Slots and openings in the cabinet are provided for
ventilation and to ensure reliable operation of the
product and to protect it from over heating. The

in installation such as a bookcase or rack unless
proper ventilation is provided or the manufacturer’s
instruction has been adhered to.

Use of controls, adjustments or the performance of
procedures other than those specied herein may

To prevent direct exposure to laser beam, do not try
to open the enclosure. Visible laser radiation when

CAUTION concerning the Power Cord
Most appliances recommend they be placed upon
a dedicated circuit;
That is, a single outlet circuit which powers only
that appliance and has no additional outlets or
branch circuits. Check the specication page of this
owner’s manual to be certain. Do not overload wall
outlets. Overloaded wall outlets, loose or damaged
wall outlets, extension cords, frayed power cords, or
damaged or cracked wire insulation are dangerous.
Any of these conditions could result in electric
shock or re. Periodically examine the cord of your
appliance, and if its appearance indicates damage
or deterioration, unplug it, discontinue use of the
appliance, and have the cord replaced with an
exact replacement part by an authorized service
center. Protect the power cord from physical or
mechanical abuse, such as being twisted, kinked,
pinched, closed in a door, or walked upon. Pay
particular attention to plugs, wall outlets, and
the point where the cord exits the appliance. To
disconnect power from the mains, pull out the
mains cord plug. When installing the product,

This device is equipped with a portable battery or
accumulator.
Safety way to remove the battery or the
battery from the equipment: Remove the
old battery or battery pack, follow the steps
in reverse order than the assembly. To prevent
contamination of the environment and bring on
possible threat to human and animal health, the
old battery or the battery put it in the appropriate
container at designated collection points. Do
not dispose of batteries or battery together with
other waste. It is recommended that you use
local, free reimbursement systems batteries and
accumulators. The battery shall not be exposed to
excessive heat such as sunshine, re or the like.
CAUTION: The apparatus shall not be exposed to
water (dripping or splashing) and no objects lled
with liquids, such as vases, shall be placed on the
apparatus.

a mild detergent solution, not strong solvents

Maintain the cleaing status of optical pick-up
lens and disc drive parts. If they are dirty or worn,
the displayed quality could be diminished. For
details, please contact your nearest authorized
service center.

Install in accordance with the manufacturer’s
instructions.
8. Do not install near any heat sources such
as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other
apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce
heat.
9. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polar-
ized or grounding-type plug. A polarized plug
has two blades with one wider than the other.
A grounding type plug has two blades and a
third grounding prong. The wide blade or the
third prong are provided for your safety. If the
provided plug does not fit into your outlet,
consult an electrician for replacement of the
obsolete outlet.
10. Protect the power cord from being walked on
or pinched particularly at plugs, convenience
receptacles, and the point where they exit
from the apparatus.
11. Only use attachments/accessories specified
by the manufacturer.
12. Use only the cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or
table specified by the manufacturer, or sold
with apparatus. When a cart is used, use
caution when moving the cart/ apparatus
combination to avoid injury from tip-over.
13. Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms
or when unused for long periods of time.
14. Refer all servicing to qualified service person-
nel. Servicing is required when the appa-
ratus has been damaged in any way, such
as power- supply cord or plug is damaged,

Regional Code
This unit has a regional code printed on the rear of
the unit. This unit can play only DVD disc labeled
same as the rear of the unit or “ALL”.

MARKER: Marks any desired point during playback,
and select or removes any specic track/le.
SEARCH: Displays or exits the search menu.
PROGRAM: Enters the program edit mode.
ZOOM: Enlarges video image in disc mode.
REPEAT: Repeats a desired selection or sequence.
A-B: Repeats a section.
RESOLUTION: Sets the appropriate resolution to
HDMI Out and Component Video Out.
KARAOKE (ECHO) (DV691H/DV697H only): Accesses
or exits KARAOKE menu.
Battery Installation:
Remove the battery cover on the rear of the Remote
Control, and insert one R03 (size AAA) batteries with
4and 5 matched correctly.
Code number to control TVs:
Press the below proper number of TV maker on
holding down 1 (TV Power) and just press 1 (TV
Power). If TV is turned on or o, it is to be set. But,
some or all buttons may not be operated according
to TV, even though it is to be set or input the proper
number.

Connect the VIDEO/AUDIO OUT on the unit to
VIDEO/AUDIO IN on TV with AV cable, such as
VIDEO with yellow, AUDIO Left/Right with white/
red.

Connect the COMPONENT VIDEO OUT on the unit
to COMPONET VIDEO IN on TV with COMPONET
cable, such as Y with green, Pb with blue, and Pr
with red.
yYou should still connect the AUDIO cable
between the unit and TV.
Connecting HDMI cable
Connect the HDMI OUT on the unit to the HDMI IN
on compatible TV with HDMI cable. (Type A, High
Speed HDMI™ Cable)
Additional Information for HDMI
yWhen you connect a HDMI or DVI compatible
device make sure of the following:
-Try switching o the HDMI/DVI device and
this unit. Next, switch on the HDMI/DVI device
and leave it for around 30 seconds, then
switch on this unit.
-The connected device’s video input is set
correctly for this unit.
-The connected device is compatible with
720x576i(480i), 720x576p(480p), 1280x720p,
1920x1080i or 1920x1080p video input.
-The 1080p, 720p and 576p(480p) resolutions
are the progressive scan applied resolution.
yNot all HDCP-compatible HDMI or DVI devices
will work with this unit.
-The picture will not be displayed properly
with non-HDCP device.
-This unit does not playback and TV screen is
changed to black screen.
Resolution Setting
yDepending on your TV, some of the resolution
settings may result in the picture disappearing
or an abnormal picture appearing. In this case,
press RESOLUTION repeatedly until the picture
re-appears.
yChanging the resolution when the unit is
connected with HDMI connector may result in
malfunctions. To solve the problem, turn o the
unit and then turn it on again.

sampling frequency, set the [Sample Freq.]

