Section I: Set Up for Non-1911 Type Pistols
Section II: Set Up for 1911 Type Pistols
The AccuSight is supplied with two sight pusher blocks, one straight
and one angled. The straight pusher block is installed at the factory.
Make sure that you are using the correct
pusher for the style of sights you are adjust-
ing or installing. Using the incorrect pusher
block could cause damage to the sight.
To install the angled pusher block, follow
these steps.
a. Place a 5/16” wrench onto to the Adjust-
ment Screw Retaining Screw and place the
Adjustment Handle onto the Adjustment
Screw.
b. While holding the 5/16” wrench rotate the
Adjustment Handle counterclockwise to
loosen the Adjustment Screw Retaining
Screw.
c. Remove the Adjustment Screw Retaining
Screw and two washers.
2

d. Rotate the Adjustment Handle counter-
clockwise until the pusher block has fully
unthreaded from the Adjustment Screw.
e. Remove the straight pusher and install the
angled pusher by rotating the Adjustment
Handle clockwise to thread the pusher onto
the Adjustment Screw.
f. Once the angled pusher has been threaded
on you can reinstall the Adjustment Screw
Retaining screw. Bronze thrust washer
goes on first, followed by steel washer.
Tighten Retaining screw.
Section I
Setting up and using the Lyman AccuSight
Handgun Sight Tool for Non-1911 Type Pistols
1. Remove slide from pistol. Remove recoil
spring/guide rod and barrel.
Slide MUST be removed from frame
prior to using tool, failure to do so
may result in damage to the frame.
2. Use tape and a marker to mark the current
position of the sight relative to the pistols
slide. Photo A.
3. Make sure all the side clamps are fully
retracted and then place the slide onto the
bottom assembly with the flat part of the
bottom assembly facing you.Photo B.
Helpful Hint
The side clamps are made of steel, you
should protect your slide with a layer of
tape. Photo C.

5. Take the top carriage assembly and fully
lower the height adjustment screw.

6. Place the top carriage assembly onto the
bottom assembly, making sure the FLATS
of the height adjustment screw are contact-
ing the top of the slide. The cut out portion
of the height adjustment screw is used for
1911 type pistols. Photo F.
7. Rotate the sight tool sideways so you can
see the sight and dovetail. Move the slide
back and forth to align the pusher block
with the center of the sight and dovetail.
Tighten the side clamps, DO NOT overtight-
en the side clamps. Use only hand pres-
sure to firmly clamp the slide into place.

Once you have the slide positioned correctly, and the sight pusher block
set to the correct height, thread on the two hold down knobs and hand
tighten. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN KNOBS!!
Recheck the slide and pusher block alignment. Once you are satisfied
with your settings start to rotate the Adjustment Handle so that the
pusher block moves in the direction you want the sight to move.
Some sights can be stuck or require extra force in order to get the sight
to move. If at any time the sight pusher block dramatically twists, STOP
FURTHER ADJUSTMENT.
If the pusher block is not vertical, you may have to tap the bottom cor-
ner of the pusher block with a punch and hammer in the direction the
sight is being moved.
DO NOT apply excessive force to the Adjustment Handle this may cause
damage to the AccuSight Tool or your sights.
Once you have the sight moving, you can utilize the hash marks located
on the front of the Top Carriage Assembly as a guide. Each hashmark
represents 1/32”.
Section II
1911 Type pistols
When installing sights onto 1911 type pistols or any other pistol that
has a slide profile like a 1911, you will want to use the notched area of
the Height Adjustment Clamp. The notch will fit the contour of your
1911 slide.
When installing front sights on a 1911 type pistol you want to use the
cut-out portion of the Bottom Assembly Block. Shown here.
5

When you have your 1911 slide set correctly in the AccuSight Tool, you
then follow steps A thru F to adjust or install sights on your 1911 type
pistol.
!! Important !!
Most sights are installed from left to right, meaning the left side would
be the side of the pistol if you were holding the pistol to fire. Point of
impact adjustments can be made in either direction as needed.
When you are finished adjusting or installing the sights, turn the Ad-
justment Handle in the opposite direction to relieve the pressure on the
sight.
Loosen and remove the two Hold Down Knobs
on the Top Carriage Assembly.
Remove the Top Carriage Assembly and loos-
en the Side Adjustment Knobs and remove the
pistol slide from the AccuSight Tool.
Reinstall or tighten any set screws that hold
the sight in place. Reassemble the pistol and
function check prior to firing.
If you are removing the sights, contact the
manufacturer for the preferred installation/
removal direction.
Below are some examples of sight install/removal directions of some of
the larger manufacturers.
• Glock- Either direction
• Smith and Wesson-Install right to left
• Dan Wesson- Install right to left
• Springfield Armory- Install right to left
• Colt- Install right to left
• CZ- Install left to right
