MFP: No4, 40ppm
printer: No5) at the rear side of the main unit (LSU
cleaning motor side) (Refer to Procedure 7)

Pass through the FFC terminal (z) disconnected at

the new LSU drive unit (s) and the edge of the
drum relay PWB (y).
Connect the FFC terminal (z) to the FFC

Insert 4 lowe hooks (t) in the order of 1 to 4 in the
figure.
Note: The hook (t) breaks easily and so press the
root of the hook (Yin the figure) to insert it into the
hole on the metal plate.

Connect the wire connector (q) of the LSU
cleaning motor to YC26 connector of th engine
relay PWB (p) (Refer to Procedure 3 in page 6)
