Introduction
Step 1: Locating the Bento Box - Collapsible Handle and
Mounting Bracket versions:
Collapsible Handle Version:
– The Bento Box is designed to be used in dry indoor locations only.
– The Box should rest on its own feet on a level surface. It may be positioned with the receptacles in any
orientation.
– Take special care not to locate the box in any areas prone to water.
Mounting Bracket Version:
– Attach the Get-A-Grip c-clamp to the hole in the center of the mounting bracket (Lex Products Catalog
Number ‘GET-A-GRIP’)
– Or, secure the Get-A-Grip to the Mounting Hole on the the back of the Break Out Box using an adapter
(Lex Products Catalog Number 04-160-A11)
– Attach Bento Box to secure position using the Get-A-Grip c-clamp. The receptacles may be mounted in
any position.
– It is recommended that a secondary device (safety cable) is employed for security.
Step 2: Making connections
WARNING
– Before making connections to the Bento Box make certain the power source feeding the Box is OFF.
– Do not exceed the voltage rating indicated on the box label.
If the Bento Box has circuit breakers, make sure all circuit breakers are in the OFF position.
NOTE: If using the feed thru feature, connect the feed thru before the input connection is made.
Make input connections
– Fully insert the female connector into the male inlet on the Bento Box. For NEMA locking devices, turn
the connector clockwise until it is fully locked. For 19 pin connections, turn the locking ring clockwise
until it is fully tightened.
Make load side connections
– Fully insert the male plug into the female receptacle. For NEMA locking devices or PowerCON
connectors, turn the connector clockwise until it is fully locked.
Powering Up The Bento Box
Best practices dictate that loads are applied gradually the first time the system is set up. If the circuit
breaker cannot be energized or trips, check the system for continuity, short circuits and overload, and make
the necessary corrections before proceeding
1. Turn on the power source
2. Turn on the first individual circuit breaker, where applicable, to the ON position
3. Ensure the devices feed by that circuit are on
4. Repeat steps (2) and (3) for the remaining circuit breakers
Setting Up The Bento Box
If there is no power at receptacles:
1. Ensure that connections are in place and tight
2. Ensure that power source is live
a. Activate if not on
3. Ensure that circuit breakers are ‘ON’
4. If a circuit breaker trips, identify source of short circuit or overload, and correct before resetting circuit
breaker:
a. Check to see if the circuit is overloaded and reduce loads as needed
b. Check for short circuits in the cabling or load device and correct as needed
5. If there is still no power at receptacles:
a. Remove Bento Box from use
b. Contact Lex Products’ Technical Support Department
