Charging.
Before turning on the device for the rst time, OrCam recom-
mends charging the device for at least three hours. For all sub-
sequent charges, OrCam Read fully charges in 90-120 minutes.
To charge OrCam Read:
1. Insert the cable into the type C inlet of OrCam Read.
2. Plug the USB end into the charger and then into an electrical
socket.
Turn on or off Your OrCam Read.
- To turn on OrCam Read, press the power button for 2 seconds.
When the device wakes up, you will hear, “OrCam Read Version
[xx] is ready. Battery is [xx] percent charged”.
- To enter the Suspend mode, press the power button once.
You will hear a beep and, “Suspending. Press again to shut down”,
and then, “Suspended” as the device enters Suspend mode.
- To exit the Suspend mode, either press the power button or
trigger button once. You will hear a beep and, “Waking up.
Battery is [xx] percent charged”.
- To turn off OrCam Read, press the power button once. You will
hear a beep and, “Suspending. Press again to shut down”. Press
the power button again. You will hear a beep and, “Shutting down,
please wait”. As the device shuts down, you will hear, “Power off.
Bye bye”.
Setting the Volume.
The volume is set either using a vocal command or manually.
To increase the volume:
- Rapidly press the trigger button twice and say after the long
beep, “Volume up”.
- Press the plus (“+”) volume button.
To decrease the volume:
- Rapidly press the trigger button twice and say after the long
beep, “Volume down”.
- Press the minus (“-”) volume button.

04.
Vocal Commands.
OrCam vocal commands can be used to easily control your OrCam
Read, change settings, and receive information.
To use them:
1. Rapidly press the trigger button twice. You will hear a long beep.
2. Say the vocal command. You will then hear a chime.
3. OrCam Read will then tell you the information, change the setting,
or ask you for more information in order to change the setting.
To hear the list of vocal commands, say one of the following
commands:
“Help Tell”
- OrCam Read will list all of the available commands that begin with
“Tell”.
- These commands will help you receive general information (such
as the time or date) or information about the device (such as the
software version or device serial number).
“Help Settings”
- OrCam Read will list all of the available commands that will help
you modify your device’s settings.
“Help Smart Reading”
- OrCam Read will list all of the available commands for the
Smart Reading feature.
Audio Settings Menu Options.
Customize your OrCam Read’s settings via the audio settings
menu. There are two options for entering the audio settings
menu:
- Rapidly press the trigger button twice and say after the long
beep, “Enter the user menu”.
- Press and hold down the power button, press any of the volume
buttons, and then release the power button.
Once you are in the audio settings menu, pressing the trigger
button once conrms the selected option; pressing either of the
volume buttons browses through the options. Rapidly pressing
the trigger button twice either makes the device go back to the
main menu or exits the audio settings menu.

06.05.
Bluetooth Connectivity.
Use Bluetooth to connect your OrCam Read to an external
speaker or earphones.
1. On the speaker or the earphones:
A.Press the Bluetooth pairing button. You will receive an audio
response from the speaker or earphones.
2. On your OrCam Read:
A. Do one of the following options:
- Rapidly press the trigger button twice and say after the long
beep, “Connect to the Bluetooth audio device”.
- Enter the audio settings menu. Go to Connectivity Settings
Menu, then to Bluetooth Settings Menu.
B. Select “To connect to a Bluetooth audio device, press the
trigger button; for other settings, press the volume buttons”.
OrCam Read will list all available Bluetooth devices.
C. Press the volume buttons to scroll through the Bluetooth
device options. Press the trigger button to select the device to
which you want to connect.
D. On some Bluetooth speakers or earphones you will hear a
“connected” announcement.
Note: When connected to a Bluetooth speaker or earphones, the
volume level is controlled by the speaker’s or earphones’ volume
buttons only, not by the OrCam Read plus or minus volume
buttons.
Mobile App.
The OrCam Read app allows you to customize your OrCam Read’s
settings, control reading navigation, and nd your device if you
misplace it. The app is currently available only to iPhone and iPad
users.
1. Search and download the OrCam Read app in the App store of
your iPhone.
2. Turn on your iPhone’s Bluetooth mode.
3. Follow the onscreen instructions while pairing your device.
Connect to WiFi and Software Updates.
Connecting your OrCam Read to a WiFi network ensures that
your device will install the latest software updates throughout the
warranty period. The device must also be connected to the
charger throughout the downloading process in order to receive
the software updates. Please note that OrCam Read only
supports 2.4 Ghz WiFi, not 5 Ghz WiFi.
To connect to your WiFi network:
1. On your computer or smartphone:
A. Go to www.orcam.com/wiset.
B. Follow the instructions on the screen to set your WiFi network.
C. A QR code will appear on the screen.

