LF1009A: LIFT SCALE KIT

WARNING: Important! Read and understand these instructions before assembling or
using the LF1009A Lift Scale Kit. If you do not understand any part of these warnings,
cautions or instructions, contact a healthcare professional for direction in the use of
this product. If the Lift Scale Kit is not properly assembled and installed, personal
injury and damage to the Lift Scale Kit could result.
WARNING: If components are damaged or missing, contact your Graham-Field
authorized distributor immediately. DO NOT use substitute parts. Use only Lumex
replacement parts. Non-Lumex replacement parts could cause personal injury and
damage to the LF1009A Lift Scale Kit.
WARNING: This product has a maximum weight capacity of 600 lb (272 kg). The
lift, however, may have a lower maximum weight capacity; do not exceed your lift’s
maximum weight capacity when using this scale.

INTENDED USE
The LF1009A Lift Scale Kit is intended to weigh patients (in pounds or kilograms) during lifts.
ASSEMBLY
1. See picture at right. Remove black cap from spreader
bar pivot pin.
2. Position upper scale between lift boom mounting
brackets with scale display facing outward. Insert long
shoulder bolt through lift boom mounting brackets,
black spacers, and upper scale as shown. Install lock
nut on shoulder bolt. Use 3/16" hex key and 1/2" wrench
to tighten.

Each mounting link has a recess where the short
shoulder bolt’s head should mount. If shoulder bolts are
not mounted in these recesses, they will be too short.

Insert upper short shoulder bolt through mounting links
and lower scale as shown. Install lock nut on shoulder
bolt. Use 3/16" hex key and 1/2" wrench to tighten.
4. Place white spacer over end of pivot pin. Insert pivot
pin upward through center of spreader bar as shown.
5. Insert lower short shoulder bolt through mounting
links, white spacers, and pivot pin as shown. Install
lock nut on shoulder bolt. Use 3/16" hex key and 1/2"
wrench to tighten.
6. Discard remaining hardware.

OPERATION
1. Press the ZERO button to zero the scale system, with sling
attached and empty, before each weighing. “0” will pan across the
screen for several seconds; display will then read “0.0”.
2. Press the kg/lb button to choose the display mode (kilograms or
pounds).
3. Using the instructions in your lift manual, remove the sling from
the spreader bar, position the patient, re-attach the sling to the
spreader bar, and lift the patient.
4. When motion has stabilized, press the OPERATE button to display
the weight data. Do not touch the patient or sling during this step.
5. When the weighing process is complete, using the instructions in your lift manual, lower the patient
carefully.
Info: The scale system automatically powers off after 60 seconds to conserve the battery. To wake
the system, press the OPERATE button.
MAINTENANCE
WARNING: Inspect scale frequently to ensure that all attaching hardware is tight.
Cleaning
As needed, wipe scale gently, using mild soap or a mild disinfectant.
s NOTICE: DO NOT wash scale under water pressure or steam clean. DO NOT use
solvents, abrasive cleaners, or scouring pads on any part of the scale.
Battery Replacement
The Scale is powered by one 9-Volt battery, which should provide approximately 3,000 readings (when
using 9-Volt Lithium battery) before replacement is needed. When the battery needs replacement, an
indicator will appear on the display. To replace the battery:
1. Open access door on back of scale.
2. Remove old battery from terminals.
3. Install new battery on terminals.
4. Close access door. Ensure that access door is securely closed before using scale.
ONE-YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY
GF Health Products, Inc. (“GF”) warrants to the original retail purchaser or lessee (either is the “Customer”) only, that it will replace or repair
components, at GF’s sole discretion, that are defective in material or workmanship under normal use and service. The warranty is for parts only
and does not include labor or costs of shipping. All warranties are conditioned upon the proper use of the product strictly in accordance with
applicable GF instructions. Product provided to users as rentals must be serviced by the provider and inspected prior to delivery. Each user must
be properly trained on the operation and safety of this product prior to use. Within the guidelines set forth in this document, the Lumex LF1009A
Lift Scale is warranted for one (1) year. The applicable warranty period shall commence from date of shipment to the Customer, unless there is an
expiration date on the component in which case the warranty shall expire on the earlier of the warranty period or the expiration date.
Obtaining Warranty Service
This limited warranty shall only apply to defects that are reported to the Dealer from whom the Customer purchased the product within the
applicable warranty period. If there is not a Dealer, you must contact GF directly by calling (678) 291-3207, sending a fax request to 770-368-2386 or
by e-mailing a request to cs@grahameld.com. Specic directions will be provided by the Customer Service Representative.
Exclusions
The warranty does not cover and GF shall not be liable for the following: 1) Defects, damage, or other conditions caused by misuse, abuse,
negligence, alteration, accident, freight damage, tampering or failure to seek and obtain repair or replacement in a timely manner; 2) Products not
installed, used, or properly cleaned and maintained; and 3) Labor or shipping charges. Other exclusions apply.
