VO LTAGE
120 volts AC is taken from two of the phases. If the motor
starter already has a 120-volt control transformer with 10VA
of free capacity, it can be used. Otherwise, install a separate
transformer. It is okay if the secondary is grounded.
BE SURE TO NO TE WHICH TWO PHASES SUPPLY THE
TRAN SFO RM ER.
In 1 2 0 / 2 0 8 V thre e -p h ase syste m , t he 1 2 0 V MUST c o m e fro m a
transformer connected to two of the phases. The 120V phase to
ground voltage cannot be used.

It is VERY IMPO RTANT that the current signal comes from the phase
that IS NOT supplying the 120V control transformer. Be extra careful
when the machine has reversing starters or multi-speed windings. If a
wrong phase is used the control will either:

Start-up Timer
The Start-up Timer bypases the Control during motor
start-up to avoid false trips because of curr ent inrush. For
convenience, the TIMING BEGINS WHEN THE MO TO R
STARTS. The S tart-up LED stays lit until the start-up period
is over.
The start-up time should be:
ï Long enough so that the load has s tabilized.
To bypass Start-up Timer set time to zer o seconds.
Dela y Timer (Max Set P oint)
To avoid nuisance trips fr om short overloads, Dela y
Timers bypass the Contr ol for the select ed time. The
relays wonít trip until the time is exceeded. If t he trip
condition goes away before the time is up, the timer
resets to zer o.
ï Start with minimum Dela y. If y ou are getting trips
where you donít w ant them, increase the Dela y
Time.
Adjusting R ate Set P oint
The Rate Set P oint limits sudden load changes.
1 = Fastest (most sensitive)
40 = Slo west (least sensitive)
Start at about 15. Go slo wer if you get nuisance trips. Go
faster for more sensitivity.