2. On your OrCam Read:
A. Connect OrCam Read to the charger.
B. Hold OrCam Read in front of the screen (computer screen
about 12-16 in [30-40 cm]; smartphone screen about 6-8 in [15-
20 cm]) in order to scan the QR code.
C. Read the QR code either using a vocal command or manually.
- Rapidly press the trigger button twice and say after the long
beep, “Read the QR code”.
- Point OrCam Read at the OrCam Please command and the QR
code on the screen. Press the trigger button.
D. OrCam Read will chime and make several beeps as it scans
the QR code and connects to the WiFi network. It will announce
when it is connected.
Note: To check the status of your OrCam Read’s
connectivity to the internet, rapidly press the trigger button twice
and say after the long beep, “Check the internet connectivity”.
Reading with the Trigger Button.
1. Hold OrCam Read steady, directly facing the text at a distance
of about 6-14 inches (15-35 cm) away from the text. Make sure
that the long side of the device with all of the buttons is facing
upward.
2. There are two ways to read with the trigger button.
- Press the trigger button once to take a picture of all text that is
present.
- To read more specic text, use the laser pointers.
A. Press and hold down the trigger button, which will activate the
laser indicator and a border laser frame or mouse laser pointer
will be projected onto the text.
B. Adjust the border laser frame or mouse laser pointer in order
to capture the desired text.
C. Let go of the trigger button. You will then hear a camera shut-
ter sound as OrCam Read takes a picture of the text.
3. OrCam Read will make several beeps as it processes the
text. It will then begin reading the text and chime when nished
reading.
Note: If your nger is not released before 5 seconds transpire, the
camera will not activate.

- “Border” for reading framed text.
- “Mouse” to start reading at a specic location.
Note: OrCam Read captures the selected text within 5 seconds
of pressing and holding the trigger button. If your nger is not
released before 5 seconds transpire, the camera will not activate
Set Zone and Time & Telling the Time and Date.
1. To set the internal clock, go to the Time Set page on the
website: www.orcam.com/timeset.
2. Press the trigger button to read the “OrCam Please Set Zone
and Time” command on the screen.
3. There are two ways to hear the current time:
- Rapidly press the trigger button twice and say after the long
beep, “Tell the time”.
- Use the mouse laser pointer to read the following command:
OrCam Please Tell Time
4. There are two ways to hear the day of the week and the date:
- Rapidly press the trigger button twice and say after the long
beep, “Tell the date”.
- Use the mouse laser pointer to read the following command:
OrCam Please Tell Date
5. After a few seconds, OrCam Read will tell you the current time
and/or date.
Reading Navigation.
- To pause or resume reading, press the trigger button twice.
- To skip to the next sentence, press the plus (“+”) volume button
once.
- To go back to the previous sentence, press the minus (“-”)
volume button once.
- To stop reading, press the trigger button once.
- When OrCam Read is nished reading, it will make a chime
sound.
Laser Pointer Modes.
You can switch the laser pointer mode by pressing the plus and
minus volume buttons at the same time.
There are two laser pointer modes:

Smart Reading.
This feature enables you to nd specic information in any
document.
1. Hold the document in front of you with the camera directly
facing the text, just as when reading any text with OrCam Read.
2. Rapidly press the trigger button twice and say after the long
beep, “Smart Reading”.
3. Hold still until you hear the camera shutter sound.
4. Shortly after, the device will announce, “Ready”. It is now
always listening. There is no need to rapidly press the trigger
button twice before every vocal command.
5. For a full list of available Smart Reading vocal commands,
either say, “Help”, or visit the online User Manual on the OrCam
website’s User Area.
6. If you wish to say a new command while the device is reading,
press the trigger button once and the device will return to “Always
Listening” mode.
7. To exit this feature, either say, “Exit”, or press and hold down
the trigger button for 5 seconds and then release.

