Thechargercancontinuouslychargesupplybatteriesorstarterbatteries,enablingthebatteriesto
maintainatahighcapacitylevel.
Thechargercanbeusedforchargingthreetypesofbatteries:GELbatteries/Lead‐acidstarter
batteries/Maintenancefreebatteries.
Pleaseinquiryyourbatterysupplieraboutthemaximumcapacitiesofyourlead‐acidbatteries.
Thechargerisequippedwithapolarityprotection,thispreventsthechargerfrombeingdamaged
incaseofincorrectpolarity.
Anoptionaltemperaturesensorthatisconnectedatthebatterybeingchargedprotectsthe
batteryagainstdamagecausebyvaryingoutsidetemperaturebyadaptingthechargingvoltageof
thetemperaturetothebattery.Pleaseconnecttwoendsoftemperaturesensor(pleaseseefigure
12)–oneendtoTEMPsocketonfrontpanelandanotherendtothebattery.
Anoptionalremotecontroller(pleaseseefigure13)canbeobtainedinordertoprovideremote
accesstothecharger.

Thehalfpowermodecanbesetonlywhenequalizationfunctionisnotactivatedorthe

ThechargercharacteristicisgenerallydesignatedasamodifiedIUoUcharacteristic.
8‐1‐1IPhase(Bulk)
TheSTATUSLEDconstantlylightsred.Inthefirststageofthechargingprocess,thedepleted
batteryischargedwithaconstantcurrentuntilthebatteryvoltagereachedIphasesettingvoltage
(13.5V/13.8Vor27.0V/27.6V).Whenthebatteryreachesthisvoltagelevel,thechargingcurrent
graduallydrops.Whenthecurrentdropsdownto80%,thechargerswitchesovertoUophase
settingvoltage(14.0V/28.0Vor14.4V/14.8Vor28.8V/29.6V).Typicallythebatteryischargedto
70%~80%ofitscapacity.
8‐1‐2UoPhase(Absorption)
TheSTATUSLEDconstantlylightsorange.Thismainchargingphasecouldbesettothemaximumof
4/6/8hoursorunlimited,andthecurrentrisesagaintoitsmaximumvalue.Thecurrentremains
constantaslongasthebatteryvoltageisbelowUophasesettingvoltage(14.0V/28.0Vor14.4V/
14.8Vor28.8V/29.6V).Afterreachingthesettingvoltage,itremainsconstant.However,the
currentdropsagain.Withinthismainchargingphase,thebatteryischargedto95%ofitscapacity.
Thechargingvoltageandtheperiodforthemainchargingphase(Uophase)canbe
selectedusingthedipswitch(S1).
8‐1‐3UPhase(Float)
TheSTATUSLEDconstantlylightsGreen.Ifthecurrentdecreasesto10%orundertheratedcurrent
orifthetimelimitof4/6/8hoursisexceeded,thenthechargerswitchesovertoeconomy
charging(13.5V/13.8Vor27.0V/27.6V).

Batteriesmaybechargedseparatelyfromeachotherifthechargershavedouble
chargingorthree‐foldchargingconnections.Theoutputsareseparatedinternallyby
diodes,thustheweakerbatterywillbealwaysfirstchargedtothecharginglevelofthe
strongerbattery.
ThemaximumbatterycapacityshouldNOTexceedthespecifiedcapacity,otherwisethe
functionsoftheindividualchargingphasescouldbeinfluenced.
8‐1‐48‐DayConditioning
IfthebatterychargerstaysatUphasefor8days,itwillswitchbackto3‐stagechargingIUoU,and
stayatUophasefor60minutestorevivethebattery.
8‐dayconditioningwillbeterminatedwheneverequalizationfunctionorhalfpower
modeisactivated.
Whenthechargerisintheequalizationstageorhalfpowermode,8‐dayconditioning
willnotbetriggered.
8‐1‐5Equalization
Thefunctionofequalizationcouldbeactivatedaslongasthebatterychargerisnotinthehalf
powermodeorpowersupplymode.Thefunctionofequalizationwillbeactivatedonlywhenthe
batteryischargedandstaysinUophasewith<25%ofFullloadcurrent.Thebatterychargerwill
chargethebattery3hourswithequalizationsettingvoltage(15.5VorUophasesettingvoltage)
andhalfofratedcurrent.
Oncetheequalizationfunctionisactivated,itcanonlybecancelledbyturningoffthe
batterycharger.
ThebatterychargersLCH‐1215AandLCH‐1230Ahaveanoptiontohavea2Acharging

Whenthebatterytemperaturereaches55°C,thechargerwillstopthechargingprocess