[MPEG] options to [PCM] on the setup menu
(See page 12).
Connecting HDMI cable
Connect the HDMI OUT on the unit to the HDMI IN
on amplier with HDMI cable.
Connect the HDMI OUT jack on amplier to HDMI
IN jack on TV with HDMI cable, if the amplier has
HDMI OUT jack.

When the unit is turned-on at the rst time, you
have to select the desired language. (optional)
Adjust the settings
You can change the settings of the player in the
[SETUP] menu.
1. Press SETUP.
2. Select the rst setup option using ws and
press dto move to the second level.
3. Select a second setup option using ws and
press dto move to the third level.
4. Select a desired setting using ws and press
ENTER to conrm.
5. Press SETUP to escape from setup menu.
[LANGUAGE] Menu

Select and set the language you prefer.
[DISPLAY] Menu
TV Aspect
Select and set TV aspect ratio according to your TV
type and preference.
[4:3]: Standard TV type
[16:9]: Wide TV type
Display Mode
Select and set Display Mode according to your
preference. Display Mode works only when the TV
Aspect mode is 4:3.
[Panscan]: Display full screen with cut non-
main scene on TV
[Letterbox]: Display wide screen with black
stripe at top and bottom on TV
[AUDIO] Menu
Set the player’s Audio options according to various
disc output type you use.
Dolby Digital / DTS / MPEG
Select the type of digital audio signal to use the
DIGITAL AUDIO OUT jack.
[Bitstream]: Select to connect DIGITAL AUDIO
OUT jack to an amplier with Dolby Digital, DTS
or MPEG decoder.
[PCM] (for Dolby Digital / MPEG): Select
to connect DIGITAL AUDIO OUT jack to an
amplier without Dolby Digital or MPEG
decoder.
[O] (for DTS): Select to connect DIGITAL
AUDIO OUT jack to an amplier without DTS
decoder.
Sample Freq. (Frequency)
Selects the sampling frequency of the audio signal
between [48KHz] and [96KHz].
DRC (Dynamic Range Control)
To adjust the volume level by itself when Audio
level reaches to more than the specic level (Dolby
Digital only).
Vocal (DV690H/DV692H only)
To mix the vocal with music using the multi-
channel karaoke DVD.

[LOCK] Menu
Move to [Area Code] by pressing d. Press ENTER
after input the 4-digit password. Input the same
4-digit with password again to verify and press
ENTER. The Rating and Password menu will be
activated.
Rating
Input the 4-digit password and press ENTER. Select
the level from 1(Kids) to 8 (Adult).
Change Password
Input the former 4-digit password. Input the new
4-digit password and input it again to verify.
If you forget the password
Remove the disc. Input “210499” on Setup
menu and press ENTER. The password will be
cleared.
Area Code
To input the standardized area code refer to the Area
Code List on page 18.
[OTHERS] Menu
B.L.E (Black Level Expansion)
Select [On] or [O ] to expand the black level or not.
It just operates when TV system is set to NTSC.
REC Bitrate (DV692H/DV697H only)
To select bitrate when you record from Audio CD
to USB directly. Higher bitrate gives better sound
quality. For detailed recording method, see page 16.
Score (DV691H/DV697H only)
The score can be displayed after singing a song
with microphone. Select [On] in Score to use this
function. The score is displayed only when a chapter,
title or track is fully nished. Fanfare sounds with the
high score.
DivX VOD
ABOUT DIVX VIDEO: DivX®is a digital video format
created by DivX, Inc. This is an ò cial DivX Certied®
device that plays DivX video. Visit divx.com for more
information and software tools to convert your les
into DivX video.
ABOUT DIVX VIDEO-ON-DEMAND: This DivX
Certied®device must be registered in order to play
purchased DivX Video-on-Demand (VOD) movies. To
obtain your registration code, locate the DivX VOD
section in your device setup menu. Go to vod.divx.
com for more information on how to complete your
registration.
[Register]: Displays the registration code of
your unit.
[Deregister]: Deactivate your unit and display
the deactivation code.

You can display and adjust various information on-
screen about the loaded disc and USB Device.

1. Insert a Karaoke Disc and connect the
microphone to the MIC jack.
2. Press the KARAOKE button and select [ON] to
activate the microphone.
3. Select a desired song and press zto play the
le.
4. Press KARAOKE to display karaoke menu. Select
an option and the desired mode pressing ws
and ad.
[ECHO/MELODY/VOICE/KEY/EFFECT]
yThe karaoke feature functions only with
karaoke-compatible discs.
yThe VOICE and MELODY menus may not be
available on some karaoke discs.
yThere is microphone’s sound output while
PCM is set for DIGITAL AUDIO OUT.
yDepending on the disc, a karaoke option
may not work.
yAccording to TV model or brand, karaoke
sound from mic can be delayed when TV
and the unit are connected directly, so
please connect the unit with an amplier to
enjoy karaoke with mic.