Your use of your OrCam device (the “Product”) and the mobile app is subject to the Terms and Conditions found at orcam.com/terms-and-
conditions. Your agreement to these Terms and Conditions is a condition to your use of the Product.
Please read the User Guide in full, including the important Safety Instructions, before using your OrCam device. Do not use your OrCam device until
you have received in-person or online training by an authorized OrCam TrainerTM or OrCam Training Program.
OrCam can take no responsibility if the Product was used other than in accordance with the instructions in the User Guide. Products should not
be relied upon in circumstances that are potentially life- or health-threatening or that could lead to nancial loss. OrCam devices should especially
never be relied upon to drive vehicles or operate heavy machinery of any kind. OrCam shall not be responsible in the event that Products are used
in such situations.
OrCam may receive information from third parties (i.e. Barcodes of Grocery Products in selected countries). OrCam received Barcode information
from Barcodes of Grocery Products in Australia and New Zealand from GS1 Australia. OrCam accepts no responsibility for the accuracy of the
information obtained from third parties.

OrCam thinks highly of your privacy and we are committed to protecting and safeguarding our clients’ and users’ personal information. Please

Warranty.
Customer acknowledges that, other than as explicitly stated herein, OrCam does not make any representations or warranties to Customer
regarding the Product, its functions or any images it produces.
The OrCam end-user limited product warranty (the “Limited Warranty”) covers the owner of an OrCam product against defects in material or
workmanship at the time of its original purchase, for a subsequent period of one (1) year, and for any additional applicable legal warranty period.
Original proof of purchase/delivery is required from the owner in order to obtain this coverage.
OrCam will repair or replace, at its discretion, any product that is determined by OrCam to be covered under this Limited Warranty. OrCam will not
be responsible for conditions arising as a result of intentional damage or misuse of the product. The owner is responsible for the costs of shipping
the product to the location specied by OrCam.
This Limited Warranty is the sole and exclusive warranty applicable to OrCam products. No third party has the authority to make any
representation, warranty, or agreement on behalf of OrCam with respect to OrCam products. No warranty of any kind or nature is made by OrCam
beyond those expressly stated herein.
In no event shall OrCam be liable for any special, collateral, indirect, punitive, incidental, consequential, or exemplary damages in connection with or
arising out of the use of the product. In no event shall OrCam’s liability exceed the price paid for the product.
Without limiting any provisions limiting liability under this agreement, the limited warranty set forth herein will not apply, and the owner will
reimburse OrCam for any costs and expenses incurred in the event that:
(i) the product has been used other than in accordance with the product documentation and terms of use or other written operating instructions
provided by OrCam
(ii) the product has been subject to tampering, misuse, negligence, or accident
(iii) the product or parts identication labels have been removed or the product has been otherwise altered
(iv) the product has been opened, modied, repaired, serviced, maintained, or altered by someone other than an authorized OrCam representative

(v) the product has been combined with software, hardware, or other equipment not supplied by OrCam or not approved in writing by an authorized
OrCam representative
(vi) the product has been intentionally damaged or exposed to water, heat, or high voltage
(vii) the product has been used by a person who has not completed training by an authorized OrCam TrainerTM
Any parts replaced pursuant to this warranty will be under warranty for the remaining time of the original warranty period or for ninety (90) days
from the date of repair, whichever is longer.

If you believe that your product needs warranty support, contact [email protected]. You will be responsible for shipping costs. However, if it is
determined that the warranty request is valid, OrCam will pay the total cost of shipping the repaired or replaced product.
ORCAM DISCLAIMS ANY AND ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, THE IMPLIED
WARRANTIES OF NON-INFRINGEMENT OF THIRD-PARTY RIGHTS, MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. ORCAM
DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE PRODUCT WILL BE ERROR FREE OR “BUG” FREE, WILL OPERATE WITHOUT INTERRUPTION, THAT ANY IMAGES
OR SOUNDS PRODUCED BY THE PRODUCT WILL BE ACCURATE OR THAT THE OPERATION OF THE PRODUCT WILL BE SECURE AND HEREBY
DISCLAIMS ANY AND ALL LIABILITY ON ACCOUNT THEREOF. THIS SECTION SHALL BE ENFORCEABLE TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY
APPLICABLE LAW.
Refund Policy.
You can return your undamaged device for a refund within the period required by local law or as agreed between you and OrCam at the time of
purchase. Training fees are non-refundable. Please contact your local representative or OrCam Support to initiate a return process.
When you return the OrCam device, please follow OrCam Support instructions carefully. The device must be in the same condition that you
received it and undamaged in any way. Your refund and how it is issued may differ based on how the device was purchased, its condition, and how
long you’ve had the device.
OrCam will process your return only after the carrier has received your device and delivered to OrCam. It usually takes up to three weeks for OrCam
to receive (for international shipping involving local customs it may take longer) and process your return. Once OrCam issues your refund, it may
take additional time for your funds to be made available in your account by your nancial institution. For credit card payments, it may take 5 to 10
business days.

