1. Important notices
This user manual contains important information about proper and safe usage of FES
Bluetooth Module device.
Information in this document are subject to change without notice. LZ design
reserves the right to change or improve this product and to make changes in the content
of this material without obligation to notify any person or organization of such changes or
improvements.
Caution: A Yellow triangle is shown for parts of the manual which should be
read carefully and are important.
Warning: Notes with a red triangle describe procedures that are critical and
may result in reduced safety or may lead to critical situation.

1.1 Limited Warranty
This product is warranted to be free from defects in materials or workmanship for
two years from the date of purchase. Within this period, LZ design will, at its sole option,
repair or replace any components that fail in normal use. Such repair or replacement will
be made at no charge to the customer for parts and labor, however the customer is
responsible for any transportation cost.
Usage of device is at user’s own risk. LZ design will not under any circumstances
accept any responsibility or will be liable for possible damage on people, animals, or
things, which might directly or indirectly happen from using FES Bluetooth module.
In the case of a fault/damage or to obtain a warranty service, contact LZ design
directly. Only authorized persons can repair the module.
1.2 Invalid Warranty
The warranty does not cover failures due to abuse, misuse, accident, or
unauthorized alterations or repairs.

2. Description
FES Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) module was developed in cooperation with
company REC d.o.o.
FES Bluetooth module is a small device which connects FES BMS in the FES
Battery pack and your smart device, via RS-485 connector.
It transfers and shows all the parameters of the FES battery pack on your smart
device –voltages, current, temperatures, state of charge and health.
User can monitor the parameters in real-time and diagnose the potential errors in
the FES battery pack. Application logs all battery parameters and makes 24h based folders
on the build-in SD card. Data can be easily transferred to connected device for analysis.
Both Android and iOS smart device operating systems applications are free and
can be download from Google Play Store or App Store. Most of the Android versions (4.0
and higher) and smart phones/tablets are supported by the application.

4. How to use
To start using the FES Bluetooth module, please follow the next steps:
1. Download and install REC BMS application from Google Play or App Store.
2. Connect the FES Bluetooth module to FES battery pack.
3. Connect the power supply to the FES Bluetooth module.
4. Turn on the Bluetooth on your smart device, search for available devices and pair
with the Bluetooth module.

5. Run the application and tap SCAN on the home screen, find and SELECT your
Bluetooth module and wait for the connection to establish.
Application start screen without the connection.
When the device is selected the application will start to gather data from the BMS.
Blue LED icon on top will start to blink, signaling data downloading.
Broken chain sign on top alarms the connection with the BMS is lost.

4.1 Tab menu
General tab is used to display important parameters while dedicated tabs can be
used to display advanced battery pack information (see 4.3 Tabs overview , page 9).
Note: An alarm pop-up sign informs the user in case of any system error
or alarm, containing its diagnostics.

Charging tab enables the user to set:
−charging voltage (End of charge) in 10 mV intervals
−charging current (Charging coefficient) in 10 % intervals.
Charging voltage value is set for one cell and is then applied to all the cells in the FES
battery pack.

In case there is no need of fully charged battery, life cycles may be increased by lowering
the end of charge voltage.
