Before using Geko check that it is free from defects and complete with
all its elements, otherwise promptly notify the supplier.
Before using Geko check the sliding capacity of the moving parts
and that there are no breaks, folded or unsoldered parts,
or loose elements. If even one single case among the previous ones were found,
do not use the device and contact Livith S.p.A. immediately.
Geko must be used in stable openings of windows or doors; the
support resistance must be at least 12 kN in the direction
of use of the device.
The device must be used with the resistant crosspiece in a
horizontal position.

The device is a PPE used for work operations at height.
During these operations the operator, in addition to this manual,
must also follow the instructions for access at height of the Technical Roong Paper.
When the Geko device is used as part of a fall arrest system,
the operator will have to be equipped with an absorber that limits
the maximum fall arrest load to 6 kN
The operator must wear the UNI EN 361 harness and the connection device
suitable for the work he is preparing to carry out before accessing at height and
using Geko.
The connection devices compatible with Geko are:
- EN 354 - Fixed positioning lanyards equipped with absorber
- EN 353-2 - Guided rope device equipped with absorber
The operator must install Gecko before using it as an anchor for work
at height. The operator must anchor his connection device to the specic anchor point of
Geko before starting work.
The operator must anchor the connector of his connection device
in the appropriate space of the anchor point, bypassing the deformation space
of the fall indicator.
The operator must adjust or choose his own connection device so as to work in a fall-restraint
system and with a tensioned rope.
In any case, it is essential that:
- The anchor device is always well-positioned and that the work is carried out in such a way as to
minimize both the potential fall and the potential fall distance;
- The free space required under the user at the workstation is checked before each use, so that in
the event of a fall there is no collision with the oor or other obstacle.

The Geko device is equipped with a fall indicator placed in correspondence with
the anchor point.
The fall indicator consists of a sheet made of an expendable material designed
to deform plastically in case of stresses equal to those of
an operator's fall.
The fall indicator must be intact before using Geko.
The NON integrity of the fall indicator is enough to put the device
out of service.
Here below are the indications for checking the integrity of the fall indicator.

CONDITIONS OF USE
• Geko can only be used by trained workers.
• Geko constitutes protection for one person only.
• Before using the protection devices, of which Geko is one of the components, a rescue
action procedure must be developed and introduced, in order to minimize the danger
that may exist during the use of the fall protection devices.
• Before the rst use of Geko, it is necessary to ll in its usage form. The form must be
completed by the person of the company responsible for the protective equipments
and must be preserved for the entire period of use of the crosspiece.
• Before each use of the crosspiece, a thorough inspection of the device must be carried
out, with regard to any damage or signs of wear or corrosion. The stability of the device
xing inside the opening must be carefully checked. It is necessary to make sure that
the device is xed in a horizontal position, resting on the ground or guardrail surface,
to avoid the automatic release of the device. It is necessary to check the fastening of
the xing handles of the device sleeves. The inspection is performed by the person
using the device. In the event of any damage or doubt regarding the correct condition
or operation of the device, it must be immediately excluded from the service.
• Before each use of Geko it is necessary to check the integrity of the fall indicator.
• The NON integrity and/or deformation of the fall indicator are suicient conditions for
Geko's decommissioning.
• During work, it is necessary to check from time to time the stability of the connections
between all the elements of the protection device used and their adjustment.
• During use, it is necessary to protect the beam from the contact with oils, solvents,
acids and basic products, open ames, fragments of incandescent metals and objects
with sharp edges. Before each use of the fall protection devices from height, of which
Geko is one of the components, it is necessary to check that all the devices are
correctly connected to each other, that they work without any interference, and that
they comply with the current standards:
- EN 361 - for fall arrest harness;
- EN 354, EN 355, EN 353-2, EN 360 - for connection-absorption subgroups;
- EN 362 - for connectors (carabiners);
- EN 795 - for hooking devices.