This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC rules. These
limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses

Safety and Warnings.
Before using the OrCam device, read these precautions carefully to avoid dangerous situations and to ensure ideal performance of your device.
Handle your OrCam device with care. It can be damaged if dropped, burned, punctured, or crushed. Do not open the outer casing of the device.
The OrCam device is designed to work in ambient temperatures between 320F and 1040F (00C and 400C) and in normal conditions (Relative
Humidity of 10% to 90% RH and Atmospheric Pressure of up to 2000m above sea level (700hPa)). The device can be damaged if used outside of
this range. Store and transport in a cool, dry place (320F to 1040F (00C to 400C) and Relative Humidity of 5% to 90% and atmospheric pressure of
700hPa to 1060hPa)). The OrCam device is water resistant but not waterproof. This means the device can withstand light rain or drizzle for short
periods of time, although it is not recommended. Do not use the OrCam device in heavy rain, at the beach or swimming pool, or in or near a bathtub
or shower. Do not submerge the OrCam device in any liquid. The OrCam device meets the standards of IP Code: IP22.
Should you have a problem operating the OrCam device, if the case or lens is cracked, or if you believe there is something wrong with the device,
please contact support and do not attempt to repair it by yourself. Only qualied OrCam personnel may repair or service your device. Unauthorized
repairs may void your warranty.
Do not attempt to replace the battery; you may damage it, which could cause overheating and even injury. The battery is designed to last for two
years of average use (one charging cycle per day on average) after which it may need to be replaced. Use only the charger supplied with your
OrCam device. Using another charger may void your warranty and could cause severe injury.
Do not force a connector into a port or apply excessive pressure to a button. This may cause damage that is not covered under the warranty. If a
connector does not insert easily, check for obstructions in the port and verify that you have the correct connector for that port. Do not combine
with software, hardware, or other equipment not supplied by OrCam. Exposing the device to magnetic elds may damage the unit or erase your
data.
When using the OrCam device or charging the battery, it is normal for the device to get warm. If the unit becomes excessively hot, leaks, or gives off a
burning smell, turn the device off immediately and contact OrCam Support.
If you have specic questions about use alongside an internal pacemaker and/or debrillator, please consult your medical professional. Do not use
the OrCam device to read medication labeling.
Cleaning.
Clean your device if you feel it is dirty or transferred between users. Never touch the camera lens with your nger. Clean the lens only with the supplied
microber cloth and eyeglass cleaning uid. Do not use any abrasive materials. Do not expose the device to chemicals, such as household cleaners,
aerosol sprays, solvents, alcohol, or ammonia. If you experience an allergic reaction to any of the elements of the OrCam device, contact a medical
professional.

Cargando.

Opciones del menú de configuración de audio.
Para personalizar la configuración de OrCam Read, vaya al menú
de configuración de audio. Hay dos opciones para entrar en el
menú de configuración de audio:
- Pulse rápidamente el botón de activación dos veces y diga
después del pitido largo, «Entre al menú de usuario».
- Mantenga pulsado el botón de encendido, pulse cualquiera de
los botones de volumen y suelte el botón de encendido. Una
vez que esté en el menú de ajustes de audio, pulsar el botón de
activación una vez confirma la opción seleccionada; al pulsar
cualquiera de los botones de volumen se recorren las opciones.
Al pulsar rápidamente dos veces el botón de activación, el
dispositivo vuelve al menú principal o sale del menú de ajustes
de audio.

