Surface 3 hour Maintained LED Drop Light
We are delighted that you have purchased this Light fitting. Please read this instruction manual before installation and retain
for the user maintenance engineer for future reference.
Our products are designed to comply with the recommendations of BS EN 60598-1:2008 code of practice for emergency
lighting of premises and be installed by a competent person in accordance with the relevant wiring regulations.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Installation must be carried out by a skilled competent electrician who is familiar with the appropriate standards and
technical requirements of the appliance and also taking in to consideration the latest building regulations.
Not suitable for use with dimmer switches, Install in accordance with I.E.E. Wiring Regulations.
This product must e earthed and NOT be subject to an electrical insulation test (500 1000v)
For Maintained Operation-For lamp always on,link Ls(Switched Live) to terminal L(Permanent Live).If ‘Ls’ not connected,
fitting works as non-maintained.
Please note: The LED’s contained in this fitting are not designed to be replaced.
INSTALLATION
1. Remove the diffuser from the body by removing the two screws.
2. Release the hinged gear tray by releasing the two plastic retaining clips and remove the gear tray.
3. Fix base to the ceiling.
4. Ensure the mains supply is isolated. There are four 20mm cable entries, drill the require entry most suitable for the
installation.
5. The fitting requires a permanent 230v AC supply to the live (L), Earth and neutral (N) terminals on the PCB. This would
be as per non-maintained mode to charge the batteries. For the maintained circuits for continuous illumination this can
be achieved by connecting a link between L and L1 (default) or to have a switch live connection through a remote switch
to the L1 connection. Ensure ALL electrical connections are tight with no loose strands.
6. Plug the battery lead into connector on the PCB.
7. Re-secure the gear tray into the base of the unit making sure that the mains cable is not trapped by the PCB.
8. Refit the diffuser using the two screws.
9. Restore the mains supply, the green charge LED should be illuminate
10. Ensure the fitting is charged for a minimum of 24 hours prior to testing
IMPORTANT: To extend battery life always fit the luminaire with the batteries at the bottom when wall mounting.
11. Connect the mains supply wiring as follows:
Ensure that all connection are firmly secured and there are no loose strands omitted
12. For component protection in transit and user safety the luminaire battery fuse is supplied separately in the fitting.
Once the fitting is installed and wired correctly the battery fuse must be installed in the fuse holder on the PCB.
13. When all connections have been made reassemble the fitting completely.
14. Restore the supply and check that the Green LED indicator illuminates to confirm the batteries are charging.
