SETTING UP YOUR TRANSMITTER
1. Select and set your operating frequency. The Landmark PLS Transmitter is shipped preset
to an operating frequency of 72.9MHz (channel 8 on your frequency dial). If you experience
interference or a weak signal on this frequency, you may choose an alternate frequency as
described below. (See Frequency Selection)
2. Insert the included microphone into the jack marked MIC OR plug the included antenna
into the antenna jack. (See USING THE MICROPHONE AND ANTENNA)
3. If using AC power, plug in the included power supply. The light on top of the unit will
illuminate, indicating the unit is ON. There is no ON/OFF switch on the PLS unit. To turn it off,
simply unplug the power supply.
4. If using battery power, slide the battery pack into the track until it is all the way over on
the left side. NOTE: When PLS is not in use, slide the battery pack casing flush to the right to
turn off unit and extend battery life.
5. Turn on your FM350 Receiver. Press the channel SCAN up button until you reach the
desired channel. If you do not know the actual frequency, press the SCAN button for 2
seconds to allow the receiver to locate your broadcast. In most cases, the factory setting for
the transmitter is 72.9MHz.
6. Don’t forget to plug in the ear buds or any standard headset.
FREQUENCY SELECTION
In general, the factory preset on the transmitter (72.9MHz) is open and available for use.
If that frequency has interference it may already be in use. The best way to choose an
alternate frequency is to search using your FM350 Receiver for a channel that is clear. Listen
for several minutes to be sure. Then set your transmitter to that frequency.
Once you find a clear channel, you should never have to change it.

SETTING MODULATION (Volume Control)
Setting the volume on your PLS Transmitter. The volume control adjusts modulation. When
used with the included multi-directional microphone, the 12 o’clock setting is usually
satisfactory. Your transmitter will arrive with this setting. When used with another
microphone, you may need to adjust the modulation. We suggest a setting of about 3
o’clock. Use the included screwdriver to adjust the volume. The red dot on the control
indicates your current volume level.
If you purchased the Personal Listening System, your FM350 Receiver gives you an
additional source of volume control. The volume control for the receiver is located on the
top edge of the unit. It can be dialed up or down as needed. Once your baseline volume is set
with the transmitter, this should be your primary control.
Make sure your modulation is not too high, resulting in “splashy”or overly-emphasized “S”
sounds and distorted audio during volume peaks. Once a baseline volume is established on
the transmitter, further volume adjustments should only be necessary on the receivers.
USING THE MICROPHONE AND THE ANTENNA
The included antenna is supplied mainly to give extra boost to a weak signal and is not always
necessary. If the unit is plugged directly into the audio output and you have a clear signal,
you won’t need the antenna.
When in use, the included microphone serves as an antenna eliminating the need to use the
included antenna.
TROUBLE SHOOTING
DO NOT OPEN THE INNER CASE OR MODIFY THE TRANSMITTER! This will void the Warranty
and may cause your unit to operate out of FCC compliance.
DO NOT USE ANY OTHER AC POWER SUPPLY other than the one supplied with your unit.
Damage not covered by the Warranty may occur.
Do not connect the headphone jack on your TV to the microphone jack on your PLS
Transmitter. This can result in poor or muffled and distorted sound quality. You should use
the supplied 3.5mm to RCA cable to make your connection.
DO NOT USE THE AC POWER SUPPLY AND THE BATTERY PACK SIMULTANEOUSLY! It will
destroy your system and void your Warranty.