Conectividad Bluetooth.
Use el Bluetooth para conectar su dispositivo OrCam Read a un
altavoz externo, auriculares o audífonos.
1. En el altavoz o en los auriculares:
A. Pulse el botón de emparejamiento de Bluetooth. Recibirá
una respuesta de audio del altavoz o de los auriculares.
2. En su OrCam Read:
A. Haga una de las siguientes opciones:
- Pulse rápidamente el botón de activación dos veces
y diga después del pitido largo, «Conectar con el
dispositivo de audio Bluetooth».
- Entre en el menú de configuración de audio. Vaya al
menú de configuración de conectividad y, luego, a la
configuración de Bluetooth.
B. Seleccione «Para conectar con un dispositivo de audio
por Bluetooth, pulse el botón de activación, para otras
configuraciones, pulse los botones de volumen». OrCam
Read mostrará una lista de todos los dispositivos
Bluetooth disponibles.
C. Pulse los botones de volumen para desplazarse por las
opciones del dispositivo Bluetooth. Pulse el botón de activación
para seleccionar el dispositivo al que desea conectarse.
D. En algunos altavoces o auriculares Bluetooth oirá un
anuncio de «conectado».
Nota: Cuando está conectado a un altavoz/auricular Bluetooth, el
nivel de volumen se controla a través de los botones de volumen
del altavoz/auricular, no deslizando el dedo hacia arriba/abajo en
la opción de volumen del OrCam Read.
Aplicación móvil.
La aplicación OrCam Read te permite personalizar la
configuración de su OrCam Read, controlar la navegación de
lectura y encontrar su dispositivo si lo pierde. La aplicación está
actualmente disponible solo para los usuarios de iPhone y iPad.
1. Busque y descargue la aplicación OrCam Read en la App
store de su iPhone.
2. Active el modo Bluetooth de su iPhone.
3. Siga las instrucciones en pantalla mientras empareja su
dispositivo.
Conéctese a WiFi y a las actualizaciones de software.
La conexión de su OrCam Read a una red WiFi garantiza que su
dispositivo instalará las últimas actualizaciones de software
durante el período de garantía. El dispositivo también debe estar
conectado al cargador durante todo el proceso de descarga para
poder recibir las actualizaciones del software. Tenga en cuenta
que OrCam Read solo admite WiFi de 2,4 Ghz, no WiFi de 5 Ghz.
Para conectar a su red WiFi:
1. En su ordenador o smartphone:

A. Conecte el OrCam Read al cargador.

20 cm]) para escanear el código QR.
C. Lea el código QR con un comando vocal o manualmente.
- Pulse rápidamente el botón de activación dos veces y
diga después del pitido largo, «Lee el código QR».
- Apunte a OrCam Read en el comando OrCam Por favor y
el código QR en la pantalla. Pulse el botón de activación.
D. OrCam Read hará sonar un timbre y emitirá varios pitidos
a medida que escanea el código QR y se conecta a la red
WiFi. Al conectarse, notificará de ello.
Nota: Para comprobar el estado de la conectividad de su
OrCam Read a Internet, pulse dos veces rápidamente el botón
de activación y diga después del pitido largo, «Compruebe la
conectividad a internet».
Características
de OrCam Read.
Leer con el botón de activación.
1. Mantenga el OrCam Read estable, directamente frente al
texto a una distancia de unas 6-14 pulgadas (15-35 cm) del
texto. Asegúrese de que el lado largo del dispositivo con
todos los botones esté hacia arriba.
2. Hay dos maneras de leer con el botón de activación.
- Pulse el botón de activación una vez para tomar una foto de
todo el texto presente.
- Para leer un texto más específico, use los punteros láser.
A. Mantenga pulsado el botón de activación, lo que activará
el indicador de láser y un marco de láser de borde o un
puntero de láser de ratón se proyectará en el texto.
B. Ajuste el marco láser del borde o el puntero láser del
ratón para capturar el texto deseado.
C. Suelte el botón de activación. A continuación oirá el
sonido del obturador de la cámara mientras OrCam Read
toma una foto del texto.
3. A medida que procesa el texto, OrCam Read emite varios
pitidos. Luego comienza a leer el texto y, al finalizar, se oye un

Nota: Si no suelta el dedo antes de que transcurran 5 segundos,
la cámara no se activará.

5. Al cabo de unos segundos, OrCam Read le dirá la hora y/o la
fecha actuales.
Navegación de lectura.
- Para pausar o reanudar la lectura, pulse el botón de activación
dos veces.
- Para saltar a la siguiente frase, pulse el botón de volumen más
(«+») una vez.
- Para volver a la frase anterior, pulse el botón de volumen menos
(«-») una vez.
- Para dejar de leer, pulse el botón de activación una vez.
- Cuando OrCam Read termine de leer, sonará un timbre.
Modos de puntero láser.
Puede cambiar el modo de puntero láser pulsando los botones de
volumen más y menos al mismo tiempo.
