4 Product Overview
4.1 Product Description
The new AirSTREAM mounting rail system is suitable for users that want to design a mounting frame
independently, quickly and easily on site. To this end, the LÜTZE engineers have expanded the
modular system to include defined lengths and standardized dimensions in a 10, 25 and 50-mm hole
pattern. The AirSTREAM mounting rail system offers up to 12 mm more depth, which is highly
beneficial for special cabinets. The mounting rails offer much more flexibility, also for the subsequent
assembly of the equipment. This allows other modules to be installed between the installed modules
using rotating sliding nuts. Alternatively, entire fields in the middle of the frame can be left free for
subsequent configuration. In addition to a snap-fit edge protector that closes the ends of the mounting
rail cleanly, Lütze has produced new brackets that are specially designed for the mounting rail system.
These brackets allow the space-saving installation of rails across the entire frame width. The new
mounting rails are compatible to the long-time proven VPsym system, which means both systems can
be used in parallel.
The central benefit of the new AirSTREAM mounting rail system is the significant time savings when
assembling the frame. Practical tests confirm that the time required for final assembly can be cut by up
to 50%. The assembly process is flexible and intuitive thanks to the defined hole pattern. Without
measuring or drilling, modules can be positioned and screwed using brackets or even EMC profiles in
a 10 mm grid or with slide nuts. Users do not require an assembly table nor special tools to build
the frame. Assembly on the workshop floor is even possible.
To affix the frame in the cabinet, Lütze also supplies special adapter brackets and flexible screws that
simplify the frame installation depending on the circumstances. To this end, a cage nut with a metric
thread is swung into the required point of the mounting rail hole pattern. Alternatively, tapping screws
can be used.
The AirSTREAM mounting rails are shaped in a profiling procedure, during which a high-quality steel
plate is processed in numerous steps and shaped into its new structure. The mounting rail modules
offer excellent current capacity and contact resistance properties and are continuously earthed.
Compared to the classic mounting plate, an AirSTREAM frame built with the new mounting rails offers
a weight saving of approximately 8 kg.
The AirSTREAM mounting rail system has completed all tests and certifications relevant for industrial
use with regard to loads, including vibration-shock, corrosion and harmful gas.
4.2 AirSTREAM background
The duct-free AirSTREAM wiring system enables the climate in the control cabinet to be improved so
that the active cooling output can be minimized. In contrast to conventional control cabinet designs
with mounting plates, the design is separated from the wiring level in the AirSTREAM and cable ducts
that impair the flows are avoided. Also, a chimney effect is created behind the wiring frame and
ideally, the cold air is guided downwards to the rear and then to the front and upwards again.
Therefore, a cool zone is created on the rear side of the cabling. Permanent air circulation is
generated between the warmer wiring front side and the cooler wiring rear side.
The flexible design and lack of cable ducts in combination with the AirSTREAM system generates
more space in the control cabinet and helps to save time when wiring, mounting and dismantling.

Operating instructions - Lütze AirSTREAM - SR032
16
The AirSTREAM wiring system is the central element of a control cabinet. It is made of steel frames in
which the wire guide (with modular wiring combs) has already been integrated. This means that no
cable ducts are required. The wiring is practically only done from the front.
Due to this design, more components can be accommodated on smaller dimensions. The components
are constantly surrounded by cool air. Resulting heat is dissipated.
Flexible thanks to modular design
The AirSTREAM with module parts for individually assembled frames ensures great flexibility and
freedom in modern control cabinet construction.
Compatible with previous systems
The new mounting rails are compatible to the long-time proven VPsym system, which means both
systems can be used in parallel.
Thin profiles increase load-bearing capacity
The profiles are very thin and therefore provide 40% more wiring space in the control cabinet. They
also streamline the assembly space requirement with their own design. Cooling air can circulate more
easily. All components are more accessible.

Operating instructions - Lütze AirSTREAM - SR032
17
Lightweight but sturdy materials
The frame's special profile is not only stronger, it
also requires less space. The installation is both
lighter and sturdier.
The comb segments that hold the wires are simply
clipped to the profile or levered out with a
screwdriver, if they need to be exchanged.
The new core structure of the AirSTREAM profiles
can also hold heavy components safely and
securely. The mature system of attachment points
and shunt rails offers an infinite array of
possibilities for installing all components.
The core structure of the AirSTREAM profiles
also carries heavy components. The system
of fastening points and shunting profiles
opens up many possibilities for the assembly
of almost all components.
Compact design with space for air circulation
The wiring is compact and offers plenty of
space for the wires. Cable ducts are
superfluous, because the wiring level is
already integrated into the frame via the
thinner profiles or the built-in brackets. This
results in an intelligent, aerodynamically
favorable air ducting system which, despite its
compact design, specifically avoids hot spots
from heat losses.
This multi-use effect is achieved by the
separation into a construction level and a
wiring level.
This creates a chimney effect. Due to this
natural air circulation in the control cabinet,
the air flows almost unhindered past the
modules and wires –the heat loss is
disspated, thus less cooling capacity are
required and resources are saved.

EPLAN Data Portal
The previous Lütze AirSTREAM wiring system is available in the EPLAN Data Portal. The engineering
of all AirSTREAM standard modules can thus be significantly simplified and accelerated.
With the integration of the Lütze AirSTREAM wiring system in the EPLAN Data Portal, designers
benefit from cross-disciplinary engineering tools: Project planning, 3D layout, production and assembly
of an AirSTREAM wiring frame merge on a uniform data basis and enable standardized processes,
automated processes and end-to-end workflows. Component updates are carried out independently
via the EPLAN Data Portal. As a result, the design times for a Lütze AirSTREAM frame are minimized,
market launches can be realized earlier.
The information for the new SR032 wiring system is not yet available in
the EPLAN. If you have any further questions, please contact the
Service.

19
AirSTREAM Compact
Ideal for small switch boxes and cabinets
AirSTREAM Compact is used in smaller, compact control cabinets, where space in depth is often
very limited.
Thanks to the flexible design, more space can be generated in the control cabinet and time can
be saved during wiring as well as during assembly and modification.
Differences to the classic AirSTREAM
In the AirSTREAM Compact, the beam profiles are not carried over brackets, but by supports.
These are available in different lengths to realize different depths. The wiring is done exclusively
from the front.
The wiring is done from the front only, with the wires being wired away from the back via the
combs and then laid sideways from top to bottom via the supports.
Simple mounting of large components
A superstructure of converters or other components, which are fastened by screws, is realized
with shunting beams. In addition, components can also be screwed directly in the sliding nut
channel.

4.3 Description of system components
4.3.1 AirBLADE
AirBLADES (Part no. 380281.0010) are used for targeted air flow in the control cabinet. They can
be used in a 50 mm grid instead of a comb and direct the air flow from the back of the
AirSTREAM frame to the front, allowing air to flow around devices in a targeted manner.
4.3.2 AirBLOWER
Der AirBLOWER (Part no. 777000.1011) is a fan bench for the LÜTZE AirSTREAM wiring
system. With the AirBLOWER, the climate in the control cabinet can be quickly homogenized. By
using an AirBLOWER and the associated AirBLADES, hot spots in the control cabinet are
